Dissida! Must buy!

Recently I played the Final Fantasy Dissida demo available on PSN, and while it is very much the same demo at E3, I finally had a chance to play more with the game and I must admit... I'm HOOKED!

I really, REALLY want this game. It's just plain fun, and ridiculous... Perhaps cause I'm a bit FF fanatic or perhaps cause the game is really great, but this would perhaps be the second game I buy for mY PSP, so that means a lot too!! :P

For those who do not know, Dissidia is basically SquareEnix's version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl with Final Fantasy characters. However, it's the over-the-top fighting and nostalgia factor (a bit) that have me hooked. This game looks great, and the fighting is pure fun. It's very simple and accessible, but playing the demo numerous times, I've uncovered some satisfying combos and learned a bit more about the depth in the fighting system.

While it may be simplistic, I think there will be some depth and balancing that should hold up. I know you'll be able to equip and level up, but it does seem like someone who takes time will be able to beat someone who may just randomly mash buttons. While it is a demo, I have learned how to chain attacks with some characters that result in some satisfying finishing blows or combo ends like casting Ultima on your foe or summong a hailstorm of swords to rain on your foe. It's just really exciting and fun... did I mention fun? :P

Alright enough about a simple demo, anyone wanna donate money for me to buy Dissidia? :) Please? :( Also Blazblue too... if you don't mind... Though my GF doesn't like it when I play fighters, yet she won't have a problem with Dissidia... I think.. :( So... sneak Blazblue in :P

Mirror Effects are for summer days!

Am I trying to hard with my title names? I dunno I always like to interject a mix of words to things currently going on just to keep it original because "Life Update #29527857" sounds boring. :P

So if you haven't learned by now, I'm currently playing Mass Effect and Mirror's Edge right now for my gaming moods. However I admit ME is getting more of my time. It's partly because

1. I want to finally complete the game

2. I want to redo another game

3. I want to have it beaten by the time ME 2 is out!

So while playing Mass Effect I've come to realize just how freak'n awesome this game is. Seriously, I know I seem late, but this game is just wonderful. I still think the dialog wheel system is fantastic. It really makes talks more engaging and it's nice to have a choice on how to react and act on situations. I've got 30 hours in the game, I'm at level 37 last I checked, and I honestly don't know how far I am off in the game but
I just had to come to a choice in the game where I had to choose between two characters, and only one was going to live in the situation. I chose Ashley Williams cause I never even used the other guy, Kaiden. I feel bad though as I really would have loved to save both people. This area of the story took place on a planet, where there was a lab for breeding Krogans (I also managed to not kill Wrex and "resolve an impossible situation with charm or intimidate" and so I didn't lose TWO people thankfully. However, back to the story, this lab took place on a planet who's name I forgot to be frank, but I had to fight Saren on it (though the fight was easy) and I met the Reaper guy who Saren's really working for and I am really finding this story to be really good. :O
So far the story is really ramping up and I dunno how far I am to the finish, but I am taking my time doing lots of sidequests, doing lots of exploring. I know most of the sidequest are generally "Go to planet X in Sector Y of the Z system and find this small building, enter it and destroy all that live inside it" but reading the text about the mission, and kind of knowing WHY you're going there helps keep it a little more interesting. Still I'd LOVE to see more variety in the missions instead of them all boiling down to firefights in a small room.

I'm not sure if the game uses a auto level system or not for the enemies, but because of all my grinding and side missions I have found the story missions to be quite easy too. I take down bosses down pretty quickly and fire fights with side missions last no more than a minute at most to be frank. So it does keep it a bit dull on that part, but overall the game is still fantastic. The powers, the story, the TALKING even with other characters is just so engaging. I installed the game onto the 360's HDD and it runs a lot smoother I notice. Less pop-ins, faster load times, and somewhat smootehr but still the game has it's consistent framerate issues which aren't that bad to be frank, but irksome nonetheless. (Almost makes me wish I could play the PC version :P )

Now I know this mostly was dedicated to Mass Effect so a small portion will be my upcoming summer days and plans.

1. Mirror's Edge, LOVE this game. Really challenging but I love trying to find new routes and increase my speed runs, I want to play the story mode again on Hard and do more Time Trials which are fun! I really do hate the long load times though when playing the game, because when I have to restart for one mistake on a speed run it really does add up and gets a bit irksome.

2. Summer is going great so far, spending time with my gf and friends. Nothing new has really happened but I'll be taking her to the beach for the first time this Wednesday, and we've got other summer plans we'd like to do as well as upcoming events like the FF concert in San Francisco that we'll be going too.

3. Summer has been pretty much filled with swimming, going out, playing games and the occasional nap. Yesterday me and my gf napped in the park, it was so nice out you'd think we'd do other things, but when we got there a short nap just hit us both. Still we played some frisbee and that was fun and ate some good food for a picnic at least. :P

4. I start school TOMORROW, that's Tuesday in case you're wondering. I'm excited, I can't wait to start, but I do need to get my supplies. I think I'll get them after tomorrow. Since the first days are usually syllabuses and what not so I will wait to see WHAT I need. It was a short summer though, only three weeks, but that's expected when you go to a trade school like DeVry.

That concludes my lengthy blog, hope you all are doing well. Sorry for the long blogs, :P I hope you're all having a good summer too.

Soon the madness will end! The darkness... it will come for us alll!

Err, sorry I couldn't help but inject the Eternal Darkness quote there... I think that's how it went. I forgot.... and now I want to play that game again...

Anywho, I'm kind of excited, or hopeful really, that tomorrow I'll probably have my house back.... yay!

Now before you all go "What? You're homeless?" "What happened?" "I'll fight the darkness!" "No, I'll join the darkness mwahahahahah!!!!"

I mean, that tomorrow I may have my house back together, because for the past... month I believe, ... yeah month. My house has been in the remodeling stages. My living room was being expanded upon, and madness was ensuing. My lovely HDTV was sitting there, being unused, my PS3 and 360 neglected from being unable to use them. (Why didn't I put them to my HDTV in my room? not enough room for connections, and I ended up playing other games to tide me over and catching up.)

For the while, I've been playing Baten Kaitos on GC, Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon on DS, I beat FF VI Advance finally, and played some Team Foretress 2 even :D

Though I admit I can't wait to go back to my 360/PS3 again. I must invest more time into Mass Effect, I must play more Mirror's Edge, I must play some other games so I can give them back to my gf... :P and well... I miss the systems.

However, something does tell me I won't have time for all that. Even if I am on my summer break until the 6th of July I must do some important things first... like find a new job (one that will help me with school and pay me some money for once....) and focus on school, as well as prep early for my birthday. :P Actually my 21st birthday isn't till the 30th of July so that's a bit of ways away. More so I have to prep for the FF concert I'm going to with my gf at San Fran. so I need to look for some rooms...

Other than that, life's been well. Fire Emblem is sweet and I'm loving it again. I've yet to beat it, but I'm really getting back into it. FF VI is amazing as always, Baten Kaitos is very fun, different, and the story has me hooked so far. I want to know what's going on, even if the voice acting is VERY bad... :P other than that, I hope that I can give some time into Mirror's Edge and perfect my level runs, I feel I've neglected the game on this part, and I must search and do better! I must try to beat Mass Effect before Mass Effect 2 is released! and... that's about it. :P

E3 Trip! (I know I'm a little late on this)

So I went to E3 on Wednesday this week and I have to say, it was AWESOME! Totally amazing and I would love to get back in again somehow... (won't disclose how I did it :P ) but it was fun! :D

Now I really am sorry to say I won't to a giant blog posting like I did here. (Also I forget if my union is private view or not, so if the link doesn't work I'll grab the HTML and post the posts later) Because it's TOO much to repeat and maybe I'll swipe the HTML code and just post it here again next time. :P Right now I'm just going to give you bullet point impressions, answer any questions you have posted here, and spam you...err I mean post pictures! :D

Here we go!

square-enix

(Yes, that is me and Adam Sessler! It was so cool to meet him and even talk to him. I'd like to have that chance again, also I met Kevin Pereriah (sp?) too, but no pic with him. )

More here

Now to detail my impressions in bullet points! I'll try to list as many as I can, I feel I may reach GS's limits soon... so here goes!

 • Square-Enix booth was lacking. Mostly video, few demos. Dissidia is awesome though, gf says FF CB demo was too much cutscenes not enough gameplay.
 • Played Muramasa: Demon Blade, fun! I mean looks beautiful, will be a great game no doubt. I want. I still need to finish Odin Sphere too...
 • Sony booth was packed, played Ratchet (great), Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (as Ayane no less! And it rocked! MUST HAVE!!), GT PSP (meh... it was ok, not a sim fan really and prefer forza, not to mention Sim on PSP? Huh? ehh....)
 • MS booth was nice, but only really played one game as lots of other games didn't have my interest and I forgot to play Forza 3 :( Played Halo ODST, it's pretty cool. More Halo, but I enjoyed it.
 • Nintendo booth: OMG I think I'm going to play my Wii a lot in the coming year. Wii Sports Resort, Red Steel, Silent Hill: SM, Sin and Punishment 2 and NSMB blew me all away! Must have! Also I'm SOLD on WM+ no joke, Red Steel 2 was amazing and fun!
 • G4 booth was the last stop, it was fun to be there, got to meet some G4 peeps and see them up close. It was kind of cool. Saw Cliffy B, Kristin Holt, Olivia, Morgan Webb, Adam Sessler (see above pic), Kevin, and someone from Naughty Dog demoing Uncharted 2 (OMG! MUST BUY!!!!!) Also I was on T.V.!! If anyone had recorded it, we're at the end, when they close for the credits and you'll see me behind Morgan Web on her left)

Also I must say, E3 is TOO big for one day. There was so much I wanted to see, do, and play. :( Uncharted 2 had a MASSIVE line for Co-Op and MP, MAG did as well as GoW III. Would have liked to see Konami's and Sega's booth as well as visit a few others too. Gah!! However, I must say, after walking, standing in lines, and running around, E3 was still amazing, despite how sore I was the night after. Any questions? I will answer anything you have for me. :)

E3 and Me

So I won't say much, but I'm going to the big event. :) Wed. or Thurs really. So I won't be there the first two days, but yeah... :) I'll say how and maybe have pics of the event too. :D

A little insight to work, and my life

So, I just thought I'd talk a bit about what it's like for the life of a Dodger vendor employee... More so cause Yesterday was quite bad, and someone did request it :P so why not?

Well firstly, when I arrive at work, it's about an 2 hours early. Sign in time is an hour and half before the game starts, so I arrive early to try and beat traffic since most games are at night anyways. When I got to work, I take a few minutes to find parking, and I must say.... people SUCK! I swear, what's up with people who can't park?

Look, I realize that the man made lines aren't always the best, and I can understand you not wanting your car to be dented if someone opens their car, but I really hate people who feel the need to park over two spaces. It irks me so much, because they don't want their crappy honda Prelude (my first car, and I loved her!) or some other beaten unworthy car that doesn't deserve two spaces, to get a ding. I mean seriously? :? Also, I really hate when people don't know how to park. They park their car at a slant, so they peak over to the other side of the parking spot, and it renders the entrie spot USELESS!!

Why? Because you only have about 3 inches to get out your car when you open the door, and their car takes up a bit of the other spot, so you can't fit and get out or you'll get hit, or hit their car. It's completely stupid...

Also yesterday on the shuttle, I REALLY wanted to shoot myself, or the speakers in the shuttle. See we have to park outside the stadium, in an employee parking spot, then take a shuttle to the stadium and be dropped off. However yeterday's driver to the stadium played horrendous music. If you live in CA, or So Cal, the station is "Power 106" and it's mostly Hip-Hop music, but gosh that music plays the same crap everyone else does, and that genre of music doesn't fly to me. Especially when it's just loud, blaring, and annoying. I don't really know the artists, but one song's a remix of "You spin me right round, baby round round, like a record baby, when you go down down." and it's a girl singing this, she sucks total arse. The music and beats suck and I hate hearing that song. Also, I am sure it's an innuendo, but hearing the girl saying "when you go down down" just makes it more revolting. I must say I was never more glad to hear the commercials on the radio ever since that day...

Anyways, when we get to our drop off station, We wait and kill some time inside the stadium till we have to sign up. It's kind of nice being able to lounge around the stadium, and have free access (literally) ANYWHERE. A few friends said they've come here so early, before batting practice, that they can go down to the field... I would probably try that, if I really wanted to arrive to work THAT early. (It's about two hours more earlier than we come)

When we sign up, we line up based on seniority. What this means is, how many game's you've worked. The farthest ahead guy has 4,500 games... so no one will be beating that soon, with the nearest one not even HALF that. :P His name is Roger Dodger, and he's some big famous vendor, but to me... I must admit he's a cool guy but I don't idolize him or anything. So yesterday we were in line, waiting, and I knew that I'd probably regret coming in today by this time, because

1. The game is pretty empty

2. There's a LOT of vendors that day and when I got up... these people had pretty much taken all the items. Becaue I have a few more games than other people, I pretty much just barely made it.

When I got my item it was Frozen Lemonade. It was all I could get, but considering how hot the day was earlier, I felt it would do ok.

However, Mother Nature decided to turn up the cold and it was too cold for anyone to want the item. so I sold really nothing that day. I only made 17 bucks, and that's for about 4 hours of work. Was it worth it? No... I was bitter, sad, and disappointed. I knew this would happen, and in fact I'm torn between going today or not. The Lakers are playing a game, and they literally steal our audience, so we practically have a low count of people there guaranteed. However, maybe the seniors will know this and not come and it may give me a good item. So... I'm deciding...

So as I leave for home, get back on the shuttle to go to the parking lot to get to my car and get home. I was disappointed, and bummed quite a bit... However work isn't always as bad. Sometimes I come back just tired, but happy, when I see $80 days or even $60 or somewhere there. Also, it's a nice workout, and I don't do much, so I need the workout.

Usually when I'm home, I lay on my bed, relax a bit, call my gf and talk to her or go to sleep if I'm super tired. In reality I only work for about 2-3 hours at most, because we can leave around the 5 or later innings, and I usually leave around the 6 or 7th inning. By then people are usually leaving or not buying anymore. It's not a bad job, but it will not really help when my last few checks which are bi weekly give me only a total of 125 each. :| Sometimes I get near 200, but I've not gotten anything more than that, and it's really heart breaking to see that I work quite hard, but I get paid very little or nowhere for what I feel is worth it, because frankly... I need the money, and I do try my best, but this is what happens when you work commission paid jobs. :x

So... that's about it. I knew I'd say more life stuff, but there's no point right now. This blog is too long, so I'll save it for later... :P

My little Surprise

So recently Nintendo released their "09 lineup" rather an update to it, cause

1. I hope that isn't the full line up

2. It says int he title :P

anyways, the bit of info that was thrown in there made my day today was..

"Other Wii titles coming to Japan in 2009 include Cosmic Walker, Kensakusu, Spurn Smasher, Dynamic Zan, Sin & Punishment 2, Punch-Out!!, 100 Go de Start! Eikaiwa, Endless Ocean 2, Hoshi no Kirby, Minna ga Shuyaku no NHK Kohaku Quiz Gassen, and Line Attack Heroes. Only two DS games are on the ticket for 2009: Tomodachi Collection and Famicom Wars DS2, but the lack of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks on the Japanese list leads us to believe that this isn't a final breakdown. "

http://wii.ign.com/articles/981/981101p1.html

Well, there's an Advance Wars game coming. The thing is... i'm curious why it says "DS 2" as this would make it the THIRD Advance Wars game. Is this Dual Strike 2? It'd be nice to visit Andy and the gang, but you know... there's like no where that story can go frankly. Also I want more Days of Ruin and it's gameplay tweaks. I want more of that universe, and the grittier tone.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait till E3, but I can tell you I'm completely happy to hear (but of course I knew this would be coming) that a new Advance Wars game is on it's way. :D Rawr!!

You and I? We'll make history!!

Well my fellow forumites, friends, peers, students, an all that other goodness... :P

How are you all doing lately? I recently decided to give a bit of an update in my blog, a few things going on and what's up and what's not. This won't be too long though, I promise. It's starting right.....

NOW!

So last night I had a dream (remember Yoshi... keep it short.... ) and so... I really found it stranges. In my dream my family and I were walking down a street, my aunt and her family had a new car, and then when they parked their car, Kratos from God of War STOLE the car. Not sure why, but before he did, he gave it a bit of a brutal beat down, then ran off with the beast... err car and drove away. Thing is... My girlfriend was in that car still!! Not sure where they want, or if she just was going out with Kratos now  but... it was strange. So I waited for them to return home at my place, and while I was there some stranger things happened. Mostly involving greek gods, gorgons and other creatures, till Kratos came in and saved the day.

So when I asked him where my girl was, he said she was on Mount Olympus cause he gave her a throne, and I was like :o then  and then.. well the dream didn't last long before my brother woke me up but I guess Is hould be glad cause it involved me and Kratos fighting and well... I wouldn't want to fight him you know... It was... odd, but different I guess. Maybe I just am wanting to play some GoW but don't know it.

Also, I didn't get a job I went for an interview on Monday. I got the reply yesterday on Tuesday, so I'm a bit bummed about that... :( I was hoping to get it, but they never told me why. It seemed to have been a pre-written message. It just said "We are glad you showed interest in applying here, however we have chosen another candidate, but we thank you for your time. " That was the gist of it basically, it was written in two paragraphs but it just meant that really. :P

So the hunt continues, looking for new places to work while I still am employed with Dodgers Stadium. Which, by the way, it's not as bad, but... I do want something closer, better, and more consistent. Though, I'm very well on my way to make this check the biggest check I've had ever with them... :P So let's see how it turns out.

Ok, so that is it... a few more tidbits. Playing RE 5, trying to get all trophies, but now I'm stopping for a bit. I realized trophy/achievement whoring is not as fun for me, so... I don't really want to ruin RE 5 anymore cause i do love it, but am getting sick of it too. So now I'm back to Mirror's Edge (trophy whoring that) and other games I want to beat are Resistance Fal of Man, Ratchet and Clank, F.E.A.R., Mass Effect (yes I know I'm behind  ) and I really want to start Baten Kaitos that I borrowed from my gf.

Well sorry that was a bit long... :P Err I tried... ^_^;;

Take care everyone

Complete Global Saturaion!!!

Hello folks! How are you all doing?

I thought I'd just give you guys another random update with my life, as I'm bored, and feel I need to give an update. :P

I'm really trying to kill time, as I wait for my girlfriend to come back to me, because she left me for the week... and now I don't know how ... ok I'll stop the water works. I do miss her, but she'll be back Saturday, so what dirty deeds have I been doing while she has been away? :o

Playing Resident Evil 5 mainly. For those who don't know, I LOVE this game. I mean, I am going to rate this game soon, and I think I'll write a review soon for it. Mercenaries has become an addiction, upgrading all weapons, unlocking my trophies (Got the PS3 version, otherwise I'd be calling them achievements. :P ) and after all is said and done, I don't know when but sometime soon I'll try and complete Professional mode. (Though right now I just want to get gold and unlock achievements and play Mercenaries for a while.)

Also, I'll be done with my first session of school soon, and start my next session soon and almost be done with my first term in school, YAAAY!!! School is going well so far, it's really fun and I love this place. I can't wait till I take courses in my major and see how it is... :D

Work itself is not bad, I think I'm starting to enjoy working at Dodger Stadium, however I must admit that I really am tired of walking up and down steps too. Oh well, it is exercise too though, so I guess it's not TOO bad. However, I may also have another job, I have to schedule an interview with the state of CA. My friend works with them, and they are looking to hire, so she put my resume in and now I got an e-mail asking to set up a date, so that's cool. :D They say they are very flexible with school, which is nice, and it's only about 10 mins away from home too. So nice! :D

Well other tidbits, I can only say, can't wait to see my girlfriend again. I also can't stop playing RE 5, and also I am planning to go to the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert in San Francisco with my girlfriend July 18th. It would be a road trip, but should be fun!! :) We're planning it right now, because she just saw the concert at home and wants us to go. So I would love to, now I just need to save up some money and we should be fine. :)

Beat RE 5: Impressions *Spoiler Free*

Well now, I finally got around to beating Resident Evil 5 yesterday. While at my girlfriend's house, we played the last chapter all the way through and finally beat the game. I must say, I LOVE this game. :D

Alright, I also must mention I beat the game later that night when I got home on my own system (was at chapter 6 as well) and it went a lot faster since I knew what to do. I must say, co-op really makes the difference in this game.

I know how some people don't like the game and some do, whether it's because the game didn't change up it's control schemes at all since RE 4, or because it's just more RE 4 in HD, but I must say that I'm really close to calling this my favorite game of this gen again, like RE 4. Now before you throw those sickles at me and pipe bombs, learn that I'm just stating this because I've played this game a majority with my gf and perhaps it's also because we've just had lots of fun moments in the game together playing co-op, but regardless I'm looking forward to go a majority or the whole game solo again.

First off, I will say, that alone, Sheva is annoying. Especially later on. Oh gosh, the fight with the final boss was annoying. As Sheva just wasted all her ammo on him, ignoring the fact that there's only a window of opportunity where he's vulnerable, so she pretty much wasted all her ammo on him, and it had NO effect. :| Lastly, it's also harder to fight the last boss, since Sheva stays to you like your shadow, and it's a LOT easier if you had a pal who could distract him and then shoot the weak point, but no.... Sheva won't do that. :| Also lastly, I found out that the boss battle could end so quickly... Me and my gf did it a weird way, but we beat it too. It seems a quick time event was all you had to do. :|

Now, with that aside, I must say I do love almost everything else about the game. I'm not sure if it's because I've been in a big, BIG RE fan mode as of late. My gf bought Umbrella Chronicles not too late, I cannot wait to buy RE: Darkside Chronicles, and I really hope to play the other RE games like Code Veronica, RE 2 and 3 and even 0 now. (Capcom, if you're reading this, DELIVER!! I swear I'll buy them, right now. Put them on XBLA/PSN/Wii's VC or re-release them with updated graphics, something!!!)

RE 5 to me just is a fun game. It's co-op is a great experience I felt, as you really felt you had to rely on your partner. I mean, yeah RE is all about surviving, being alone, and RE 5 really removes a lot of that feeling, but this co-op stuff works great I found. Mostly because Sheva's AI is sporadic. Helpful one second, in the way the next. Also, it was just enjoyable to play with. They really did make it feel like a co-op effort. However, I must say, split-screen co-op is annoying. (Capcom, can you please update and fix this somehow? :( I know Halo 3 had this problem before when it first came out, later on though it updated it and now my MP games use the full screen of my 65" HDTV instead of being stuck in this wierd 4:3 ratio and using even less screen estate.)

Well RE 5 was a good run, but I must say what's RE 6 going to have? I mean RE 5 closes up everything pretty much, what more can we expect? I can't wait to see, but hope it's not lame either... Where's Ada? Where's Leon?

I dunno but I just hope RE 6 won't change too much too. I like the control setup. I know some wish they could move and shoot, but I really feel that would take out a LOT from the game. You never could in any RE main series, but I do think maybe a dodge button would be helpful. (Didn't RE 3 have this?) Also, if anything I guess moving with a melee weapon would be nice, but make it slow movement too. It's a bit annoying to not be able to just hit the guy with your stun rod or knife because he's like a centimeter out your distance and you have to move up to him by first dropping your weapon, pushing forward, press the weapon to hold out your melee weapon, and swing again (and hope he won't retaliate).

To me though, I love the more focus on action. I know some people miss the Zombies, but I don't think Zombies would be as scary. They are generally slow moving enemies, and these crazed villagers to offer more fear and not to mention they are human and can use weapons too. Zombie bites and scratches are like a kitten compared to these crazed villagers that can use weapons, run, and use cover.

Also, I must admit the cover system should have been better focused, it's a bit annoying that certain walls had to use it, but I also didn't want it to be like Gears either. It'd be nice if you could sift along the wall you're hugging too instead of twisting and turning. Still despite all that's said, the game is very enjoyable. I kind of would like to see how MP plays, but methinks it would be very boring too or frustrating as there are some quirks you can exploit in the game a bit.

Well with that said, sorry for the long blog.... I know I do this a lot... so... just leave a random comment if you feel like it. :P
