If they start having sales on a constant basis where the games are so cheap you have to buy them for absolutely no reason at all, then maybe it will be the Steam of consoles.

Exactly. This is pretty much the reason why I asked the question because PS+ is already doing it.

We still don't know if it'll also include multiplats from PS1, PS2, etc...

But PS+ requires you to pay a monthly/yearly bill already on top of the game you buy & the games they do are usually games that I've already played. In all honesty, I'd just be happy if they started selling their digital versions of new release games for less than retail of the hard copy. I wouldn't buy it but I just think it's stupid paying more for digital than hard copy.

No, it's just an achievement for buying the XOne on day one. You got the day one controller as well if you bought it day 1. No advantage apart from aesthetics and trophies. EDIT: or the ability to sell it for $30-40.

Considering that GS is now a mess for following stuff, I say yes. Although I'm going to have to create an excel spreadsheet in the near future to start keeping track of all the games I want, so I don't think I'd be relying on any web services.

I kind of expected a fair bit of ram to be put away. When I first heard 8gb I thought it was awesome, but they started mentioning all these other extra features which I think are awesome too but then I realised there is 1 important piece of tech needed to temporarily hold all the background tasks while they're not entirely in use and there goes roughly 50% of your ram. I kind of think they could have added a menu/system option to disable all that background stuff and unlock the rest of the RAM but developers would actually need to utilise it to warrant that change for Sony.

Unfortunately I think R* rushed the release of GTA V to beat the current(next) gen sales. They were afraid they would have lost sales from people moving on to other consoles. Ironically with Ac4, I think collectibles are by far the poorest attempt at causing initiative for exploration but the environments felt so different I wouldn't have mind much. RDR ended when you got bored exploring, I felt like RDR would never end, it felt like there was so much to do I almost hit 100% in it too, was at 99.98 or something and a bount glitched on me, GTA San Andreas ended when you won a crapload of money at casinos or collected too much money from the businesses that you worked to buy or when you got bored exploring that too similar happened with other GTAs lol but GTA V ended when the story and missions ended. Fortunately R* are releasing a free (from what I've read it should be free) DLC. Apparently the next DLC is meant to continue the 3 characters stories and even adds content for GTA Online rumoured to be heists, not sure if they want to release it at the sametime as the DLC. There was a little bit of false advertising from R* on the stuff you could do in GTAV/O, they're still my favourite company but because of GTAV/O I'm gonna be careful with their next game. As long as they pump out a few free DLCs, maybe like 5 within this year lol they might be able to redeem GTA V and add that extra continuous value that GTA games usually have and that the consumers rightfully deserve when purchasing a GTA game. A lot of the flaws with GTA V were mainly expectation flaws though, which is why it maintained a high score, I gave it a 9 but I wanted to give it a 6 or a 7 mainly due to the lack of continuous value, features or dynamics but because a lot of the game functioned as it was and I couldn't let my bias and expectations of other GTAs get in the way, so I gave it a 9. They really could have had a better dynamic experience though. Good thing is, current gen is a nice new playground for them as well and R* love experimenting with this sort of thing. I gather they'll be making a new engine, probably RAGE 2, since there's rumours of a RDR 2 in the works and RAGE might be a little outdated for current gen by now. They pushed it a bit with GTA V but not enough. Hopefully they can change that with DLCs and even change it all with current gen.

I rarely play them much anymore except on weekends every once in a blue moon. Within two nights of four or five hours each night I managed to get over 10 hate mails from gamers that lose their cool and can't stand losing. I also got kicked for beating the host once.

Why are FPS fans disproportionately so hot-headed compared to other online genres? Even compared to online fighters they're consistently over-aggressive.

It isn't an age thing because listening to them on their mics you can clearly tell a lot of them are grown men.

Because competitive FPS games, especially CoD are designed to cater to people who just want to hop into a game and kill stuff & release a lot of their anger by doing so. If they can't kill stuff and keep getting killed, their anger will be directed elsewhere, this is not a justified reason but just my theory. But this isn't only common in competitive FPS it's found in a lot of other competitive games.

If anything consoles are going to continue until they become more portable. Mobile(on the go) gaming is becoming bigger and bigger right before our eyes, but phones are not dedicated gaming devices. In another 2-3 decades (maybe less at this rate) all consoles will be eventually become portable with docks or cables to plug into TVs or by then it would be using WiFi/WiDi (since most TVs will have WiFi & WiDi inbuilt and I'd assume most consoles will start having WiDi as well) so you wouldn't even need any of that. Razer have already tried with their gaming tablet prototype, it's only a matter of time before Sony & MS start doing the samething with PS and Xbox. And yes I know Sony have Vita but I'm talking console strength in a portable device which would obviously be more powerful in the future. It happened with computers, happened with phones, tablets weren't as small as we know them to be today. Consoles will follow as well. The Playstation Vita TV allows you to stream stuff via your PSV to the TV so I'm going to predict that PSV TV will be expanded on with later handhelds, Sony will probably make it more mainstream and not just available in Asia with a very restricted library.

I picked Skyrim because it's the first TES I've finished. I played Oblivion but never finished it lol I felt like I got more of an acomplishment from Skyrim for that.

For standard editions of games I don't bother pre-ordering. If I want a collectors edition of some sort then I will pre-order. But I don't do that much now since I can't afford it and I barely have room for any more collectors edition games. I filled up the top shelf of my closet sort of.... lol
