Meh, the tech is actually quite mature (the 3D tv's use the same general tech.... synchronized shutters). And a ton of games support 3D.... some better than others most that do do it pretty good. Here the games that I have that support 3D: GTA 4..... 9/10 BFBC2..... 9/10 Batman AA..... 9.5/10 NFS Shift..... 9.5/10 NFS Underground 2, Carbon, Most Wanted, Pro Street..... 9/10 Mass Effect 1 (downloading ME2 from Stream)..... 8/10 Battlefield 2..... 6.5/10 Dirt 2..... 8/10 UT3..... 8.5/10 COD4..... 8.5/10 COD-WAW...... 8.5/10 Again check out this thread (http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=90883) for the games that work well with Nvidia 3D.I'm not really "on board" when it comes to 3D anyway. I want to give the tech time to evolve. Plus I'm hooking my rig up to a HDTV that is not 3D.

[QUOTE="xuimod"]If your budget is that high you might as well go 3D..... as in Nvidia 3D Vision.smc91352A lot of people don't go with 3D because of reasons other than the budget. (eg. glasses) I probably shouldn't be bothered by something you probably didn't even mean, but I didn't like that phrasing. Oh I definately mean it. I have 3D and its awesome. Try it out buy a monitor and glasses from a place that takes returns easily (Amazon comes to mind).
Not to but in on your topic...But I would like to see what they have to say for me as well. And my budget is 3 to 4 thousand. So go nuts.

If your budget is that high you might as well go 3D..... as in Nvidia 3D Vision. I have a 3D capable desktop and it is flat out awesome. Honestly its hard for me to go back to 2D gaming. GTA 4, BFBC2, NFS-Shift, Batman AA are all jaw dropping and stunning in 3D.
And believe it or not a lot of games support 3D. To get a good idea of which games work well in 3D see this threadhttp://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=90883(this is from Nvidia's official forum on 3D Vision).
The system requirements for Nvidia 3D Vision can be found here http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-requirements.html.
For Nvidia 3D vision basically you need an Nvidia GPU, Nvidia 3D Vision glasses and compatible monitor (see the link above to see which monitors are compatible).
I built a desktop specifically for 3D. I spent around $1400.... Phenom x4 955, GTX 260 sli (in hindsight I probably just should have got an 470 but i'm happy with the sli). Money very well spent imo. 2D gaming just seems lame now.
Google 'building pc basics' or 'building custom pc basics' or something like that and read some of the links that you find. Just make sure you have straight in your head all the basics parts of building a pc. And read some of the links that explicitily tell you the steps of building a pc.
Also use another great resource..... Youtube. On youtube they have videos of how to install a motherboard, how to install a power supply, how to install a video card, etc. Watch those videos to
Finally, get a full sized case. Don't get a mid-tower or anything smaller than a full tower because, as a noob, you want plenty of space to work with. Because also as a noob, there's pretty much a 1000% chance something is going to go wrong with your intial build and you will have to take out and install re-install some parts.
When you build a pc as a noob and something goes wrong, its makes you very anxious. And if you buy a mid-tower case or smaller (ie if you buy something smaller than a full tower) then the whole 'crowdedness' of the inside of the case is just going to add to the anxiety.
Anxiety from being a noob + Anxiety from intial build not working + Anxiety of working in a cramped case = miserable, miserable experience troubleshooting
Trust me, get a full sized tower.
I recommend the Coolmaster HAF 932. Its the case I have and it costs about $140 on Amazon (it has a lot of great reviews on Amazon and Newegg).
Also, know if you choose an Intel cpu and you want to upgrade the cpu in 2-3 years you will probably have to get a new motherboard because Intel changes cpu sockets like crazy (the i7 cpu series alone has 3 different sockets).
But AMD cpu's are simple as far as sockets go...... AMD will probably stick with the AM3 socket for a few years. So as a noob builder, I recommend you get an AMD cpu (Phenom x4 or Phenom x6).
Wow.... holy crap.
I didn't realize how freaking beautiful this game was until I joined a match in spectator mode. This game looks un-freaking believable!
If you haven't already done so, join a match in spectator mode.

I'm considering buying SF4 (actually Gamefly should be sending me a copy next week for rental). I was wondering in this game are you able to pull off moves using the analog stick (quarter turn, stuff like that) or is it only with the D-pad?

IMO, Unreal Tournament 3 is one of most underappreciated, underrated PS3 games out there. Its a shame more people don't play it.... its a freakin great game.
But its only selling for $20 on Amazon...... so a great oppurtunity to get a great game for cheap.
