Alright heres the deal guys, my pc is old, like 2004 old, but the games i want to play are about that old too. My pc is bassicaly an emachine t3985 with a bunch of upgraded parts. This is the original specs of the pc, intel celeron d 340 (2.93 GHZ) cpu, 512 mb ddr 2 ram, 80 GB hard drive, and windows xp along with onboard audio and video. Soon after buying 4 years ago though, i changed the hard drive to a 120 GB hard drive, and added another 512 mb of ddr 2 ram. I also added a geforce fx5200 and i was able to play games such as morrowind, Half life, half life 2 and counterstrike. But now shortly after reinstalling windows, none of these games are playable do to imense lag. I have also updated all drivers. So i would like to really apreciate help from you pc gurus8).

Do you really need the TV Tuner card? I'd probably scrap it altogether unless you really need it. I'm not overly familiar with video editing though, so I have no idea if it's really necessary or not.

CPU cooler also won't be necessary. It's nice, but for $15 you're not going to find anything decent.

The power supply, I wouldn't skimp on. $65 won't get you a decent unit that I'd feel comfortable running a setup like that with. The cheapest unit I'd recommend is the Corsair VX550w.

Regarding the actual build, it sounds like you're having a bit of a budget problem. You can save $100 and pick up the HD4850 if you want, or you could get a decent case like the Centurion 5 for a bit cheaper than that Apevia.

Yea man, im deffinetly on a budget, the max i wanna spend is around $1250 with monitor. Yes i will need the tv tuner card since space is becoming an issue, and I'd like to watch tv on my monitor, instead of buying a seperate tv set. The reason I'm looking for a cpu cooler is so i can oc my cpu. Is there anything decent for around $40. And i guess I can spend about $75-85 on the psu. I want this build to last me 4 years, so I'm going to use this pc for all of highschool, and after 4 years get a new one when going to college.

Hey guys, I've recently gotten into pc gaming and currently I have an nvidia geforce fx 5200, I know its old, and that it's not even a good gaming card, but back then I wasnt that much of a fan of pc gaming. Right now I have all the pc parts I want in my new pc picked out except for the psu. Besides a good recomendation for one that has all the right pin connectors and wattage, I would also like the ok on buying, and maybe some recomendations for better parts if there are any. So far i plan on using this pc for gaming, music production, a little bit of photo and video editing, browsing the internet, and also for watching movies and tv.

Well heres the parts I've picked so far.

Besides this I already have a set of speakers, mouse and keyboard, and also Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I know 64 bit would be ideal for using 4 gigs of ram, but since I will be using alot of music software that wont work with vista 64 bit. I also beleive my soundcard dosnt have drivers for vista 64 bit. And my brother got it for me at his college for $10, so im not spending an extra $100 on another os. Besides that, the cpu and sound card is a must, since I will be using the pc for music production, photo and video editing, along with games. Well on that note, is it okay to buy these parts so i can get building.
