I can't help but feel this trend of games with low player counts and small maps is misguided. Mirage: Arkane Warfare, while being a totally different type of game from Lawbreakers, also has an objective mode with small player counts. It did even worse than Lawbreakers... low player counts mean one good player can dominate an entire match and that ruins the fun for everyone else. More players means a single skilled player gets more diluted.
Both games had some really solid mechanics, but seem to be struggling to find an audience.
unless you have a huge population and matchmaking that ensures close(ish) games, low player count game modes seems like a good way to sink a competitive-only game.
I was kinda mislead by the marketing, i was hoping for something like Chivalry but we got a fighting game in disguise. I wanted big melee brawls but the game seemed more focused on 1v1, and the biggest mode only allowed for like 6-8 players or something? Lost interest pretty quickly after playing it and have no desire to return, wonder how many people left for the same reason.
