I don't know, as a gamer that's probably going with a PS4, I have to admit that Titanfall looks awesome. It may not have the most "next-gen" graphics, but it looks like a blast to play. In reality, if this were multiplat day 1, PS4 fans would be going ga ga over it.

Fortunatley though, I can still play this on PC if I decide to go with a PS4. So I'll be playing this either way :D

How many Mario games have they vomited out in the past year or two? Nintendo is a joke, plain and simple.

Here we are on the verge of a new gen, with games like Titanfall, Killzone, The District, and all the new sports games about to go live...and what does Nintendo have to offer? Pikmin 3? Another Rayman game? Seriously?

We're about a year into the life of the Wii U? Where is the awesome 1080p Zelda game that could actually challenge what the PS4/X1 has to offer? Or an amazing new Metroid game with slick graphics and awesome multiplayer? What about a good Starfox game? Or maybe even a "grown up" Mega-Man game, with 3rd person perspective and awesome combat?

But no...none of those have even been announced, or have any evidence that they're "on the way". Instead we have Paper Mario Pizza World and Lugi Condo 3.

Nintendo is completely irrelevant. They've reduced themselves to mobile gaming level. Hell maybe even Leapster/Leap Frog level.

Nintendo as a console needs to die. Plain and simple.

So I guess the forums is the new gamespot blog now?

Gargus

No, it's a forum to discuss the different gaming platforms. Which is exactly what my post was about. The merit of PC's in the living room for families, versus that of consoles.

Hope that clears things up for you.

I have had the occasional challenging install, but the upside of PC gaming can't be expressed in a single post... as a lifelong consolite, I was blown away when I began PC gaming earlier this year.... its amazing. TheEroica

I agree. This isn't about consoles being better than PC's. But in terms of which is the best living room solution, for me personally, PC's can't compete with consoles. Ease of use. Media machine. And we're going to get some great games.

So effectively, this just killed my dreams of having a Steambox in the living room that replaced a console as my all in one media device.

Which is why I will be buying one of the new consoles this holiday season, rather than building a steambox like I had originally wanted.

Here's my anecdotal evidence:

I bought my son Sonic Generations last night because it was only sale via Steam, and he just absolutely loves Sonic. Well I got it all setup and ready to go for him this morning. Start screen was up, all he had to do was start the game. Well his grandma, who's watching him today, in the process of giving him the controller to play...did "something", and they could no longer play the game. Well now I get a text from my wife, asking me to call home and help them out.

Well, as it turns out, Sonic Generations was already running, but they were trying to reopen the game in Steam, and was promptly given the error message "Game already in process", or that's the gist of it. Ultimatley I was able to walk them through the process of switching back to Sonic Generations, and all is right in the world.

However...this kind of stuff is really a deterent for me going full blown PC in the living room. I've researched for countless hours, trying to configure a "console like" PC, with similar form factor and functionality. But at the end of the day, it's just too much work. And evidentally, even with Steam Big Picture Mode, Windows still manages to be the fly in the ointment.

This is a bit of a side rant here...but the above example, combined with many other irritations, has really led me to hate Windows. So many limitations. The only reason Windows is needed is because of Direct X. That's it. So PC gamers are stuck with this relic of an operating system, that Microsoft can't even manage properly. End of side rant.

TLDR version: PC's + Son + Grandma do not play well together. Consoles you have my money this holiday because of this fact.

6800k +7750 is like a 7670...you'll need more than that for 1080P/30fpsMonsieurX

How is the 6800k + 7750 equal to a lower tiered graphics card?

I have a mini-ITX "console/steambox" project that's currently in the planning phases. My goal is to do everything the next gen consoles will do(10 foot interface, blu ray, streaming, games) but obviously at higher performance with the added benefit of PC exclusives and versatility. My budget is $600, which is only $100 more than the Xbox One, so I feel as though it's a fair price. I have no need for an OS, as I'll be using my existing Windows 8 key.

I have a general list of parts already researched and tentatively picked out, but I'm really at a quandary when it comes to the CPU/GPU combo.

During my research, I discovered that the new AMD A10 6800k will do h-xfire with a 7750, which to me sounds like a really good option for a console type PC.

But I have several questions and concerns about this.

First of all, from my understanding the new FX2+ boards will be coming out soon, so I'm worried that I'll be building my machine on outdated hardware. Should I be concerned about this?

Second, what kind of performance can I expect from the 6800k + 7750? I've seen videos of people running games at higher settings, but it's only @720p. My bare minimum is 1080p @30fps(rock solid 30), but I have no benchmarks to determine if this combo can achieve that for current and next gen games.

My third concern is whether or not I'm making a mistake by going with AMD in the first place. In addition to the 6800k I've also made builds around the x4 750k, as it's a cheap quad core processor that matches the PII x4, but with the adde ability of fitting on to a mini-ITX board. Is it possible to make a similarly cost effective build using Intel? Is the 3220 worth looking at, or will all the high end games be bottlenecked by a dual core?

And finally, if I do go Intel, is Haswell worth it? I can shave off nearly $50 off my cpu/mobo costs by going Ivy Bridge. If I go that route, will I be losing any sort of significant performance? And am I in danger of being left behind by Intel and the new games coming out?

Thanks for any tips and advice.

Ummmmmm... the presenter in that video clearly states that this is exclusive to Windows 8.1 machines and next generation consoles LIKE the Xbox One.

Never mentioned that this was exclusive to X1.
