It's not the stockings as pants, its the thong over the stockings as pants that screams classy lady.

Here's the thing:

I have no problem with females in games being sexy, but this character looks completely unpractical for a warrior, which makes her look extremely stupid. And that's more offensive to me than having her dressed in a latex bodysuit or whatever. She has no armor, nothing protecting her from the elements let alone an enemy. She wouldn't last ten minutes dressed like that -- she'd be sunburnt in hours in the desert, frozen in the tundra, and the bugs would eat her alive. 

She looks... incredibly stupid.

We don't need to be "feminazis" to find Quiet's outfit ridiculous. Like others have said, you can have sexiness without looking trashy and silly. Not only that, but her design is in direct contrast to their promise that MGS V is going to be darker in tone, explore serious subjects, and have more depth in storytelling and atmosphere. Its like "Yeah we want you to take us and our story seriously. So here's a picture of a character who is a sniper and is dressed like she should be on the pole, popping her ass." :lol:

Personally it hasn't killed my interest in the game. And I'm also someone who has defended certain sexy character designs in the past. But still, even I have to admit that stuff like this is really silly, and even a bit juvenile. Especially in a serious series like MGS.

If I wanted something "erotic" I'd go watch pornography. It can show me a hell of a lot more than an M rated video game could.

The images presented in this thread are not erotic, they are cheap and sleazy.  The art here takes the game to an absurd level.  I just can't get into a game with images as exploitative as these.  They might fit in with the absurdity of a game like Saints Row, but they will kill a serious story like the one that has carried through the MGS series.  I hate to see the series die in such a shallow, sexist and exploitative manner.

I was just reading another thread on this when it occurred to me:

Isn't Kojima doing it all wrong? I don't know that any artistic work has ever been made with cosplay in MIND... getting people to dress up. Making his game around cosplay seems totally backward. You make the game and THEN a bunch of hopeless dorks decide whether they want to mimic characters within the game. 

In a way, I think that's a bigger issue than the design of Quiet herself.

As opposed to catering to sexist heterosexual males ad nauseam?  The lack of diversity in games is beyond unimaginative and tedious.  Game developers need to catch up with the rest of the civilized world.  I really like the MGS series, but I'm disappointed by this news, if accurate, as I thought Kojima was more enlightened than the typical Japanese male when it comes to such issues, particularly given the subtle undercurrent of homoeroticism in previous MGS games.  It will be interesting to see if all of the characters are more erotic, or just the women.  Gamers are more diverse than game developers.

I, for one.  What is the point of such images?  They add nothing of value to the game and can become such a distraction as to kill any possibility of a good story.  I might find a game with erotic characters and a good story to be rather appealing, assuming that the images are not just the requisite adolescent-male-hot-chick-fantasy indulgences that wreck too many games.  Unfortunately, the images presented in this discussion thus far are not erotic, they're idiotic.

I know there's people concerning about "Quiet" but don't worry. I created her character as an antithesis to the women characters appeared in the past fighting game who are excessively exposed. "Quiet" who doesn't have a word will be teased in the story as well. But once you recognize the secret reason for her exposure, you will feel ashamed of your words & deeds.kojima

While I'll agree Quiet's outfit looks quite tacky and ridiculous, it's something I can easily overlook if the gameplay mechanics and story overshadow the erotic crap. Kojima would have been better leaving this as a controversy for gamers to discover once the game is released.

Look at the women in the Mass Effect universe for example. All slim with tight, latex outfits, boobs and ass popping out all over the place. There are plenty of plus size, voluptuous women in real life who are very sexy and keep themselves looking proper. Yet many were able to overlook the obvious 'sex sells' look to focus on themes of racism and rebellion and enjoy the franchise for what it is.

I'll apply the same theory to MGS V. Kojima has proven he can write a solid story imo despite what others might think, So based on his track record, I'm willing to overlook the erotic anime and give it a chance. Games like Dead Or Alive, Lollipop Chainsaw and Dragon's Crown on the other hand are games I would put in the 'puberty promo' category. I contradict myself however by appreciating a nice digital derriere with a good story attached to it. :D

Even so, Metal Gear has always been better than the sum of its parts, it has (almost) always provided characters you can't help but care about and provided the player with alternative ways to approach obstacles. If only the japanese industry learned that the average MGS gamer is in his late 20s-early 30s... maybe we would have to sidestep less juvenile shit when playing the series.

Actually there is no reason to even mention a game characters sexuality or even that it has one unless its directly related to the story or gameplay. But again when the majority of people are hetrosexual its obvious why the game studios decided to make a character the same, since its easier to relate to a character that is like yourself.

If you or anyone else want to play such a game, either make one yourself or wait for the smaller ones to do so.

Yet 99% of the games on the market contain overt expressions of heterosexuality (and sexism) while virtually none have any reference to homosexuality or bisexuality. That's simply not rational considering the diversity of the human sexual experience. You say that games are meant to be fun, but what you really mean is that games are meant to be fun for you and you don't want your fun spoiled by images that you can't relate to. I don't know.(Sarcasticly) maybe you need to play the game to understand that(you know metal gear is heavy on story and themes). One thing you need to do is not jump to conclusions, that's the biggest problem with people in this country.
