I don't see why we arguing whether or not a character fits into such a negative stereotype.

Either way you look at it, Tidus felt more realistic and had a more vibrant personality than many of the key protagonists of the FF series that preceded him. Others could be described as bland, displaying little emotion and being general nonentities, but not Tidus. For me he brought the game alive, and FFX was all the better for having such a character.

If you feel this fits into a classification of "emo", then so be it. It makes little difference to me, and it doesn't affect how much I enjoyed the game.

Yeah. Without him in FFX, it would be pretty dull(except for Auron).

Maybe because most people think they're just cool. I'm not a big fan of lulu, but I do like Auron. Yuna is alright, but I don't really care for her.

What game did you play? Obviously wasn't FFX. There's another Tidus? The only one I know of is the one from FFX. The annoying pessimist that whines. Ontop of that, he wasn't realistic. FFXII had much more realistic characters

If that's your perception of the character thats fine. I think he was given more development than other characters, and that made him feel more realistic. I also said "Tidus felt more realistic...than many of the key protagonists of the FF series that preceded him", so arguing that FFXII had more realistic characters is irrelevant to my point.

Tidus obviously got on your nerves, but I could empathise with him. I think that his "pessimist" personality worked well with the story of the game.

There were some well developed characters in FFX. Tidus was not one of them. I liked Auron, Khimari, Wakka and Yuna. Seymour was a decent villian

There was a saying here in our country that if an antagonist in a movie or TV series is able to make you feel that you are the one being attacked or you are affected buy what he is doing (based on his role), he is an effective antagonist. I think same thing applies to video game characters, Tidus in this instance... whether he is a protagonist or anantagonist.

Tidus was designed to have such character/personality and/or attitude. It's irrelevant whether he is really an emo or not... It is dependent on the person perceiving. What I find a success in his character designis he was actually able to make an effect on many gamers' experience in playing FFX. As many gamers have said, he is so annoying that he is getting into their nerves. Wow! And yet we all continued to play journey in "his story".

Tidus is not my favorite FF character, but he is, surely, one of the more developed and memorable ones. If he is an emo, sure, why not?! What's important is he was anle to deliver his role well.

He was developed to be such kind of character. Whining why Tidus is a crybaby and therefore he is not a good character is like asking why X-Men's Professor X is bald, or why Kefka laughs like a crazy clown... and therefore they are good.

Tidus is a well-developed character. Knowing his experiences from his childhood, we can trace the possibilities why he is like that. Then, there comes the issue of whether he is really existing or just a spur of imagination. Making him annoying (to some) is a big triumph to the designers of Tidus 'coz they were able to move the emotions of the gamers.

So far the only thing you've said to support your statement that tidus is not well developed is that he's annoying. This is not a fact. It's your opinion.

Please try to understand: Not everyone finds Tidus annoying.

He whined pretty much the entire game, which is why he is emo. Total freaking pesimist. I wanted to be like "JUST ONCE! WOULD YOU SHUT UP AND LOOK ON HTE BRIGHT SIDE! JUST FREAKING ONCE" if I didn't punch him first

^ I second that. No need to be a smart *** insisting yourMEREopinion is the only truth in the world. Learn to respect other's view 'coz you might not know... you might be the only one thinking that way... and the whole world is laughing at you. We're all different. If you think you're superior to most, then live your life. As for me, Tidus a good character. Whether he whines a lot or not, I do not care. I enjoyed every bit of his story... that's what's important in gaming... you enjoy it.

well one thing thats never really believable about ff games is the ages of the chracters, told in the manual. Im actually considering that the american branch of distribution adds that in when they package the us versions.Age is realey expressed or revieled in ff games, so i dont know... even being a fantasy game, saving the world at 17 seems a little far fetched. FF charactes should be in there mid 20s at least

Well dispite jrpgs habbit of young protagonists, Look at tidus... dispite his "behavior" he does not look like a 17 year old nor does yuna look like a teenager either. Tidus was a professional athlete too.... They never match up to their supposed age.

Well, as long as we don't have some really old person as a main protagonist, I'm fine. :|
