I agree with some people's comments, i agree that u dont really have to have graphics for it to be a good game yeah its amazing to have the best looking game but it always comes down to how fun the game is. look at golden eye on the n64 thats probs the best fps ever made and ppl dont remember it for its graphics. ive played crysis with the new DX 11 and it looks great i still like the first crysis better though.
@SgtStrungOut: I think that's a pretty narrow view of gamers. I've been gaming since my atari 800XL, nothing looked realistic then, and I loved those games at that time, but my tastes have changed. As much as Adventure has nostalgic value for me, I need more from a game now. Yes gameplay is important, but a large part of the immersion factor of a game for me comes from the graphics and sound. They don't necessarily have to be photoreal, but they do have to be visually appealing in some way or I tend to lose interest. To say that people who value visuals must not be true gamers is just kind of closed minded.
Looks AWESOME! Too bad I can't affor a pc that runs this. God willing I'll be an elite pc gamer some day. I hope companies like Crytek will still do awesome jobs like this.
Other than the water effects, I don't think you can actually tell the changes during the heat of battle. But it's nice to see the "true" potential of Crysis 2 graphics.
@allenella If you can't get immersed in a game by gameplay alone then you are NOT a gamer. I doubt you have been a gamer that long. I been gaming before gaming started to get lifelike graphics. It disgusts me that all you new gamers will obsess graphics over gameplay. I swear that if Superman 64 had the best visuals ever you kids would defend it. I doubt you would last in the days of way back.
Now THIS is crysis 2, one that requires insanely high specs & we keep upgrading our rig to run the damn thing in highest specs ,,V I had just finished my rig to be able to play crysis & warhead at maximum specs, now a new challenge. I like that. ;)
@Fayt1986 well thats okay then atleast wen you do decide to play it over again it will have something new to show you or rather ssomething old but in a new way :P
"shirish_yindia" You don't need to explain! It's okay, it's okay... relax i understand. ps3 + xbox360 + nintendo wii + pc + others = Fanboy. Fanboy is cool. Just go outside take a deep breathe, look at the sky, birds and the trees. Meet some people, eat at the restaurant (Papadum, Raita, Kaju Paneer Dansak) and everythings gonna be alright. Okay...
@necronomicon_02 no that was just to support my case that I am not a fanboy of any particular hardware, the max i spend on gaming is 3 hours on a day when i have absolutely nothing to do, I have more of a social life than you ever will. Oh and also take ESL and grammar classes, you really need to.
@beganoo Yes, its 100% free. On a side note I think we have to appreciate that Crytek did this for the PC gamers, because truth be told, they didn't have to do it.
BF3 looks more realistic and Crysis 2 Looks prettier. This update is not to late especialy since cryengine will still be alive 2 years from now as developers and moders will keep using it.
wow I already got through it on 360 so I guess I can get it on PC now because I think I'm one of the very few who thought it was a pretty good game in the first place.
I'm glad Cry Tek came out with DX11, wish it would of came out with the game on release, the consoles stopped the game coming out in DX11 because Consoles hardwear does not support DX11, I wish it did because you would not have this problem in making a DX11 patch!!! All the PC gamers should tell the "Console developers" to make a system that handles DX11!!!
I did notice they kind of cheated with the real time reflections. When I look at water on the ground, it is reflecting buildings that look nothing like the ones around you. Sometimes it will show a blue sky when there is a huge building in front of me. So it seems they didn't really enable reflections, they just put a reflection texture instead.
looks amazing but unfortunately ive already beaten the game months ago and have no desire to go back and do a replay. and the multiplayer had a ton of hacking... still had a good time palying the game. these better visuals would have been nice to have... bummer
@zako94 Orrly it's about story telling and gameplay. You really buy into what you just posted. Like anything you buy this day and age. It's appearance first. Know why ? Causes it's the first thing you see. First impressions matter most. Then the rest comes. Graphics mean a ton in the vidoe game industry it's that reason why we get consoles every 5-6 years. Video Cards every month.
@necronomicon_02 It's actually not that expesive anymore. You can buy a game rig for around $750 and it looks 10x better than any console on the market. Most PC games are Plug Play most don't even use disks anymore. Even today you can play your PC games on your TV. Fact is doesn't matter weather it's a console or PC you still have to buy this or buy that. Console you want surrond sound you got to buy it. You want high rez 1080p TV you have yo buy it, 3D TV you have to buy it. HDMI cables, HDD's and the games cost a little more. You can do a hell of a lot more with a PC than any console thats why they cost more. Also you tend to get a bit more life out of the games you buy with all the user made content "mods".
Looks amazing, but this should've been an option when they released the game. Now most of us PC owners have already played through this boring game and don't intend to revisit it.
For me this just comes to late, I played through the game twice already. Crysis 2 had it's share of problems, but I thought it was still fun and that's really about all I am looking for in a game. I really think it's wierd to release a game with DX 9 and then later add DX 11; I wonder what the REAL reason was.
