you're expectations were reasonable. you didn't give into the hype, what you did was expect something that you've seen given to other people on different systems. The problem wasn't your "weakness to the hype", its what i've been saying is wrong with Nintendo. Which is the fact that they've slipped into this mode of only doing the least bit of work they can possibly do to produce products. They should have provided Retro Studios with the resources they needed to produce a high quality game, but they didn't, cause they didn't care. You can see how they don't care in all the games they've released. Nothing is ever done over the top to please the consumer, its only done just enough to let them say they did something. Every problem you listed, I've heard a lot, and i mean a lot, of other people bring up too.Nintendo makes the claim that they have made a system for everyone, from the hardcore gamer to the casual first time gamer. Ok, so lets address that. As a hardcore gamer, wouldn't it be nice to hear the screams of the space pirates come from the speaker behind you in TRUE digital surround sound because unlike the casual first time gamer, you have your Wii hooked up to your surround sound system and not a 20'' mono TV? Wouldn't it be nice to see Samus's varia suit in TRUE HD without the muddy textures all over her? Not every gamer cares about those two things, and i'm not saying they do, but thats not the point. Nintendo said their system and games were for EVERYONE, and since i'm included in that category, and i want both those, where is the option for me to have them? By default, Nintendo has lied and fallen short once again. Metroid was just another piece of the "half-shod" Nintendo pie. It was an awesome ride, but just like Six Flags, before you even get a chance to enjoy it, its over. Makes me sad though, cause Metroid is my favorite series, and Nintendo is my favorite company, but i'm gettig tired of being let down. Bottom line, if Nintendo really made a system for "everyone" as they claim, they would at least provide the OPTION for these extras, which they do not. Why do they only have a system for people who don't care about HD and digital sound? And why am I told that if I want those, to go get a 360 anda PS3? I have a 360, and if i want to play it, i'll play it, but that does nothing for my desireto play Metroid in HD withtrue surroundsound. Once again that defeats the whole purpose of Nintendo's message with the Wii, that its for everyone. It is not for everyone. It is for people, AND ONLY PEOPLE, who do NOT care about HD, a good online multiplayer system, TRUE surround sound, and good, high calibur games. Because if it were for the rest of us, we would have the OPTION to have all of those extras. The system hardware itself makes that point.
