As you know Microsoft is planning to lower the price of the 360, and there is also speculation that Sony will also cut their price. Also, as you all know both of those systems are being sold at a loss. As of right now, the Wii's main selling point is it's low price and even then, it is still making profit for the companie. Now what would happen is the Wii also lowers it price?

What kind of impact will this have on 3rd party support? Do you think even more people will purchase it?

Comments? Predictions? Flames?

Thats all i've been hearing from the Sony camp on these boards....

So no worries for SOny I guess. they got this Gen in their pocket.

I don't hate the Wii. I just find it sad that 6 million people were duped into buying it. So far, the Wii has been relying on minigames, party games, VC games, and just a few deep action/adventure games. not enough in my opinion. why do people blame sony for relying on name-brand loyalty? just look at what ninty did! I don't think it would be so popular if it wasn't made by the Mario/Zelda/Samus factory. I noticed nintendo has been getting pretty arrogant lately, bashing sony over sixaxis and MS over Viva Pinata. I am not interested in the wii-mote or nunchuck because a gamepad is simply more efficient and precise for a hardcore gamer like myself.Mordred19

Correction: Nintendo has duped 7 million people so far. And as of right now, these dumb people won't let the Wii stay on the shelves. LOL

x037leox you are posting past cocky statements from sony and everyone else present cocky statement from nintendoTnasty11

True, however, how can Nintendo be called cocky when it is merely predicting it's future sales figures based on the current sales figures?

ANybody wanna talk about cocky?

http://www.shacknews.com/extras/kutaragi/070705_kutaragi_01.x

From the father of the Playstation ...

Ken Kutagari

His remarks about a faulty square button were reposted all over the Internet. In Japan, before the launch of the US version, thousands of PSP owners were returning the system because the square button wasn't functioning as properly as the other buttons. It was discovered that the detection sensor beneath the button was not as large as the rest due to its close proximity to the LCD screen. Kutaragi decided to clear the air publicly.

This is the design that we came up with. There may be people that complain about its usability, but that's something which users and game software developers will have to adapt to. I didn't want the PSP's LCD screen to become any smaller than this, nor did I want its machine body to become any larger.

The button's location is [architectured] on purpose," Kutaragi added. "It's according to specifications. This is something that we've created, and this is our specification. There was a clear purpose to it, and it wasn't a mistake."

It made sense, but what he said next was what sent gamers into a tizzy.

I believe we made the most beautiful thing in the world. Nobody would criticize a renowned architect's blueprint that the position of a gate is wrong. It's the same as that.

It was later discovered that an error during production was the true source of the problem

Here are some more quotes... LOL

The PS3 is not a game machine. We've never once called it a game machine.

*With the PS3, our intentions have been to create a machine with supercomputer calculation capabilities for home entertainment*

*Xbox360 is more of an Xbox 1.5 than a next generation console*

*Microsoft is trailing behind us, but they are not a threat. They are good at improving [on products], but we will be advancing to the next level with revolutionary technology. Beating us for a short moment is like accidentally winning a point from a Shihan (Karate master), and Microsoft is still not a black belt. Just like with their operating systems, they might come out with something good around the third generation of their release*

*We're not going to equip [the PS3 with] a HDD by default, because no matter how much [capacity] we put in it, it won't be enough*

the PS3 is for consumers to think to themselves .............*I will work more hours to buy one. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else.*

-Ken Kutagari, Father of the Playstation.....

So, when Nintendo makes comments such as the ones you just read... then you can call them cocky...

For now, all they are doing is stating the truth... which means if sales keep going like they are going.. they will be No.1

That may come off to some of you as cocky, but thats only because the truth burns don't it?
