Red Alert 3 is good but not great. I am midway through it (Leningrad mission on HARD!) I think it is a good RTS and lots of fun but I love these kind of games. As for the DRM, I also was originally opposed to being forced to activate the game and didn't want to have to install an AV/firewall on my offline gaming PC but I took a chance and just quickly connected my modem (no AV) and activate RA3 in under 5 seconds. It was painless and now I can play without the DVD.

If you were smart enough to know how to illegally download the game, why aren't you smart enough to know how to update your cracked version of Red Alert 3?

I checked it out and it is nice, just like the other codename panzer games and Rush for Berlin series. Good, solid WWII RTs game...

Has anyone here tried the BSG mod for HW2? I am currently watching all 4 season of BSG to catch up to the start in Jan., and just saw this mod.

Yes, it is the same in BFME 2, they basically just freed up where you can create buildings. Piesics - I played both too, and loved ROL, but don't think BFME will make you happy if you are looking for a ROL fix. Both BFME games are mostly about the LOTR and the stories/characters behind it. For a really fun fantasy, unappreciated RTS game, look for or download a copy of "Army of Exigo".

100000's suggestions are all great, but don't give up on Homeworld just yet. Especially if you like sci-fi. If you could start with the first game, Homeworld, it would help a bit. Part of the difficulty of the Homeworld series is that you are expected to have all of the right units when you start some of the missions where you don't have the time or resources to actually build them. So you have know which to build before you complete the previous mission, and this requires using a guide. Other great RTS games to check out are Warcraft series, Starcraft series, and Company of Heroes series.
