So the easiest DMC ever is the fastest selling DMC ever. If Capcom goes in the direction consumers are leading them DMC5 will be even easier than 4. I read at the GAF that the new Alone in the Dark allows people to skip over segments they find frustrating (or boring), a move Capcom might duplicate.
I can't blame Capcom for giving gamers what they want, but as a guy who appreciates getting his butt kicked by a game on ocassion (I don't expect or want every game to offer a DMC level of challenge) the franchise's new direction holds little appeal for me (I know higher difficulties can be unlocked down the line, but it isn't the same).
I think it has to do more with the game being multiformat than with it being easier than previous titles, bar DMC 2. IMO, it's much more ballanced than DMC 3, which ended up getting easier the closer you got to the end. And Dante must Die mode still kicks my butt.
I hope that's the conclusion Capcom reaches.
