wouldn't be surprised if the reviews are somewhat mixed, there will probably be some jank, expecting the story/dialogue to be weak and bring it down as well.

but i'm personally very much looking forward to it, been one of the very few games I've been excited about playing for a while now

I fully embrace jank. But I don't want the game to come out with the serious issues we've seen these past years:

  • The game launches with bad optimization and runs bad on every single setup
  • The game launches with severe stuttering which is unfortunately typical for UE5

These things are far worse than falling under the map or some NPC that can tell apart a wall and starts running into it.

yea for sure. bad optimization is the one thing that'll keep me from playing this at launch. hopefully not the case!

Only need a PC. Has almost every single modern game and you can emulate the rest.

yup. if I had such limited space, why have 5 consoles when a single PC will do the job

@R4gn4r0k: for some reason I find the Chivalry combat system super intuitive and natural. Having stab/overhead swing bound to the mouse wheel feels great to me.

I would get frustrated in Chivalry 1 and Mordhau but they made some tweaks to Chiv 2 that make it way less frustrating and more consistent.

I dont use all the mechanics, i never feint or dodge but rely on timing/spacing and the odd kick. It's so much fun to me and so satisfying to win a hard fought duel or win out against multiple opponents. Nothing else like it honestly, its got great atmosphere and is absolutely hilarious but also has very deep gameplay with a high skill ceiling.

not inherently. I think for me, peak fun is/was Chivalry 2 so I guess I'd disagree that older games are more fun.

I think its probably true I was more easily impressed/was able to have fun in games as a kid since everything is new and novel.

I wish I liked Space Marine 2 as much as post people. I do agree it is very well presented but I found it quite boring to play through. I think it needed a bit more personality/levity, like the Orks in the first one, or the funny banter between the prisoners in Darktide.

I'll shout out Shogun 2: Total War. I remember it being a very cohesive package with the graphics, UI elements, music and voice acting. really provided that Feudal Japan atmosphere. probably my favourite Total War game.
