hardly a story... the 3 threads mentioned are just the 3 sections of the base / talent tree (medical, security, tech)
you will be given quests to go get personnel to fill your base to unlock these upgrades to each of these 3 wings ( first quest is to fetch a Dr for the medical wing to unlock your first medical abilities)
it's basically a bunch of fluff. you could literally have the game with no story and no base, and rather just have a few menus for the skill trees, vendor, crafting menu. the gameplay is going to be the same casual grind regardless. the "story" is just a silly backdrop.
remember how much people hated game of throne actor voice in destiny... well, be prepared once again to be NOT moved by yet another weak narrator. the mehgan person from all the fake scripted demos, ugh. and the horrible use of mass effects garus voice actor here as an ai.
this game is so overhyped and full of marketing dollars. do not pre-order. hold off. you'll see how little content there really is soon enough.
@kappamerc: what i mean is that after a few days playing siege you've unlocked every class, yet after that you keep getting currency and daily challenges that reward you with currency... but there's nothing left to use it on...
and so my bet is the division will also have a similar issue where all the loot (except dark zone) will be worthless very soon into the game, and that's a problem if you're not interested in the dark zone.
i've seen more footage and done more research. this video is not the only video on the internet with hard data on the game. for one, go watch angry joe's video on this. (no clan support, sever graphics downgrade, boring gameplay, silly bullet sponge combat, etc etc etc). plenty of people have played the game already, because theyre the press.
i don't need to get my hands on the game to verify that the shooting is subpar. i've got eyes in my head. same for the cover system. and the hud. and on and on... to contest me on this is a waste of my time. believe what you want, but you can't win an argument with your opinions vs real facts.
i have no interest in a dark zone. i have no interest in a game that will offer me no other meaningful and sustained value outside of that gimmick. this game is a total disappointment after all the years of waiting. that's my feelings on it. deal with it.
it's shaping up to look like this game has nothing to sustain it except that dark zone. and for all the people giving it a hard pass for that reason... i say these devs shouldn't have put all their eggs in that basket. they should have delivered a good game.... you must not have much/any experience with this particular genre (not rpg, i'm talking about grief/kos/dayz type game).
these have flooded the pc games early access market all the while this game was being developed and delayed... people are fed up with all these companies trying to put their own spin on it and in the end the game is just a shell of what it should be. surely all i can say is good luck to ubisoft trying to get enough sales on this to please their shareholders. what a dumb idea this game turned out to be.
the character creator is actually not that robust. trying to shape a face results in basically nothing good. everything looks like a pre-teen. the idle animations are waifu. the costumes are waifu...
but the game is lovely. the graphics are really amazing. it is a peaceful game to relax and play. be that gather, craft, fish, run trade routes, grind mobs, whatever.
@savagerodent: currently there is no end game. it is a sandbox. for me, my end game is the same as the start game. (crafting, etc)
the level soft caps at 50 but then you grind xp slowly beyond that. guild pvp is the main "end game" activity for those who can't stop using that stupid term (it is a sandbox mmo, not a themepark),
there is a lot of crafting, gathering you can spend your free time mastering. as for typical wow-like end game pve stuff... theyre trying to add stuff but i won't hold my breath for anything amazing. they've added some world bosses but those are always boring, right... idk if they'll add dungeons at all...
personally i enjoy the fact that the NA version is the same world/classes/npc's/skills as the korean version, except NA has a lot more quests that korea doesn't have, focusing on gathering, crafting, trading, etc. it makes it feel like a real sandbox game, not a mob grinder.
actually, this could work. the reason they had to stop doing 24 was because they were running out of ways to shuffle around the supporting cast. with a new cast this unleashes the possibilities. (assuming the cast is a complete replacement)
and there's plenty of actors who could fill sutherland's shoes. don't be so narrow minded.
