I'm a parent myself and we also have a rule that we do not allow any rated "M" games in our home. These just will not be played - no questions - no debate - nothing. It's just the way it is. I don't know your parents but with us, there is absolutely nothing you can do that would change our mind about this - including that silly comic strip someone else posted.
Why not let them play? I played Gears of war dead rising and hitman at a friend's house, and I was playing 6 hours every week. A whole year. I am exactly the same after that. Sure not 6,7,8,9,10,11 year olds who enjoy gore, and beat up little kids cause they like it... but a teenager... a very mature teenager, i might add, so think about that.
