People said the same about the PS1 and PS2......................and they made out good....................

But then again, they didn't cost $599 at a time when gas prices are nearing $4 a gallon, the housing market wasn't crashing, the cost of food, (and nearly all commodities) wasn't rising at an alarming rate, and the U.S economy wasn't quagmired in an ultra-expensive war.

So the success of a $599 game console, at a time of an economic slump, whose "console saving" (as refered to by cows) games won't be out for another year is looking bleak....

and I love it.

Its called speculation, one representitive is speculating for an entire group of Japanese devs. Hardly something to take serious. The truth of the matter is that the Wii will have very different games then the PS3/360. A dev who makes a game for the Wii would most likly not have made that same game for the PS3/360. The Wii is very different with a very different audience and as long as it is extremely hard to port games to other consoles it will lack in 3rd party support, kind of how the Wii gets a FPS RE and a remake of 4 instead of the true next edition to the sequel which is RE 5.

People forget that even in the PS2s complete dominance during its rayne it still had most of its 3rd party games multiplatform. Why because that makes more money for the devs, and devs care about how much their game sells not how much the console sells. The Wii will never get the kind of 3rd party support the PS2 had because it doesnt allow for porting to or from PS3/360/PC. Devs will be able to make more money taking games to that trio as opposed to the Wii. The Wii may be some places where some devs try to cash in with a quick mini game or some gimmicky game but serious development for a Wii game without the option to port to make more money will be rare.

On that same note, the Wii will have alot more exclusives, games made specifically for it's controller cannot be ported over either.

I don't understand how people believe that 1 - 3 games will suddenly change many gamers mind's to spend $600. then boost the ps3 to the top.

well of course wii will get more games with the increased sales they have been garthering. ps3 games have been in development for quite some time now and when they finally do release the console sales will shoot up. ps2 had a slow start as far as games go aswell. it didnt really get its first killer app until 1 year after it had released.

I have a great paying job to but with two kids. I want a PS3 in a bad way but $600 to spend on my fun is hard to do with two kids. And only one is into gaming and he only loves Mario type games and plays Halo ounces and awhile.

BUt that would mean financial suicide..................... and then there would be no more SOny, not that i'd miss their shady company anyway. Everysince they came out with the PSX, the rest of their product line has turned to crap. They deserver to choke.

Funny you describe Sony as shady. Have you read the article in the latest Game Informer magazine about how game developers wanted to release downloadable content...map packs etc for free and M$ told them that they had to charge for them. M$ is ripping off its gamers it says.

I won't agure that point, Windows Vista operating system alone is shadiest of all things ever, with thier orwellian activation requirements and all the different confusing versions, ugggh I really hope Microsoft does not completely take over the console market. Then again, I can't decide which I hate more SOny or MS. probably Sony.
