THIS IS YOUR MISSION SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT>>>

he LCD Monitor Has many different option to consider. I thought I would start a thread about these options that could help clear things up.

My personal question revolves around resolution (native) and the ability to use different resolutions. What happens if you use a Non-Native resolution? What is the most common resolution and the best for all around gaming use? I have personally seen alot of resolutions that state 1440 x 900. Which seems like a very odd resolution for a native.

Here are the terms you are challenge with defining; and more importantly , the IMPORTANCE or each item.

Native Resolution

  • Color support
  • Contrast ratio
  • Response time(ms)
  • Brightness (cd/m2)
  • Pixel Pitch(mm)

Anyone who has a good example of a LCD with good specs should also post a link to the monitor for examples. I am currently in the market for a smaller LCD 19-20 inch myself.

What the confusion lies in is the fact that these cards have a big difference in cost and the Frame rates are not that different on 3d benchmark tests. Seems like a bamboozle to me . The GT performs about the same as the GTX and ULtra so I cannot understand the price difference. I'm a logical guy, and It seems really strange from a marketing standpoint to charge another 300.00 for a few more frames per sec and a bit larger buffer and bandwidth. Am I wrong or is this crazy?

I plan on the 8800 gt sli x2 512 AND the quad core 2.66 with 4gb ram

So it does still make some logical sense. A duo core or better still quad core will run better than a single core even if the speed of the single core is significantly higher.

I am curious about the ability of older games on a quad core specifically. It wouldn't make much sense that an older game would not run as well on a quad core, but once again I am lacking in specifics.

And what about Vista, 64 bit. It would seen to be better to have a quad core for vista 64 bit.

Thanks for everyones help, this is the best forum on gaming there is!

Ok, The question of the day for the guy who has been out of it for a while.

Single core speed versus Duo Core Versus Quad Core.

If they all clock at 2.66 ghz Is any of the multicore chips really faster? If so by how much?

Crysis lists a 2.8gHZ processor is needed to play (minimum)

What if you have a quad core at 2.66mhz? Will it run? Logic says it must but it seem logic and clock speeds have not been in the same building, much less the same country for a while.

Strange things these days. My guess is the clock speed of a quad core would bury they single core version in performance on games and the like. But I could eb very wrong.

so duel sli gt8800 is the pretty much the same as a gtx or ultra, but you can over clock the ultra>?

Why the hell do they charge so much more for overclocking ability. Same with the core 2 duo and the C2d extreme?

Thanks. My head has stopped exploding.
