It certainly isn't in the same league as either the 360 or ps3. All the major groundbreaking titles have come out on those 2 consoles IMO. They just have the horsepower to put out the graphics and game engines that cutting edge games require. The wii just isn't in the same ballpark at all. It's not that the wii doesn't have fun games, but it just doesn't play the ones that have moved gaming forward.

GreySeal9

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 both moved the platforming genre, which is a part of gaming, forward.

Also, what titles do you consider as having moved gaming forward?

Now the galaxy games are definitely cool, but still they can't hold my attention like a game such as enslaved. Would I rather play goldeneye, the game I basically played in college over ten years ago, and "wait for it" the conduit or killzone 2, halo series, resistance, duke nukem, crysis, etc.. The wii is not in the same league. It's like watching the first star wars in standard def compared to watching avatar on blu ray. Star wars is classic, but bigger and better films are more appealing.

exactly, but don't tell the sheep this. let them tell it new super mario bros is better than everything on the hd twins. yeah ok, lol.

I can respect sonicare's perspective, (even if I disagree) but yours is rather weak. First off give me one good reason why Super Mario Bros CANNOT be better than everything on the HD twins?

graphically and sound wise, it isn't on par. it might be fun, but from a technical standpoint it's a joke. also, i'm tired of playing as some fat plumber running aroung stomping on mushrooms, the game is totally void of a story. Video games allow the player to delve into worlds that they can't in real life. That world is not to appealing. Now you give me a reason why it could be?

The n64 and gamecube are two of my favorite systems of all time. The wii is my least favorite system of all time. it's borderline a piece of garbage, though for some strange reason i'll continue to support it here and there. I purchased so I might as well try and play it, even if it is once every six months. it would have been a great system in 2002, but nowadays, not so much. It's too weak, the games don't appeal to me as much as they once did, and it is virtually featureless. I was done after the idiotic friend codes. that right there should let us know that the system is aimed at a younger crowd. and remember that I've purchased twenty games for the wii, so i don't wan to hear about me being a ps3/xbox fanboy.

I still don't think having a lower price tag and not having a DVD function decides if it's a child's toy or if it's an adult toy.

OreoMilkshake

Obviously they do. Just look how manly DVD players are.

You missing the point. Adults like more bang for their buck. You know what, forget it. This is pointless.

Adding a DVD playing function would have made the Wii more expensive. Just about everyone owns a DVD nowadays, or at least everyone who would buy a Wii.

Demonjoe93

Yes, it would have raised the price tag. Hence the reason, why it is considered more of a "child's toy", and not an "adult toy", and hence the reason why it's not in the same league as the hd consoles. And before I get attacked, I own a Wii with about twenty games that I bought new. I t is not a gaming machine for people serious about gaming, albeit a nice complimentary system. It just doesn't have the bells and whistles as the others. Still, there is no excuse for it to not come with a DVD player in this day an age. You guys can try to justify it all you want. It's inexcusable. However, it does have web browser. It gets points for that, but it too is still pretty rudimentary. And the games, while good at times, feel like they are missing something. Even games like metroid prime 3 and the other m, can't compete with the hd elite. I'm not bashing the WII, I'm just really disappointed with nintendo. Sure they did well for themselves, but at the expense of me, the gamer who adored them for 20 years. It's not inclusion of motion control, it's the shoddiness of the system that perturbs me. :-(

The lower price tag appeals to parents who will buy the system for their children, or to non gamers who aren't going to invest a lot of money in gaming. Older gamers who work and love gaming will pay the higher price tags for systems with multi functionalities. Kids just wanna play games. Adults want to play games, listen to music, watch blu rays, DVd's, etc. I have all three consoles, so I think I can make a fair analysis as a 32 year old gamer. I feel like a child playing the wii, except Zelda, I love Zelda. I'm not saying the games are kiddie, because I'll play anything from klonoa to Rez to ninja gaiden, and everything in between. It just doesn't feel like it has grown up.

I still don't think having a lower price tag and not having a DVD function decides if it's a child's toy or if it's an adult toy.

That's why people have DVDs. Wii owners have a Wii to play GAMES.

Demonjoe93

But what's wrong with having an extra DVD player? There is no excuse for the wii to not be able to at least play DVD's. It's just standard nowadays, a perk of owning a gaming system.

[QUOTE="Slimmin360"][QUOTE="Nerd_Man"]Is there guns and violence in the game? It can't be good then.Lto_thaG
Typical PC, PS3 or 360 fanboy.

It could also be sarcasm...

I'm sure it's sarcasm, but the sad thing is that the lack of guns and violence is not what makes wii games terrible. they had it the conduit and we see how that turned out. i'm good on the donkey kong returns, but epic mickey on the other hand.

Mass Effect 2 or Enslaved. No one talks about enslaved here, a highly underrated game. The story was incredible.
