except The Gamespot staff that wrote this are long gone. Gamespot's current incarnation had nothing to do with this. Maybe GiantBomb got owned?

I played on both SDTV & HDTV

HDTV has sharper & clearer image than SDTV, but fine on an SDTV but for some reason the picture didn't fit the TV

djrobst
coz all xbox games are programmed to widescreen resoloution and most sdtvs are 4:3 not 16:9 screens. even usually on the widescreen glass screen sdtvs they still showing a 4:3 picture usually stretched.

360 games are programmed to be compatible with both 4:3 and 16:9. If the image is stretched or squished check your display settings on both your xbox and your TV if it is widescreen. It is in the system blade under console settings - display settings.

I only tried GH2 in a Best Buy demo because I was curious about it being a real guitar player and hearing everyone rave about it. For a person like myself who has played guitar long enough to feel completely natural and comfortable ,Guitar Hero is very unintuitive. As other people have mentioned it seemed harder then playing a real guitar. But after some practice I found Guitar Hero skills can be learned relatively quickly, compared to real guitar which took years to master.

So I eventually realized that it is mostly the same as other rhythm games and not much like playing a real guitar. I had some fun with it and accepted it for what it was but I have to say that I think there are much better rhythm games out there. I think DDR is more fun and Elite Beat Agents is pure bliss. I think the appeal of guitar hero over these other games is that people like the rock music in GH much better than the crazy techno in DDR and they probably don't feel as silly mimicking a guitar than some other things. I do like the GH music better for listening purposes but I think it makes for a worse game. The steady chugging rhtyhms are somewhat dull to me to mimic in a game. Elite Beat Agents in comparison is freed from the restraint of trying to resemble any real music system and is free to be as chaotic and insane as it wants to be.

So in summary it's kind of fun but I would never pay money for it and I wouldn't want to pour lots of time into it either. And I also prey that people don't actually think they look cool playing with a fake guitar.

On an SDTV a lot of games don't look much better than the original Xbox if judging by it's best looking games like Chronicles of Riddick. On some games the difference between SD and HD is like night and day.

Maybe it's because all of Gamespot's reviewers left and/or were fired.

No there is no new DS this year. Nobody knows when a new one will be released. Nintendo probaly haven't decided when but it may be several years off still. They are still selling like hotcakes. There is no need for a new one.

Great. Here's to hoping that "revolution" will finally come true.

I understand the novelty of having a handheld version of some games but not Myst. Myst is a game best experienced in a tranquil setting with the lights off and the sound up, not on a tiny low resolution screen. Isn't playing the game how it was meant to be played with good graphics and sound and controls a better novelty than portability.

I agree that you shouldn't take reviews as gospel but when most places are giving a game about 3 out of 10 that's a good sign that it's not going to be any good. It's not reviewers that have a problem with games that aren't madden, GTA, or Halo. That would be the average gamer. Reviewers on the other hand complain that no one played Okami or Psychonauts.
