@underoath83 Wasn't really talking about me....I've seen a lot of unhappy people who are upset by his overly cliche portrayal of Max Payne, and I admit I am one of them....but I've never cared for Mark Wahlberg. He's the type of Hollywood actor that you forget. But playing a great gaming character is a big deal. Whether you are playing a Mature and deep character like Max Payne, or a simple character like Mario......getting it wrong would create lots of hate
@wwlettsome Yah....not because of their good will....because they have to.....because physical disks costs money to make, and for consoles, the manufacturer of the disks has to have license from MS or Sony to make the disks, that would increase the price of the game by (using my country's currency, so just hold on) $2-4, with the cost of distribution of the physical disks, that would increase it further by $1-3. Next, shop owners would want a some money from that, especially if they are scared that the game won't sell, that would increase the price more (around $10-15) so that they can keep paying rent for the store and their employees. With digital distribution cancelling out the disk making process, they are forced to lower it down by some market regulating government.
DLC's are priced by the developer, MS and Sony would only get a small percentage of the sales. DLC's would cost the same on all platforms e.g Max Payne 3's DLC would cost US$6 on all platforms, although I don't know how accurate it would be converting ms points to dollars.
@Hvac0120 @DiverseGamer True there are fairly recent games, but most of them are mostly retail disappointments. For the Vita i think there are a lot of games on it and most fairly recent ones but it would make more sense to to have a strong digital market on a mobile platform
@DiverseGamer Its not about whether anybody does, because currently on consoles the only digital products are old games. What he is basically saying is that MS and Sony should push people to Digital stores (forcing somehow isn't the right word)
On the business side, he is right........For Microsoft and Sony they already have the infrastructure for digital purchases and it would be cheaper in the long run to have a digital only game. It is also easier for them to monitor the pricing and the sales (CoD games would sell for more than 120% of the retail price). It would also mean that players would get a new game almost as cheaply as they would buy a pc game at retail. It is also means that there is a higher guarantee in finding games that you want. Downside is that it would be less secure, with lots of hackers knowing how to exploit the digital market (I'm not talking about piracy). And if they follow the digital market for android and iphone, it would mean that there would be a pile of rubbish games that developers create to exploit the unmonitored marketplace where the truly innovative games will just be copied by others. Another reason why I'm against it is because the fella's name is Darling......well at least it's not as bad as Ladyman
