kb/mouse should be thrown to the dogs and never spoken of again. games were never designed to be played with anything but a controller EXCEPT for fps, adventure and strategy games. there is absolutely no reason to put yourself through the torment of playing an action game like mgs v, tomb raider or batman ak with a fucking kb/mouse. regarding this steam controller... it sounds like it solves none of the "problems" it set out to focus on. why does it even exist then? people will stick by their xbox and playstation controllers without a second thought for action games and use their tried and tested kb/mouse for the other genres that require it.

@Xristophoros: Anything with shooting and free aiming, I prefer on kb/m. If it's melee, I prefer controller. If you're not directly controlling your character, but instead viewing from a distant camera angle, overhead, or isometric view, I'll take the kb/m. If it has a cursor, kb/m...

More and more games are getting controlelr friendly, but the classics like the genres you mention will always be better on kb/m.

Put it this way, if a competitive or pro gamer played shooters and had a choice between kb/m or controller, there's no way they will pick a controller, or they'll get owned by the kb/m players.

@Xristophoros .

youre just trolling dude, say something valueable. But in case youre just too young to know, FPS games like Wolfenstien were invented on the PC. What other games are there? Sports?

@Xristophoros: "games were never designed to be played with anything but a controller EXCEPT for fps, adventure and strategy games"

so basically except for three of the biggest genres......... Also don't forget MOBA'S and MMO's............ wouldn't want to be playing those with a controller.....

@motopramaus: I dont know what to say.... FPS, RPG, MOBA, MMO, TPS, SpaceSim, farmville, etc. all have been adapted to controller scheme. k/bm is superior tho

@bumdude: Well he said they were never "designed" for KBM, so if they were adapted to controller, then it's a lie. It was not designed for controller.

@Xristophoros: I have a PS3 controller but I never use it, except for FIFA. For everything else, including all RPGs, 3rd person shooters, adventure, strategy games... I very much prefer the mouse and keyboard.

@Xristophoros: look like no one read this part ''games were never designed to be played with anything but a controller EXCEPT for fps, adventure and strategy games.'' but like someone said don't speak for the masses.

@Xristophoros: Not sure if trolling or just stupid, but I'll bite. So you're saying we should get rid of kb/m because games aren't designed for them, but then give off at least 3 genres where it's just better and clearly made in mind with? And even at the end say people will use controller for some games and kb/m for others... why can't these coexist? I really don't get if this is just a troll or incredibly moronic comment

@Stebsis: Same here, I don't get that fanboyism over controller vs. kb/mouse. I like both for different types of games.

@Xristophoros: There may be games that are more comfortable to play on controller, but the ones you listed were terrible examples. MGSV has shooting and precision, as does tomb raider, and the arkham games always played fine if not better for me because I could switch so quickly though the items. Driving games or specifically controller games such as Brothers are better examples.

@Xristophoros: lol. Way to speak for the masses. There is nothing that compares to the precision of a keyboard and mouse. If people want to use it, why do you care

@Xristophoros: batman seems perfectly natural with keyboard and mouse. i know because i played all of them on keyboard and mouse. never did i once feel like the game was being made awkward/difficult because of the controls. Same with tomb raiders. in fact, i've played ALL of the tomb raiders with keyboard/mouse (right back to the first) and never noticed anything unusual with keyboard/mouse.

if most players share the same sentiments with regards to the steam controller, i would agree that it's currently useless.

@Xristophoros: AIming is easier in every game with keyboard and mouse. Batman is better with a controller, but any game with guns, you can aim much, much better with keyboard and mouse. Can you imagine freeaiming for the entire game of GTAV with the controller? I do it on PC and it's easy.

Probably the only reason i would play with it would be for better camera control on 3rd person games like Witcher 3.

Also, regular batteries? damn......

I think the real question is, will it replace your Xbox controller. The fact you can customize so much alone should help it to the task.

@mesome713: It tried to bridge the gap between controller and mouse/keyboard but does a poor job at both, and you end up getting the worst of both worlds.

But for a turn based strategy game like Civ, where there's no pressure or mechanics required, it's a great solution that lets you sit back on your couch and play. You wouldn't want to use it for shooters, RTS, or mobas though.

I don't think it does anything better than either of the controllers it is replacing however. If you're looking for a one size fits all solution, you're not going to get it here.

@mesome713: Did you even watch the video? You're just a fanBOY, correct? "The fact you can customize so much alone" The customization was very limiting, guess you missed that part. Derp! "replace your Xbox controller" Not even close, not even trying to. Double Derp! You daft? Just be honest and tell us you didn't watch the video and went straight to the idiotic fanBOY rhetoric. Please grow up. EPIC FAIL POST!

@vegasape: Did you watch the video? This is a PC controller. Can it replace your "Xbox controller" on a PC? Absolutely. Is it the best choice? maybe, probably so. Just to spell it out...this is a controller for PC.

@mesome713: Exactly.

As far as I am concerned (and I'm sure that most PC gamers will agree with me on that), I'm not about to ditch my keyboard & mouse for a controller or "the perfect" controller if there such a thing. Some type of games just play much better with keyboard & mouse (any FPS, strategy games, CRPG, etc.) The same applies for controller -- Fighting games, heavy action games (and most console ports) play better with a controller in my opinion.

@mesome713: It's really bad at controlling video games though. You will never EVER want to play NBA2K16 with it - It's not like switching from Xbox to PS4 it's a whole new language.

@mesome713: Basically, it all depends on if you can use the right touchpad as a mouse. That works well. If it has to emulate a joystick, you're in trouble.
