The Last of Us PS3 Owners Won't Get a Discount on Remastered PS4 Version

@tableofjapan @EasyComeEasyGo yet there were 80+million PS3 owners and only 7million LTOU sold, so even counting former PS3 owners, odds are they have not played this game yet. So you've owned it and played it? Good for you, don't buy the new version. Doesn't mean the millions and millions of people who haven't played it aren't allowed to buy a copy for their PS4

@EasyComeEasyGo Was tempted to get it for the multiplayer tbh and play it on the hardest setting, having played it first on PS3, the new controller and framerate would be much more enjoyable imo.

@squal_lionhart plus, it kind of is discounted. It's only $10 more than the PS3 version (and $10 less than a typical new release), and includes all the DLC. Moreover, future PS3 DLC purchases you make will be cross-buy (free) with PS4, and already purchased MP PS3 DLC is free for your PS4 copy.

@tableofjapan No, I would not be complaining. In this case you aren't buying the same thing again. You are buying a remaster—a more superior version. If I purchase a digital psx game for my ps3 over psn, I don't need to purchase it again to play it on my Vita because both versions are the same digital file that just happen to be playable on each console.

However, the moment Naughty Dog spent money and resources to remaster a ps3 favorite into ps4 quality is the moment that it becomes a different game. It's the same concept behind Devil May Cry HD trilogy, God of War HD, Silent Hill HD, etc.

@tableofjapan @xantufrog Ok, if you had Halo on XBox why would you think MS would give you remastered Halo free on 360. Is that an example you can wrap your mind around? They did that and it was NOT free. You're clearly very upset about this situation which has NO IMPACT on your life. Let it go and stop calling people names.

And, c'mon, counting tax for the remaster but not the original to equate the prices? You call other people dumb, but the tax isn't profit for the "money grubbing" developers, and if tax makes a $50 game $55, it also makes a $60 ~$66. So, yeah, it IS cheaper. And it IS only $10 more than the lower res, DLC-lacking PS3 counterpart (you also pay tax on that, believe it or not). So the PS4 retail version is in fact cheaper (or ~the same price depending on what kinds of DLC promos or something you might find) for a (slightly) better version of the game. So get over yourself and your amazing, flawed, rage-filled logic. Naughty Dog doesn't owe you anything.
