One other thing Sleeping Dogs did better. When you changed Wei's clothes it didn't change them on you as soon as you left him alone for a minute or went to do a mission.

I pretty much gave up buying clothes in GTA V since it would just change them on me. Characters would never show up in the clothes I put them in or would be wearing something else entirely when I changed back to them. The only thing that stayed was hair, beards, and tattoos.

If a day passes the characters close change when you go back to them from someone else. It is to get the impression that the next day when you wasn't controller one of the other players he changed into other clothes instead of wearing the same clothes for a few days.

@Gamerhomer @lonewolf315 They also change when you start a mission. So what's the point in manually changing their clothes yourself if the game is just going to do it for you?

The campaign and having fun in the open world are two different elements in my book. What would you prefer, get caught for murder and have to sit in jail 25 years until you can carry on playing?

In every open world game you have got away with doing crazy things for little consequence. We know and don't want it to be real life, this is a Rockstar world, it isn't supposed to be a perfect representation of real life but they obv like some rules based on the character when playing the campaign.

@Gamerhomer @lonewolf315 I gave Michael tattoos. He then commented on how ridiculous Trevor was for having tattoos in a later mission. Because that wasn't immersion breaking.

Immersion breaking is causing billions of dollars in damage to the city, getting the military after you, then escaping and being able to walk around the city with no one recognizing you.

I think they can take my hockey mask off and leave me in the shirt and pants I want to wear.

They are quite strict on the missions clothes. They don't want you wearing a hockey etc mask through out the campaign because it would break the immersion

@uprentiss @II_Exile_II If I was a pro athlete and someone came up to me and said "You're pretty great but here are five people that are better than you" I would probably agree because those people probably do certain aspects of the game better than I do. But you know what else? It would motivate me to become even better. Training isn't an event. It's an ongoing process. You have to keep moving forward and getting better or one day it'll be more than five people that are better than you because everyone else didn't stop trying to improve themselves.

The same can be said about the gaming industry. If a developer is unchallenged they might not feel the need to innovate and become better. Complacency is the enemy of innovation.

Who the hell hired this person? Subject matter aside, this has got to be some of the worst writing I've ever heard/read on Gamespot. I'd say the quality of this site is deteriorating if it weren't for the likes of Danny O'Dwyer :D

@astryc I reckon there would be people out there that think Sleeping dogs is better. before GTA 5 I would of def thought that. I didn't think GTA 4 was any good and San Andreas had the worse controls in any AAA game ive played. But now GTA 5 is out, its changed a little for me, it looks good. But before GTA 5, I hadnt enjoyed a GTA since Vice city.

@nyran125tk @astryc Sleeping Dogs definitely did hand to hand better. And I liked the John Woo style slow down time mantles while gun fighting. It also did driving while shooting better than GTA V.

I'm just thinking of all those that just bought GTA V, for an obsolete console only to have to buy it again when re-labeled GTA V "HD"? after released for the next gen consoles next year.

Rockstar are laughing all the way to the bank. Who need DLC when you can get so many willing to buy a game twice? :)

@troll_eat_troll @Scarshi Of course not, bud. Only YOU should buy it again, and many times more. Just so I can laugh at YOU, and only YOU when YOU cave in and buy it again for YOUR shiny new console.

I can play the CAPS LOCK ON game too, idiot.

@Scarshi PS3 and Xbox 360 games are already in HD. All you need is component cables or HDMI and you can set your resolution to HD.

@lonewolf315 @Scarshi HDMI does not make better graphics. Hardware makes better graphics, not just a cable or a menu setting.

HD is more than just screen resolution output. The video card in a 360 or PS3 is a joke compared to whats coming.

If the 360 or PS3 is HD, what would you call the next gen's version then?

If any games have a chance of being anywhere near better than GTA V, it will be Watchdogs and The Division.

I really don't know why GTA games are so great. I mean, I know they're good, but I just don't feel it. ALL GTA games bore the SHIT outta me and I never feel any emotional attachment.

You're not suppose to. It's basically a parody about the real world. It has good story and all but you are not suppose to be 'emotionally' attached to this satirical characters. But for me, the whole execution on how they presented it is pretty good

@raitomizumi Different strokes for different folks as they say. Since GTA 5 came out I see a lot of people on forums saying the same thing so you're definitely not alone. GTA has always been my favorite franchise and I've completed all of them.(Even GTA London) and now that I think about it, I've never felt emotionally attached to any of the characters. I don't think you're meant to. The main characters in these games are criminals and most of us won't relate emotionally with them. However we still want to see their stories play out. And there's so much that go into these games. Rockstar creates a believable little world with so many characters, mini games, amusing activities and side quests that I wonder how one can find GTA boring.

The in-car shooting was much more solid in Sleeping Dogs but only because of the slow down feature which helped you not have to focus on driving so much. Just Cause 2 and Lego City are both dope though.

Sleeping Dogs has a good campaign but was nothing ground breaking. Any uttering Sleeping Dogs in the same league as GTA5 should be sectioned.

@Gamerhomer Word. The only thing about Sleeping Dogs was the hand-to-hand combat focus and the counter system similar to Arkham Asylum. GTA has a dodge and melee component but it's SO much more gun-focused and insanely open. There isn't much to do in Sleeping Dogs other than find collectibles and no matter how you play or who you side with in the story, it doesn't matter.

@TheAmazingYeah @Gamerhomer The hand to hand in GTA V is pretty much the hand to hand system from LA Noire. It's been while since I played but I think all they added pretty much was a kick button. Cole Phelps was trained as a boxer so he wouldn't be prone to kicking. Have to say I never used the kick button except for the first time when it told me about it. Since you pretty much end up using dodge and then punch to counter. Same as LA Noire.

I think we could have seen something awesome come out of Sleeping Dogs. Unfortunately from what I've heard SquareEnix wasn't overly impressed with the sales figures so we may not see a sequel. But then I had also heard that about Tomb Raider and apparently we're getting a Tomb Raider 2 (not to be confused with the original Tomb Raider 2).

Well, I think the open world games that can teach GTA a lot are just around the corner. Ubisoft has a couple in every genre, then there is Destiny which take the whole open world idea into space. Not to mention Star Citizen!

I know this will be hard for many of you to swallow, but some people actually DO have problems with some of the content in GTA V. Giving people a list of games with better (or at least similar) features is useful for those of us that like the technological achievements of the GTA series but struggle with the game's content.

@rednival It ain't much different that all of the others, just with hell of tighter controls, better customizations, and NOT NIKO. Even though that SOUNDS like a lot of compliments, they're all things that other games have done better. I would be down with Franklin the whole time and just little bits of Michael and Trevor. I was expecting revolutionary, all I got was more complicated crap with driving closer to Saint's Row 3, but bad custom car storage, tougher cops, and less character options.
