It means what kind of score it got from reviews.

AAAA = 10

AAA = 9 - 9.9

AA = 8 - 8.9

A = 7 - 7.9

Also, if someone puts an "E" in it (for example AAAE) it means its an exclusive.

Wow, I just played through that game for easy gamer points. But it turns out beating that game was the hardest thing I have ever done.

I would say it didnt sell so well because it was released in May of 1996, a few months before the Nintendo 64 launched. I am not a big JRPG fan, and I love SMRPG.
