I'd say go for it. Not only is the VB a completely unique console and a great addition to any collection, but it has a handful of games that are quite fun and reasonably priced. As for the issue with headaches, I geuss some people get them, but me and my brother never experienced any problems, so I geuss its different for every person.

original wasn't online i don't believe

Right, the original wasn't, but a second, online only game was released.

Anyways, I think that it's a unique and fun enough game that you should pick it up. Is it complete in box?

I recently bought a Game Gear off of Ebay. I never owned one back in the day, I wanted one, but they were too expensive for my welfare family. They just kicked Gameboy's but in every way! The color screen vs. Gameboy's ugly green and darker green screen, better graphics, and better sound. But now that I own one I'm noticing a major flaw with it that I couldn't tell by watching others play it, the controls are glitchy. They are far from precise controls, and your character will often move around too fast for your eyes to quite catch-up. Another problem is that on many games the screen seems like it was cut short. You can't see too far ahead of you and you run into enemies much easier as a result. It takes all the fun out of a game if you have to slowly walk through levels just to stay alive. I'm not talking about just one game, either. I own a few and I'm noticing this problem with both of my Sonic games, The Adventures of Batman and Robin, X-Men, and Robocop vs. Terminator. Ristar plays like a champ, though. Anyone else have a similar experience with Gamer Gear, or is mine going out maybe? -Nate-Emerald_Warrior

I'm geussing this part is the result of screen blur from the on-screen action moving too fast, it's just something you have to get used to, as most handheld systems have it to some degree.

Ugh. The mere thought of what this is going to do to NES sales on Craigslist or whatever other sites makes me go crazy. People who might not know all that much about game systems might see this story and go, "oh hey, I've got one of those in my attic, I should put it up on Craigslist for $1000, somebody will really be getting a steal!" :P

You saw alot of crazy overpriced 2600 auctions when Antique Roadshow placed the value of a 2600 at $100-$200, and people used the show to try and legitimize their price.... so I won't be too surprised when Craigslist goes crazy with NESes using this auction as a justification.

There hasn't been one of these threads in a while so I decided to start a new one, to save on having a massive post I set up a gallery here http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?app=gallery&module=user&user=24423&do=view_album&album=465 some notable things you can't see, Impossible mission 7800 sealed, Alien Brigade 7800, Water Ski 7800, not really good picture but Arcadia supercharger and three tapes all with their boxes, Wisdom tree tape is a promotional tape that I've found is on an infinite loop so I think it was a tape that a store would play on a tv next to the games all day. Also that expo marker with a wire coming out of it is my homemade vectrex lightpen, you can see it in action here(marker is different in video but same circuit)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MN1-yKH-Tk8

Videogamefan123

Alien Brigade!? :o Where ever could you have gotten such an awesome game? :D ;)

That's a nice collection you've got though. The homemade light pen is especially awesome. I might take some pics of mine later, I have old ones but they really need to be updated.

Yeah I'm definitely a lurker. I feel like I know all the main celebrities of OT very well because I spend so much time on here reading all their threads and posts, but I rarely actually respond.. :?

Tim_Q

Yeah I feel pretty much the same way. I looked once, only about 300 of my post are from the forums, all the rest are from commenting on blogs and such

All of those systems in the poll have some redeeming factors. The Sega CD had a lot of good games, some real quality RPGs and shmups, and the 2600 wasn't a bad system at all, there were tons of all-time classics for the system. The Jaguar had plenty of good games, although many of the better ones could also be found on other systems. It's also hard to fault the Odyssey, it was a true pioneer of the home video game console.

But as for the game system that I have enjoyed the least, that would be the Game.com

Atari 2600 with 206 games. Next closest is TurboGrafx-16/TG-CD with 184.
