Holiday Sweep Day 3:

A few more interesting things appeared today:

  1. Gadget Racers, PS2, n. mint, complete, $9.99
  2. Whiplash, PS2, new/sealed, $19.99
  3. Spikeout: Battlestreet, Xbox, n. mint, complete, $19.99 (trade item for Wafle if he wants to upgrade)

gmsnpr

I liked Whiplash, but it was obviously rushed.  About halfway through the quality went to hell.  $20 seems high.  Spikeout, I have to pick that up -- for whatever reason it reminds me of Godhand, another game I have to get.  Oh and Dog's Life -- I have not seen that anywhere.

AWESOME! (I'm guessing presents from family)

Yeah, Lego Star Wars came from my step-brother in our annual $20 gift exchange. StarFox was from my sister...I gave her my copy of Intelligent Qube, so she probably came out a little better in that one.

ya she did. are they GH versions?

Yeah, no biggie though.  They still play the same.

You know, for all the complaining my wife does about my gaming habits, she's a heck of a facilitator...

-After Burner, cart only (NES; YAY!!! Another Tengen cart down)
-Rad Racer, cart only (NES)
-R.C. Pro-Am, cart only (NES)
-Killer Instinct, cart only (SNES)
-WCW/NWO World Tour, cart only (N64)
-Ace Combat 2, complete (PS)
-Kingdom Hearts 2, new/sealed (PS2)

This has me right on the doorstep of 500 games.

My wife gave me no games for Christmas, she figures that I buy enough during the year. She gave me clothes and the Chronicles of Narnia Limited Edition box set thingy with the Special extended version and the bookends. But I really wanted that so I'm fine with no games for Christmas. She also gave me a gift card from Best Buy. Oh and I bought Medal of Honor: Rising Sun for the Xbox yesterday new for $9.99

Right on Wafle!  The 360 now comes with a 12 month warranty, so use and abuse that thing as much as you can in the first year.

Gears of War = much gaming goodness. $550? Nice.  I got a bunch o' cash as well ($600?) but it was giving jointly to me and my wife which means that we'll probably be buying pillow shams or frilly things like that with it.  :(

What!?  Wow.  OK, now it's my turn to say: "Your family pwns mine."  :P

Anyway...

2007 Christmas presents: Round Two.

LocoRoco from my in-laws and Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2 (PS2) from my wife.  Also, something like $80 total in gift certificates to Best Buy, Target, and EB.  Round Three will be what I buy with those gift cards.

Oh, and kudos to your wife, jollyroger.  Especially on the older carts.

Mega Man Anniversary Collection (PS2)

Car Racing LCD game
Football LCD game
Snowboarding LCD Game/pen combo
Racing LCD Game/pen combo

77 in 1 Plug 'n Play (all games unheard of and appear to be 8-16 bit), I can't wait to try this out. The classic-looking games are my thing and there's gotta be something good in this.

Checked out the flyers and Wally World seems to have dropped their bargain bin prices to under $10 for Boxing Day, not to mention they have all the great GC Player's Choice titles for only $18 (Canada, so it's pretty good). Wholesale Club has done the same, so man... this could be a great, great day. They have 360s for $400 with 2 games, but I don't think I want one. I have 13+ systems and probably a few hundred games I haven't played yet. I may as well wait until next Boxing Day and try to snag one.

With any luck, you guys will be hearing from me and my Boxing Day scores later. Wish me luck!

no, it's called hiding the truth and hisy-fits. the DM passed down the "don't allow the former 1352 staff in the stores" and occasionally, I can slip into ones where I'm not known but this one is now off that list...

There are some really impressive recent acquisitions all around, especially for Bretthorror and Wafle.  I got a game for Christmas, b/c I usually ask my wife not to buy games for me, as she doesn't have my nose for deals.  This year, we sort of ran out of ideas and time for Christmas presents, so we gave each other a list of things we wanted.  At first I was against the list idea, but I warmed to it when I finished my Christmas shopping in an evening.  There were only two titles on my list and she went with the first, Sonic the Hedgehog on 360.  My 360 is at home, or I'd have played it already.

No problem. It's a crazy name, and one that would have been fun to see on the shelf, oh well.

LOL!  Yeah, I only recently discovered this when I looked into who the characters were in the "Blocks Club Portable with Bumpy Trot" demo I have for the PSP.  By the way, it's a fun little demo, I've been playing it alot recently.  Its been making me want to import the full game.

[QUOTE="gmsnpr"]Bumpy Trotgmsnpr

OMG! THANK YOU GMSNPR! I could NOT find out what bumpy trot was, because i have had this harmonica for like a year, and i had no idea that it was renamed to steambot chronicles.

No problem. It's a crazy name, and one that would have been fun to see on the shelf, oh well.

Holiday Sweep Day 4:

I found a couple of neat/cheap things today, but so far, this trip isn't yielding the bountiful game harvest that last year did.

  1. Formula One: Beyond the Limit, Sega CD, n. mint, complete w/ foam block, $4
  2. Armored Core, PS1, v. fine, complete, $4 (trading duplicate)
  3. Pro Pinball: Big Race USA, PS1, n. mint, complete, $3
  4. Monopoly, PS1, n. mint, complete, $3
  5. Magix Music Maker, PS2, n. mint, complete, $6.30
  6. Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation Vs. Zeon, PS2, v. fine, complete, $9
  7. Mobile Suit Gundam: Journey to Jaburo, PS2, v. fine, complete, $9
  8. Onimusha Blade Warriors, PS2, n. mint, complete, $9
  9. Q-Ball Billiards Master, PS2, v. fine, complete, $6.30

BAH! that reminds me I need to start the armored core games after Gundam...

More PSP madness at MSRP (I love getting a new console):

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
PoPoLoCrois
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror (had not heard of this, but IGN made it PSP GOTY).

Aspro let me know what you think off Syphon Filter.  I used to love the PS1 games and heard this one was good.

I ran accross Twilight Princess at Bestbuy for the GC and decided to buy it (they had about 8 in stock). I decided I wanted to put off buying a wii for awhile and that I also liked the idea of the game not being mirrored.

Found my way to Toy 'R' Us and got the lovely Steambot Chronicles deal. Also picked up Call of Duty 2: The Big Red One Collector's Ed. New for Xbox and SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals (Used) Mint for $4.99 at EB games.

I've had it or quite some time, a co-worker had beaten it and sold it to me for $20 as opposed to the $18 trade in

Holiday Sweep Day 6

I hit the first "big" vintage store today and it was kind of a bust.  Last year they were swimming in cool stuff, with some 3DO games that I'd never seen in person, a pair of Neo Geo carts, and some Jaguar stuff.  This year, the best stuff they had was a Japanese version of Panzer Dragoon II, a boxed Phantasy Star, and about 10 complete NES games.  Those were impressive, as they had nice copies of Contra, Final Fantasy, and Metroid, but they were priced at eBay levels, so they stayed.  Here's what I did get:

  1. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, NES, n. mint, cart only, $6.95
  2. Dragonseeds, PS1, n. mint, complete, $26.95
  3. Lethal Enforcers I & II, PS1, n. mint, complete, $24.95 (missing from GS database and our Lightgun guide)
  4. Superstar Dance Club, PS1, n. mint, complete, $7.95
  5. T.R.A.G., PS1, n. mint, complete, $14.95

I managed to find some OK deals at the used book/CD/video/etc. store that I visited, though:

  1. Silent Service, NES, fine, complete, $3
  2. John Madden Football '93, GEN, n. mint, complete, $5 (EA fat box to be A-wave shockbox)
  3. Midnight Resistance, GEN, n. mint, complete, $5
  4. Joe & Mac, SNES, n. mint, cart only, $5
  5. Super Mario All-Stars, SNES, n. mint, cart only, $5 (duplicate)
  6. Super Mario Kart, SNES, n. mint, cart only, $5 (duplicate)
  7. Caesar's Palace, PS1, n. mint, complete, $3.50
  8. Mortal Kombat 4, PS1, n. mint, complete, $4
  9. GTA 2, DC, n. mint, complete, $4 (upgrade manual)

They also had some strat guides worth getting, chief among them was Xenogears, well-read but intact for $6, which I snagged.

EDIT: Lethal Enforcers I & II added to both the GS database and the lightgun game guide
