never really bene into zombies. They always just seemed to be an excuse for massive amounts of gore, or an easy way to tell an apocalypse story. I probably would have liked TLoU less if the game focused on the Zombie's/infected, instead of the characters.

If I where to approach or be approached by a zombie, my first reaction would be to vomit. Because I'm not desensitized to rotting carcasses. Don't know how I would survive such a scenario.

I'm very much desensitized to zombies now. Like maybe 4-5 years ago they were fun and horrifying, but now they're well played out. It's time for something new.

It is kind of strange actually.. It seems like the world as a whole goes through phases of loving particular things. (like certain songs gangnam style and a bunch of others). And zombies have always been around but it seems like they haven't boomed until just recently.. It oddly seemed like it happened overnight, i was actually just thinking about that the other day.. For what i can remember for me personally it started with call of duty world at war zombies, than zombieland movie (maybe that was first) then left 4 dead, then the walking dead, then killing floor, then warm bodies, than dead island, then walking dead (game), then than DAYZ. Than sniper zombies,Than Infestation, than state of decay...Man its just been a zombie generation!

It's really easy People, Companies don't want to point the finger at any one country or nation and make them the Villain in movies and games. So Aliens and Zombies act as a stand in so players and viewers don't get offended killing Germans or Chinese attacking soldiers. Too many movies and games now a days fall back to the oh look Zombies or Aliens instead of a more contemporary target.

This is Just my opinion mind you.

@mrcharrio I don't think they would go through that much effort of trying NOT to hurt somebodies feelings to the point where they would add zombies over their originally intended subjects.. And the movies that have zombies in them are zombie movies through and though, i've never seen a movie where it seems the director has put zombies in place of a group of people that they have prejudice towards.. Plus there are tens of thousands of violent movies where humans just senselessly pump eachother full of holes, its not like the director of the movie is scared of hurting peoples feelings lol, violent movies are one of the biggest sellers.. Heck they even go out of their way to disturb us as much as possible.. Idk about this replace humans with zombies theory to make people feel better about themselves because i have seen more than enough movies where the director goes out of his way to bring us the most disturbing human vs human brutality imaginable

I'm very glad that this video was a rather profound psychological study on the concept, and not just a shallow critique of the zombie game phenomenon.

I'd say I am at a halfway point. Depends on the game, some games play with the concept in a way that actually makes you feel something (The Walking Dead, The Last of Us), but there are way too many filler games that speed the desensitizing process.

The only zombies that scare the S*** out of me are those in dayZ. No weapons, no allies. Just them moaning around the corner. :O

@TheFallingOne Dayz zombies? They are so stiff and robotic, probably the least scary of them all. Dayz setting itself however is what is scary

Another superbly thought-provoking video from Cam! :)

"...and the ease with which to program their AI ... "

I'm glad he listed that observation. It's probably the number one reason for the prevalence of game zombies.

Yup, I am totally done with Zombies. Over saturation probably killed it for me. I would go so far as to say that any game that has a zombie DLC has just basically jumped the shark. It would be nice to see some more creative ways to creep us out.

Why zombies in video games? Piss easy AI programming for developers, debatably fun and easy AI to mow down for players.
