@DarkCatalyst- Since you've played the game, what do you think of the Rage system? I suppose it is fair since it is available to both people in the match, but it seems like too much of a crutch to help out the loser in a match.

I just saw on GAF that the PS3 version supports custom soundtracks and in-game screenshots via the XMB. This is great news. Most third party games don't use either feature, and custom soundtracks are essential for fighting games in my opinion.

What means a Tekken? 42 characters?! Geeez! Tell me that doesn't mean there is a ton of unlocking...

I've tried various iterations of Tekken over the years, and none of them have ever appealed to me. I've never thought any of them sucked, per se, they were just... meh. SoulCalibur and Virtua Fighter have been the 3D fighters for me.

That said, it looks like there are a LOT of Tekken players here, and I'm actually pretty keen on the idea of playing with you guys. I think it would be pretty interesting to see how I progress from where I am now (basically a day-one, know-nothing scrub) over the course of, say, a few months. Trouble is, I know I'm not really ready to relinquish my SF4 yet, in spite of its flaws, especially knowing that Super is on the horizon. Gotta stay sharp, you know.

5 frame lag? That is horrible. So basically the mishima's will be unplayable because of their EWGF. And characters that rely on Just Frames like Hwoarang's Skyrocket, Paul's Demo Man, Lee's Mist Trap etc.

I really hope they can fix this.

Basically you do more damage when your health bar gets down to a certain point.

SRK's been reporting the same issues with netcode as well. I'm hoping it's just because the game's not officially out yet. I don't know why these developers don't use proven netcode like whatever Blazblue's using or something like GGPO.

Thank you for the explanation! By reading that, I am getting the impression that online play, for right now, isn't exactly a great idea for Tekken 6. So unless a patch happens, people who are wanting to play Tekken 6 online are pretty much screwed.

I've never been a proponent of any system where you get a bonus for getting your ass kicked. Like DC stated, it may be a non-issue but it won't make it a better experience.

Also, I'm betting the items will be banned in any legitimate tournament play.

I ended up getting through Amazon for $45, so I'll be getting it tomorrow. I can't afford $60 right now, otherwise I'd be hitting a midnight launch or stumbling into WalMart in the wee hours of the morning.rragnaar

I used to work those kinds of hours when I was an undergrad. It seriously destroyed my sleep cycle.

This sucks my local GS isn't doing a midnight launch..

After looking at a preview of the artbook for the CE, it actually looks really good. It's not just a bunch of slapped on CG rendered art and screenshots (I'm looking at you MW2 >__>),but it's actually got a variety of illustrations, sketches and unused CG art. Damn, I want that artbook way more than the wireless stick.... They should sell that separately! :cry:

Oh, and I sold my soul to the devil, gave in and bought a 360 arcade. Guess I'll be right in time for the game after all.

I didn't end up going anyway. I get up at 5:00 a.m. and it just didn't seem worth losing the sleep. I'll nab my copy today around noon.

Speaking of picking up copies, I just got back from the mall with my own copy of Tekken 6.

I'll have some more playtime with it today and will let you all know of some first-hand impressions and I'm curious to know what you guys think of it too! :)

Got my copy a couple of hours ago. Loving it.

After I pick this up today I'm going to do a full HD install on my XB360 and report back on the load times.

Unless of course somebody beats me to the punch. (That's right, I wrote it, pun intended.)

But the lagging is very severe. I've had matches where it gets to be pretty bad, even had connections drops. It's pretty frequent. I took on a friend of mine and it's been smooth sailing for us, but lag would appear every now and then. Not often though.

As far as the game goes, I'm impressed. I realize that I have a lot to learn with any of the characters that I chose to master, Law included. I've fought some Law players that knew exactly what they were doing compared to what I knew of him before. The gameplay is definitely Tekken, some animations recycled, but the models look great and so do the backgrounds. Looking forward to taking on some of you on XB360! :)

Yep, I've just been reading it while eating my lunch and it's good stuff. The thing is huge and the glossary at the front will be helpful for those confused by the fighting game vernacular.

Definitely worth 20 bucks.

i'd like to know this as well, but i'm glad the the impressions are good so far for the guide...i broke down and bought the game today and will be looking for a second main (to king) and i doubt i'll be able to find one by just fiddling around with the characters...a guide will definitely be able to help with that, and i will probably spend some considerable time with T6 so it just makes too much sense to get it...

the online lag is a serious letdown though...hopefully it improves over time...

How are the character models? The video review on IGN looked worse than the screenshots but that could've been because of the low-res video. Is the graphics and visuals pretty good? Are they on par with SoulCalibur 4?ASK_Story

Sweet, alot of Tekken fans :D I got the game and I like to point out that.

T4 jin is way stronger than T3 Jin, you just have to learn his strong technical combos with the bounce combos and you will dominate.

Lars is an interesting new character that Im going to switch between him and Jin.

The half robotic girl is also very strong, these two characters are dominating online.

The game is amazing, the best in the series imo.

Um, I'm probably a dope for saying this, but where exactly is the story mode? I'm not talking about the Scenario Campaign side game where you follow Lars (which strangely is the first thing on the menu O_o) but the individual fighters story. I checked offline mode and it's not there... it better not be part of the Scenario Campaign! :x
