BioWare details save import options for Dragon Age: Inquisition

New save file system allows users to create customised historical world states from scratch to use in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

BioWare has revealed a method for creating save files to use in its upcoming game, Dragon Age: Inquisition. Posted on the official BioWare Blog, Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah announced the Dragon Age Keep.

No Caption Provided

The Dragon Age Keep allows players to create a customised Dragon Age historical world state, which carries over choices made in Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II.

Players will be able to customise "as much or as little about the world of Thedas" using the Dragon Age Keep. This customised world state will then be possible to import into Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Darrah also stated that importing game saves is an issue that BioWare is "continuing to investigate". In particular, how saves from previous games could be utilised to "populate the initial world state of the Dragon Age Keep". Darrah did not specify whether importing saves directly into Dragon Age: Inquisition will be possible.

Fans interested in the Dragon Age Keep can sign up for the beta on the site. The Dragon Age Keep is scheduled for public launch in 2014.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third major title in BioWare's fantasy role-playing game series, Dragon Age. BioWare has confirmed that players will be able to create characters from multiple races. Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2014.

@DemocraticTroll If you like RPG's, then it is bad because what the hell have you been playing instead of it!? If you don't like RPG's, I doubt story heavy DA:O will change your mind.

@DemocraticTroll Not bad, but Dragon Age: Origins is fantastic. DA2 is good too.

@DemocraticTroll If you've seen or played anything remotely influenced by Tolkien you've basically already played Dragon Age.

Whats the point, If they follow their previous example with DA2 then it wont matter what history you set up because they'll just ignore it whenever it doesn't fit with their pre-ordained plotline.

"What's that Anders died in your awakening savegame well I'm afraid you can just about go F**K yourself because we want him for our clumsy reference to modern day terrorism."

@moonlightwolf01 They will also probably replace a dead character to a very similar one like what they did in ME3. (Well except for Wrex's replacement. Was logical)

Never bought DA2. And as for DAO, I'll have to replay that. I don't think I still have my saves. Other than that, sounds like a good thing. But, just for the record, I'll buy Inquisition after I hear some opinions first.

You know what could be awesome and a huge opportunity? To be able to transfer saves between platforms.

hopefully we can customise the dlc's from da:o and da2 (awakening, witch hunt, golems, lelianas song, mark of the assassin, legacy, the one with sebastian), pretty sure some would affect da:inquisition

@NeonNinja i think you still have to use this feature even if you dont change your system...."Darrah did not specify whether importing saves directly into Dragon Age: Inquisition will be possible"

It sounds like it, but it's more obviously beneficial to the those swapping platforms.

It's a bit of an annoyance on my end since I'd love to just hit "Import Save" and play. But it's better than nothing I guess and it does allow you to customize the world in certain ways without having to replay the first two titles.

To be honest, I'm glad about this feature, because it saves me from having to play through the terrible Dragon Age 2 to get a save file for Inquisition. In saying that, I'm still waiting to see if Inquisition is any good before I commit to a purchase, because the second was such a huge letdown for me.

And after all that, we'll still probably get the same red, blue and green ending in Dragon Age Inquisition......like that "Other Game"

Mass Effect 3 is one of the best games of this gen. I still don't get the hate for the ending. People just like to complain.

@NeonNinja @LegionsAcolyte @berserker66666 i can definitely agree to that i played all on the 360 and have finished each roughly 6 times so i consider the series on of the best made, the third does not deserve the hate it gets

Yeah, the crew stories were a bit of a lost opportunity. That would have been really cool to see. But it was one hell of a ride all the way through.

This feature for DA is kind of telling because with ME3 I played on PC but I played ME1 and ME2 on 360. I loved ME3 more than the other two so I wanted to see my choices carry over, went and bought both, replayed the trilogy on PC just to see everything the way I wanted.

It's just one of the great sci-fi experiences on the market in my opinion and I don't get why people act so butthurt over the ending. It works fine. It could have been better, it could have been more fleshed out but I still see it as one of the defining experiences of this gen and past decade.

@NeonNinja @LegionsAcolyte @berserker66666 i liked the game fine i was a little disappointed in the ending yes but it was the lack of epilogue not the choices i would have liked to know what happened to the crew but like i said it was fine, i dont understand why the game is condemned by people who did not like the ending

Thanks for this, tends to be nice to get info about DA3, looking forward to it. This sounds like a great idea, I was actually hoping for something like this, so this is a nice surprise.

It sounds like you don't *actually* need the saves, but can just make the game world as if you had the saves. That will be really helpful, especially for people switching consoles.

@Ghosthunter54 I kind of see this as the "incarnation" of the Mass Effect Comics for the PS3 when they released ME2 as ME was still an exclusive for the XBOX... basically you provide a starting point to where the game begins... not terribly important points to start with but at least a few points to run with and be mentioned by the characters in the game :) or it could be totaly different.. who knows :D

@Ladiesman17 @Blighboy DA2 is a Good RPG. Yes the repetitive areas are annoying and yes the fact that DA:O has little influence over the game are VERY bad choices. But over all ( spesh with the legacy DLC ) its still a good game IMHO :)
