[QUOTE="yarou1000"][QUOTE="Mafiree"] That will be the next step imo, which is why I oppose government run health care. I think it is fine if you want to eat excessive amounts of food, smoke, drink alcohol, or do drugs. I just think you should bare the financial responsibility of these actions and not be a burden for tax payers. Mafireeperfectly health people have come down with disease, and illness... look at lance armstrong, or in hockey phil kessel both are extremely fit, and healthy men, who got testicular cancer... now neither has to my knowledge done any substance abuse of any sort. The same could be said about many people around the world who get sick. Those can be calculated into insurance rates. Since, you will on average require x amount of medical bills. I am willing to pay into this because if I was to develop a condition that requires a large amount of money to treat my insurance company would pay for it. My point was in regards to conditions like type-2 diabetes which is a generally preventable condition. Type-2 diabetes makes up a significant portion of health-care expenditures in the US and I feel it is unfair to have to bare the burden of someone elses poor lifestyle choices.Are you opposed or for universal healthcare?

[QUOTE="wiistation36000"][QUOTE="Mafiree"] unemployment is a lagged indicator......Mafiree
What do you mean by lag?
The economy recovers then "some time" after unemployment decreases. If it continues to go up, why should we have faith? I'd think we'd see at least an imporovement in 10 months. Or, if apparently it was spent in Bush's term, longer.How about we spend more money teaching kids how to be healthy and such, that way, when they get older, they don't NEED to go to the doctor so much?cell_dwellerThat would help too.
[QUOTE="wiistation36000"]unemployment is a lagged indicator......I understand Obama can't fix things overnight (or hey, 10 months either, let's not rush him) but I can't understand why unemployment has gone UP.

[QUOTE="wiistation36000"]So let me get this straight... You want Obama to take government money and hand it back to the people to spend on health care...money that comes from taxpayers. -so he is going to take my money, then give it back to me, and tell me how to spend it...me thinks I will just cut out the middle man Getting money back from the government is good, it's called tax breaks :? He already takes money in taxes, I really hope you're not trying to say we shouldn't have tax. Not everyone (in fact, I bet a lot of people won't) spend it on healthcare, and then they'll just complain about not having it.Ok, this seems like a good idea to me, but I don't know what you guys think.
Instead of completely changing the health care system, why not just give every American a decent wad of cash that must be spent on health insurance per month. This way people would get the care they need, the insurance companies would prosper (sure, they're filthy rich as it is, but if it helps the people as well why not?), and not much* money would be spent in the end.
*Ok, that actually would come out to a hefty sum, but nothing compared to what they're proposing.
