Oh hell yes! Just beat my first Operations the whole way through, the cutscene at the end was awesome. What made it even better was that my team got our asses kicked when we were defending, but somehow managed to keep the ISA from planting the final bomb.
Warzone doesnt feel the same though. The map is too big and spawn points are pretty hard to find. Sure it avoids clusterf***s but they should've given multiple cIasses the ability to unlock spawn points because right now there arent many Tacticians playing. Just like in KZ2.
P.S Walking around with the sentry bot wrecking s*** up is so much fun! I am also unlocking points pretty fast again. So no worries there either. Fully upgraded my Medic cIass which took me a good 6-8 hours. Not bad i guess.

Spawn points are easy to find if one is a tactician (they appear in the tactician's visual field and on his map) and there is always one (sometimes two) close to an objective.
There was no shortage of tacticians in the several rounds I played (there always seemed to be one other besides myself). Its a great class both in terms of the support it offers the team and the abilities it gives the person playing the role. My drone (which hasn't been fully upgraded) is a decent distraction, but IMHO the coolest thing about the the class is their ability to become temporarily aware of all enemies within a 30 yard radius. It makes life for spies and lurkers very short and makes storming rooms slightly less dicey (since one knows exactly where the enemies are located).
I would give the demo a 7.5 from what I've played. It wasn't that great. I ended up going back to Black Ops and MW2. The graphics are nice to look at though, but that's about the only good thing the game got going for it, unfortunately.BigDaddySith
Thank You! I think it's funny that Guerrila is making tons of changes to capture the COD crowd yet they still dont give a f***. Dropping the health 50% just to lure in COD fans has ended in a sad situation where the KZ2 fanbase isnt happy and the COD fanbase couldn't care less.
I also cant connect at all. What kinda demo is this?

Can you connect to the beta? I am stuck on the main screen since late last night. What is this ***?
I a not sure that the spot and mark is such a good idea, of course I haven't played with it yet, but you shouldnt be able to tag everyone behind the walls. It should be a bit more balanced.

Its been shoddy with connecting the whole time
Things that still need a lot of improvement! Bullet sponge gameplay, unloading into a guy then getting killed by his knife instead of him dying, bad servers, more gametypes, needs a hardcore mode like Battlefield, too many spawn killers, lag, and a few other drawbacks. It has the potential to be amazing however. Sound, visuals, characters interaction and movement, and more are all extremely impressive!

I didn't have any problems connecting this morning.
Spot and mark isn't perfectly real time (there a green band that passes over the screen every several seconds, updating the location of nearby enemies) so perhaps to tone it down the update rate could be tweaked or the range pulled in.

Havent seen lag and the gameplay is anything but bullet sponge, people drop like flies. One three short burst usually does the trick.
I just watched this vid of someone playing KZ2 multiplayer and realized I was playing that game completely wrong. I never got into the MP (although I loved the SP), but watching this video showed me why I was getting owned so hard. I'm not sure I like the way it is though so I'm glad they are making fundemental changes, we'll see how it goes.

lol were you aiming down sights like in COD? That's one thing i loved about KZ2, you didnt need to ADS. The controls were awesome.

Pretty much, not upclose but I wasn't aware how far you can hip fire. To be honest I probably won't be interested in KZ3 MP because I prefer more of a simple/pure shooter, this game has too many things like Sentry bots, flying things, boosts, and other perks. Games like CounterStrike, Socom or even Battlefield are more my **** Its funny because those games are pretty bad when it comes to SP where KZ is incredible in SP. Helghan makes for an awesome setting and the more bizarre guns spice up the gameplay.lol were you aiming down sights like in COD? That's one thing i loved about KZ2, you didnt need to ADS. Ah well, if I can get a couple months out of MP, that would be more than worth it since not many MP games hold my attention for that long anyway. Theres always another MP around the corner anyway, not many people stick with one MP for very long I find.

lol couple of months? thats more than what i got out of KZ2, Uncharted 2 and MAG, my favorite shooters this gen. Then again i did spend over 150 hours playing those games so that's quite a lot of time. (Though nothing like the 600+ hours Carnage spent playing Warhawk :P )
In KZ2, mt favorite cIass was Tactician. The gunplay was so solid that i never had to use the Sentry bots which were useless anyway. When it came down to pure shooting, KZ2 was as simple as Socom.

Solid, I didn't put quite as much time into KZ2 as you (100 hours or so) but a few months after KZ2 hit, the sentry bots became extremely deadly for a minute (they were headshotting people). Then they were tweaked again and became less ridiculously powerful but still formidiable. Honestly, I think the endless tweaks did more to kill KZ2's community than the admittedly unbalanced state in which KZ2 launched.
Yeah, I loved Warhawk. Dylan Jobe launched the game almost perfectly balanced and while he spent a lot of time talking with the communityhe didn't implement and roll back changeswilly nilly (it helped that Warhawk shipped incredibly well balanced). I'm still eagerly awaiting Starhawk, though given how many games Sony has already announced (including KZ3, Resistance 3 and SOCOM 4) I'll be shocked if it hits before 2012.

I agree 100%. Part of the reason why i quit playing KZ2 was due to the constant tweaks and changes. The worst was changing respawn invincibility. It SUCKED respawning on your squad leader and getting killed before you could even pull out your weapon.
I believe that the devs should stick by their design decisions and only aim to fix the glitches and bugs in the multiplayer. Too many devs listen to feedback from the official forums not taking into account that they are nothing but a vocal minority who will never be happy. MAG went through something similar, they kept tweaking the damage, recoil and accuracy of almost all of their weapons and one day i just got sick and tired of adjusting to these constant changes. Not sure why they think changing something as major as weapon damage or player health (looking at the worst f*** up of this gen, Uncharted 2 here) is a good idea post launch. Tweaking stuff in the beta is fine, but the devs should stand by their final game product. Much like the COD devs. if people like it, they will play it, if not they wont. I see people over at gaf still moaning about every single aspect of this beta after they had already gone through it in the closed beta a month ago.yet they continue to play the game, so they must find something good in it.
I am not a big fan of nerfing health, recoil and the infiltrator cIass but I know it's something i will have to live with and change my playstyIe accordingly. I wasn't a fan of taking away spawns from Tacticians, but it's probably for the best now since a stupid tactician wont cost your team the game, and it certainly avoids clusterf***s. Taking away server lists is also something i thought would suck, but matchmaking seems to work fine. Inflitrators are impossible to spot now that they have glowing eyes and the blue eyes lights, but giving spot and mark to tacticians and medic droids to medics balances it out a bit since they can easily detect infiltrators.
It's not a perfect game by any means but it's not a disaster gaf is making it out to be, and i hope GG has the balls to stick by their changes this time around and doesn't start tweaking stuff after the game launches.

I wish that were true on my connection. It does seem true for others shooting my character however. I've put 10-20 bullets in guys before they die. NEVER do they die in 3 shots. Hell I'll get headshots after shooting high and working down to their core then being credited with the head shot. Plays pretty poorly for me.

They've been tweaked, but in my experience, inflitrators still are extremely effective. Any I agree with you that Guerilla should refrain altering the basic nature of multiplayer the way they did in KZ2 (I'm not completely opposed to tweaks since every online game tweaks here and there).

Are you sure you are playing on the right servers? If you are in the U.S and playing on European servers than you will definitely notice more lag.
Played the KZ3 single player demo. The characters feel noticably lighter than they did in KZ2 and your character can not only nonchalantly carry around a heavy turrent, he can also sling it over his shoulder (one can carry two full sized weapons and a pistol). The change in the feel of the character isa lot more noticable in the SP than the MP (for me at least).
Below are detailed impressions and general impressions. I tried to spoiler tag the detailed impressions, but while the tag worked in the preview, when I hit submit I was informed that my HTML was not well formed, so I decided to just use a dotted line. If a mod tags the segment, I won't be offended.
----------------------------------------------------------
One starts off strafing a rig, then one lands, picks up a heavy turrent (?!)and shoots a bunch of guys, then once faces off against guys wearing jetpacks, then one hops over to the next rig (jetpacks are incapable of sustained flight) on a jetpack, then one shoots some more guys. One can face them with the jetpack (which is so bulky your character can't duck behind cover, though he can of course hide behind buildings and whatnot but which does have a machine gun with infinite ammo) or one can turn off the jetpack and just fight the enemy as you would normally. If one was really ambitious one could turn the jetpack on and off.
You set a charge and blow the rig, which I thought would be the end of the demo, but you continue on to the next area, where your force is being pinned down by machine gun and mortar turrents. One grabs control of a mortar turrent and then uses it to take out the enemy and the tank that arrives to back them up, then one moves across the field (dodging mortars and whatnot again) to another mortar turrent, takes outa bunch of enemies and another tank then kills some Helghast in a cutscene at which point it becomes clear that Sev plans on putting on their uniforms and infiltrating a Helghast base.
------------------------------------------------------------
The controls (and the recoil) are quite a bit lighter than KZ2's which is disappointing, but since they now have the 'jumpy boy' feel of every other fps, adapting to them takes less time than it takes to read this sentence. Due to the lack of recoil I didn't find myself using pistols or rifles for medium range fire as often as I did in KZ2.
On the upside the Helghast seem to be just as tough and intelligent this time around and Rico is a little more aggressive (towards the Helghast) and he does bring the player back sometimes. I get the sense that he brings the player more often in quick death bits like the mortar field, but it could just be that I died there more often.
The demo doesn't really have the wide variety of enemies and tactics that some reviewers complained about, but setting aside my disappointment with the new controls, I enjoyed what was there, so I'm looking forward to the full game.

will post impressions soon.
Okay, holy crap! What an upgrade! The game looks phenomenal. Probably the best looking game I have ever seen, though i did miss the motion blur. It controls like a dream, and again, i do miss the weighty controls.
The demo was long and more action packed than the first five chapters of KZ2 combined. The cutscenes looked pheonemal, great direction even if they fade out a bit too much. The voice acting and other sound effects arent as good as U2 but it's a pretty huge improvement from KZ2. I really like how the cutscenes help flow the mission. The weapons all were fun to use. I was popping headshots easily on Normal. I cant wait to try this out with Move.
And did i mention this game looks gorgeous? my god. my eyes were bleeding from the goodness.
Sweet. As a new move user, I'll definitely wait til my second playthrough to use it, it should spice things up enough to warrant one. Bummer about motion blur, I also would like a little weightyness since it gives it that authentic style. I'm sure move has something to do with it (balance), you can't please everyone without sacrificing some stuff I guess.Okay, holy crap! What an upgrade! The game looks phenomenal. There is zero weight in the SP. Like Carnage said, MP has more weighty controls than the SP. Disappointing, yes, but probably done for the Move implementation.

I have to agree 100% with this. As a KZ2 fan, the weighty controls and recoil are completely gone. In KZ2, getting headshots and killing every singe helghast felt rewarding. Here it is too easy. That said, higher difficulty levels were downright impossible for me in KZ2 and was the only reason i never platinumed it, I had all but one trophy left... the Elite difficulty one. Now that i dont have to fight the controls, i might even give the higher difficulty levels a try. Crushing on U2 and Titan Difficulty in GoW3 were primary reason the reason why i love those campaigns so much. GoW3 especially shines on the harder difficulties and U2, well it's meant to be played on Crushing.
Very impressed with the Move implementation. Man that was fun. Shooting multiple enemies with pointer controls is very easy and dare I say intuitive. Even the Jetpack segment didnt control bad. I actually felt uneasy going back to analog controls.... It's THAT good.

Saw this on gaf. You can get the Retro map pack for only $1.79 or for free if for some reason you like Slurpees.
You can also create multiple accounts and get unlock points for all your cIasses.
NA users (maybe others, here's hoping):
1. Go to http://www.slurpee.com/
2. Register (takes 2-3 minutes)
3. Use these 3 codes: (universal codes, give you 6 points, so need help to 4 more points, either a generous person give codes away, or buy a X-Large Slurpee, $1.79, nets you 4 points)

Solid! Coming through like a f***ing champ. Thank you.
Did you ever get to play the demo?
I did. I liked the intensity of it, but I wasn't quite blown away like I was with KZ2. Of course this is expected -- even though KZ3's visuals are fine as wine, they don't have the same "OMFGSTFU" factor that Killzone 2 did when it first came out. Another thingI noticed is that the characters are absolutely cookie-cutter bland. Who the hell approved that voice acting of your pal? Terribly average. But these are just nitpicks. I'm not one of those Super Kewl Gamers who comes in a thread where everyone is excited about a game and takes a steaming s***.
I actually really like the more polished feel of KZ3. The combat feels better, the framerate is improved, and I love the new melee kills. I'll definitely get this game when it comes out -- if for nothing else, so I can hear S0lid curse when he gets pwned. 8)

That's not gonna happen. :P i am really good in KZ multiplayer. Was the 17th best player one week in KZ2.
I thought the voice acting was a big improvement from the terrible dialogue and flat out annoying characters in KZ2. It's no Mass Effect or Uncharted, but it's definintely better than KZ2.

Really? Damn! That's OK though, even better reason to be on your team -- you can pick up the slack for my lackluster multiplayer shooter skills.
Is the voice acting improved? Maybe it is. I haven't played KZ2 in years, literally... I'm probably just comparing it to alot of other games I've been playing recently. Not that it matters much. I'm sure it'll make a better impression on me in the final product.
Okay time for some KZ3 beta updated impressions. Why? Well because the beta wont even connect online for me second weekend in a row.
And that right there summarizes everything wrong with Guerrila and their approach of the game. Instead of BUILDING upon the framework they laid out for KZ2, they have stripped away almost everything, good and bad, from KZ2, and seems to have started fresh. For instance, abandoning the KZ2 server lists in favor of matchmaking. Not sure why that was needed, but if you cant even connect to your mother f***ing online game, matchmaking isn't going to put me in a game easily. Why fix something that's not broken?
The low health has started to really bother me now that half of the players in every match are Infiltrators and the other half Snipers. In KZ2, snipers only had a sniper rifle and hence, were only good for support away from all the action. In KZ3, they have access to Assault rifles as well so now we have players who go in a room, put on the invisible shield, and wait for someone to walk in not knowing there is an invisible person in the room with a freaking assualt rifle, and just like that they get an easy kill.
Infiltrators are even worse because unlike KZ2, they dont lose their disguise after shooting their weapon or in some cases, even after getting a kill. What's worse is that one of their perks allows them to not get detected by enemy turrets and sentry bots. What the f**** is this s***? And if that wasn't bad, they have unlimited sprint and they are impossible to detect. In KZ2, you can look to see if they lacked the glowing eyes or the blue lights but in KZ3 they can take the disguise of any cIass in the game, run up to you with a one hit shotgun and boom, just like that you got killed by some dude you thought was in your team. I keep shooting all of my teammates thinking they are the enemy, because if i dont i know the low health will get me killed in a second.
Of course, thanks to the low health, the problems with the lag become even more aggravating, just like in COD games. Yesterday, i kept dying before i could even go down my iron sights. I have only experienced that in COD and it drives me crazy, and for the first time ever playing KZ, it drove me crazy yesterday and I rage quit. Unbelievable.
KZ2 was a well balanced online game focused more on the team based objectives rather than the kill/death ratio. THe cIasses, apart from Assault, were designed around the objectives. In KZ3, the cIasses are designed to maximize the kill potential of each cIass with no regards to how the effectively break the game.
In short, i truly hope this game flops. i hope no COD fan buys this game, and I hope most if not all of the lead designers for the multiplayer get fired after the game comes out. KZ3 is everything that's wrong with this industry, trying to rip off a popular but broken multiplayer game so they can make some extra dollars while completely s***ting on your fanbase that supported you last two years. This is simply a mistake I cant forgive.

Back when I last played a week ago, play wasn't at that high a level, but yeah, some of those perks sound ridiculous. Looks like I'll just be playing the campaign.
Anyway, here are some cool stats about Killzone 3.
____________________________________________________________
- Killzone 3 runs at 1280x720p
- The game now uses 100 per cent of the Cell processor's power
- Killzone 3 has a draw distance three times greater than Killzone 2
- It also generates three times the polygons of its predecessor
- The Killzone 3 Blu-ray holds 43.8GB of data
- Over 70 minutes of cutscenes______________________________________________________________

Damn, those statistics are pretty amazing. I knew Killzone 3 was gonna be graphically superior to Killzone 2, but I didn't think that much. As for Killzone 2, I thought the game was awesome. However, KZ2 felt too short and I felt that it was missing something. Maybe I was a bit too overhyped for the game at the time, but it was still an awesome game.

Judge by what you see when you play not by what you read. It doesn't look THAT much better than KZ2. It runs smoother and has bigger environments thats about all. The lighting and oarticle effects are still pretty similar. I wasn't impressed by the single player demo at all. Im gonna pass on the game now
It was good. Controls are finally something I can play with and the action is fun. It didn't happen to me to turn around and see objects appear out of nowhere like in KZ2 and melee kills are brutally satisfying. What bothers me is the frame rate, I don't know if it's the snow effects or what but it seemed to struggle a little when changing direction. Also, the one weapon limit is still a major turnoff to me, though I understand some people like it...Black_Knight_00
you have three weapons now. Two primary weapons, and a side arm.
