totalgridlock- You never fall short of amusing me with your great posts of your finds and the quick histories of those same said finds. The stuff you aquire is quite remarkable, and the pictures really help out. Thanks for posting such interesting loot.TwarBlackshire

Thanks! I've definately been lucky lately with 'interesting' finds - this summer is shaping up to be a fantastic game hunting season. I love really old retro stuff, the more obscure the better! Saving it from the bin (which is where I'm sure those old TV games were likely destined) is quickly becoming my life's work...

I'm working on a blog at the moment which I'll be sticking up sometime this week. It's inspired by a couple of my latest finds and you might find it interesting (or not).  I may stick it on the union frontpage too.

Great! Looking forward to reading that blog and seeing what else you find this summer. Such a good season for game hunting.

Nice new stuff! I am surprised at the amount of games I have acquired lately as well. This union has inspired me and opened my eyes to what is actually out there, which is either a good thing or a bad thing. haha probably a bit of both.

Grats on your new Atlus title as well. Makes me wonder if I even have one Atlus title to my name... /shame

Just like Totalgridlock, I'm a sucker for Resident Evil, so I bought

Resident Evil 3; GC used/mint $18.99 at gamestop.

For those that don't know, RE2, 3, and Code Veronica got ported to the GC, but are kinda rare and $20 was the cheapest I have seen this one, and for the condition I couldn't pass it up.

Also on a side note, I bought RE2 on the GC about 2 years ago at a flea market in Florida while I was on vacation for $10, which was a steal.

Just the game, not the full box set. But that same store does have the Lunar 2 box set...only missing the figurines. It was priced pretty high, but he said he'd discount it for me b/c of the missing figurines since I'm a "regular", lol...I may pick it up next time I'm out there.

Question about the Lunar I bought: Is there any difference between the games' appearance that is in the box set and the one that was just the regular release? Because I did notice that the discs in my copy have a label on them that says: "Special Edition Fan Art Label by (and then a different name on each disc)." Were these discs in both releases..regular and box set?

As far as I know there was only the box set release.  The release that you have that is game only was probably seperated from the original box that it came in years ago.

Mobygames has shots of the discs as I know them:

http://www.mobygames.com/game/playstation/lunar-silver-star-story-complete/cover-art

Course looking at that link I think I might be wrong about the box set thingy

You are a lucky guy. The Fan Art Edition never had figurines or the other presentation box, just the jewel case, discs and manual, which fits inside the jewel case like a regular PS1 game. The normal edition has a hardback manual that sits in the presentation box alongside the jewel case. I've been looking for a Fan Art Edition to complement my regular one for a while. You've got less goodies, but the rarer version.

I picked up:

Alan Wake LE and guide for 360 in a midnight launch last night and

Hammerin' Hero, PSP, new/sealed, R0, $14.99

Wow, that's pretty cool gmsnpr. Thanks for clearing that up...as well as the good news about my copy! :P I found pics of both the discs in my version. Disc 1 and Disc 2 links are here under New Disc Art.

I also picked up two games this evening:

Zone of the Enders (PS2, Used, Complete) $2.50 - Includes the MGS2 Demo Disc. Both discs and the manual look like new, but game was not in original PS2 case so the case Artwork insert was bent and creased to make it fit.

Battle B-Daman (GBA, Used, Cart only, VG) $3 - I know nothing about this game other than it's another Atlus title for the collection. The reviews don't sound too great.

Oh yeah...I also finally beat Resonance of Fate today! Great game!! Highly recommended!!

Alan Wake LE

I am surprised how nice the LE is, I think its a lot nicer than the God of War 3 LE, and it was $80 instead of $100. Well I just got home from work, gonna go play for an hour.

I've been looking for that game for ages, I've had Wake of the Ravager for as long as I can remember but I never wanted to play it without playing Shattered Lands first. It almost never appears on eBay either... so I guess I struck lucky!

Today I got a couple of games from the clearance at work, first dibs as usual:

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness (DS) - new, £5

Professor Layton and Pandora's Box (DS) - new, £13

Chuck in my discount on top of that and you really can't go wrong.

I also got a couple of games in the mail courtesy of eBay, firstly:

Galaxy 5000 (NES) - complete in very good condition, £6.10

And...

NES Classics: Ice Climber (GBA) - complete in very good condition, £3.08

I did it! I got them all! :D

Red Dead Redemption - regular edition (X360) New $55someNONSENSE

I just wanted to say that I have never really been interested in the whole "western" thing. I didn't play "cowboys and indians" as a kid. I'm a sci-fi and fantasy kinda guy. Also, as far as RockStar goes, I don't own any of the GTA games. The open world aspect seems awesome, but again, I just don't like the whole "mobster" genre thing it has going.

Despite all of that, I am freaking stoked about Red Dead Redemption. It looks fan-f'ing-tastic. I've watched reviews and gameplay videos and I want to play this game almost more than I want to play Demons' Souls. Like I said, I've never liked "westerns", but this game alone is turning my opinion around on that. Not that I'm gonna start watching old episodes of Gunsmoke (although I wouldn't mind playing more Gun.Smoke :P), but I can definately see myself getting hard-core into this game world. I cannot wait to play it.

Yeah, I have no idea how I managed to get it so cheap as another that was on there at the same time ended up at £18... eBay is weird sometimes. Not that I'm complaining as it just reinforces my belief that if you wait, bargains will find you. Now I need to find a copy of Suikoden II that nobody wants :P

I preordered Mario Galaxy 2 on Amazon once I saw that they were giving $20 off your next purchase like they did with Red Dead. Might as well get it now since it will never go down in price.

On the one hand, Red Dead is an exciting and immersive game with tons to do. But on the other hand, I played today and got more frustrated with the gameplay than I have for any game in a long time. Coralling wild horses. The mission seemed to be broken. It took over an hour, you can't save in the middle, the mission had multiple parts, and you never knew when the mission would end, and then failure after failure because I didn't understand what I was supposed to do with the controller. Eventually I figured out that I have to continue holding the left trigger, while holding the right trigger, and then right shoulder and Y. Very clunky. The Journal that is provided was also vague, they didn't mention that you can't let go of the left trigger. So much for fun gameplay.

Another thing that annoyed me was that text would appear at the top of the screen explaining the controls or mission expectations in small font and would disappear before I had a chance to finish reading it.

Also annoying, today I discovered a new area, killed a bunch of animals, collected their pelts, and on my way to cash in, there was a robbery that I happened upon. So I thought I would jump in and try to foil the robbery. I shot one of the robbers and within 2 seconds I was shot dead by the rest of the gang. When gameplay started up again, there was no record of the new area I discovered or any of the animals I killed.

Oh yeah, one more thing: not only did I not get even a 5 point achievement for completing the horse coralling mission, after 4.5 hours of gameplay I still only had one 10 pt achievement.

These kinds of Rockstar choices ruin the fun. You mean I can't go and have some fun trying to foil a robbery and still get rewarded for all the exploration and hunting I did?!? Rockstar: on the one hand you're brilliant but on the other hand you're idiots.

Inkwolf, I think you will be happier with this game if you purchase it for less money.

Thanks for the heads up; those quirks do sound a bit annoying. It's a shame when stuff like that sours a great game. I'll bet some of that stuff may get patched (such as the short-lived and small text mission descriptions). Unless it's given to me as a gift on my birthday, I wasn't planning on picking this one up until it got down to the enevitable $20 price point anyway.

I just wanted to comment that RDR has done something no other game I can even think of has ever done for me; which is to get me excited about playing in a genre I've never had any interest in before.

Other than the things you've already mentioned, are you enjoying the game? I assume the story and characters are top-notch.

Yes, other than those annoyances, I am enjoying the game. The dialog, story and characters are top-notch and the environment, lighting and graphics are extremely well done. It's like playing a part in a well fleshed out Western movie.

That's a great buy. Also, I liked Cursed Mountain, but I'm not very good with delicate Wii motion, so I fizzled out at about the fourth gesture that you learn. You'll see what I mean.

Trauma Team, Wii, new/sealed, R0, $39.99 (though it was ~$6 out of pocket), FX Videogame Exchange

Baldies and Gunship have proven tough to get around here, at any price. Nice buys.

Another round of misbehaving to report.

Alana Wake Limited Collector's Edition (360) - Apparently this version was available only to collectors with limitations.

Way of the Samurai 2 (PS2) - Used - Complete - This is the first copy that I've seen in years. Sure. Why not.

Looksley's Line Up (DSiWare) - A game that could only be played on the DSi. It seemed interesting enough to get.

Dark Void  Zero (DSiWare) - An 8bit version of Dark Void that is said to be superior to it's console big brother.

Rayman (DSiWare) - A port of the original game with a handy map added. It also snaps your picture when you save.

AiRace (DSiWare) - A pretty cool Mario Kart/Diddy Kong Racing type game.

101 MiniGolf (DSiWare) - I've always loved mini golf games for some reason and the DS seems perfect for that sort of thing.

Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon (DSiWare) - I also love pinball and this is said to be the best available on the DSi.
