the few magazines that are struggling while the creators of the magazines are resorting to online

I miss the PSM magazine

Official Playstation Magazine needs to make more new demo discs

PC gaming needs some more love and respect from other gamers.

How much does a single issue of PC Gamer magazine cost at the newsstands section in stores anyway?

Pet Peeves:

The words "gamer" and "gaming."

Obnoxious GameStop employees.

People who say their a very big "gamer" and all they play is Halo, Call of Duty, and something made by Bethesda.

People who cannot appreciate games that do not have blood and gore in them, e.g. Mario is for the kiddies!

I have some more, but cannot think of them at the moment.

I don't see why they would make Demo Discs anymore... All the demos are available online(PSN) and almost everyone has internet connection right now... As for PC gaming, you can partially blame PC Gamers for "killing" PC Gaming(well..not really kill , but...less popular than before).Game devs ignore or delays the PC Version of their games because there is just too much piracy on PC. Worst of all, PC gamers are forced to suffer because of them. Ex: More and more games cant be played offline even though it's an offline game... I would really love to play Diablo III on the go with a laptop some times, but I wont be able to....unfortunately... Furthermore, not everyone can spend a lot of money paying a good Gaming PC. 500$ more just for better graphics is really not convincing enough... All this are my opinions of course.

Too many sequels. I must be the only one, but I don't enjoy playing the same game over and over, with slight variations each time. Most of these franchises are past their prime in terms of quality anyway.

Stuffing multiplayer into games where nobody even wants it.

Console wars - egads

Shooters becoming so damn popular.

I don't have anything against those who play them, it's just that their popularity is causing the game developers to only make shooter after shooter after shooter.

Strategy games and RPGs anyone?

One thing that bothers me is when someone plays a game based solely on what score and review it got. I have played many games that have had lower scores here on gamespot and have enjoyed alot of them. Basically people who have their mind made up for them annoy me, thats about it really.

- Overly-cluttered level design - All these big-budget AAA blockbusters have these incredibly detailed levels packed to the brim with junk and meaningless stuff and are barely memorable (for me) compared to a very simply designed and quite dull Nier. - Technical fidelity favored over artistic design - This one is pretty self-explanatory. A game that tries to look like everything else or "realistic" just doesn't stand out. - Gaming still carries a stigma of "just for kids" that limits design due to restricted sales of AO games - Manhunt 2 was "babied down" because it couldn't be on store shelves beside "unrated" movies and "explicit lyrics" music. There is no telling how many developers have cut content (especially sexual content) because they are scared of being slapped with what is essentially a commercial suicide sticker. Not that I think gratuitous content is necessary, nor warranted in most games, the fact there is a stigma that could be potentially limiting game design is disheartening as an adult gamer who gets to buy movies with soft porn and music with lyrics about rape in stores that ban games that show a little nudity or have some normal sex in them.

i guess the biggest is the perception that story can only be conveyed through cutscenes. its the most blunt force way of telling a story in a game and it devalues the gameplay. yes, there are times when a cutscene is simply a quick economical way to get some context, but the notion that games need to be paced with a level of shooting enemies or beating them up and then a cutscene of characters talking is just absurd. the worst part is that these are the types of games that get praised for their storytelling. i wish more people would really embrace the medium, because there are plenty of games out there that are doing more than just shooting dudes or pushing blocks.

How long have you got lol

1) Online Passes - The preserve of the gaming company wanting to screw as much money out of the gamingcommunity as it can, they can claim it is to bring in more revenue to go back into games production, but what it also does is deny those unable to affordthe cost of buying multiple full-price new gamesthe chance to buy second hand games when they will have to pay the addition cost of online passes. I guess they don't have the balls to put the prices of games up so are trying to make us pay in other ways, all equates to a increase in prices but no improvement in service provided.

2) Sequels - I'll admit that if there is a sequel I am one of the many that will but iy just on the basis of having enjoyed previous games in the series and I think maybe this is partially our fault, as we encourage the amount of sequels that are being made but also seems like the game studios are relying more and more on sequels with there being very few new IP's and of those new one's an even smaller amount that have much originality.

3) DLC / Exclusives - Really getting annoyed recently at the amount of games that have substantial DLC, some of which (on certain titles) adds very littlein the way of gameplay or content that is worth the value you have paid for it, also there seems to be a increasing amount of companies that are coming out with seasonal passes for dlc, but these actually only have a limited life span and leave you in the end having to still pay for most dlc. As for exclusives and timed exclusives I just think it helps no one, whether you own a PS3, X-Box, PC, Wii, etc, surely it would make better business sense to make things available to all at once so rather then making some wait weeks or months for content others may get on launch.

4) Reviews - There used to be a time when I could read a review and genuinelly believe that this was the true opinion of the reviewer, maybe that was just me being naive, but seems more and more we are seeingseems to ignore or gloss over things that would be negative to the games review.

-The COD gaming community.

I want to give them a fair shake, they have some decent people (SeaNanners) but on whole they are just really irritating, more so than others really. :x

-People who hate on popular games when they themselves love the game.

To get a sense of how bad these games are for people I usually go to their page on GS and see the score they give. Sometimes I hear people talking smack about a certain game like Oblivion then I go to their ratings and the game is like a...10 or 9.5? I mean...what? Maybe years after playing the game they find out it wasn't as good as before but if so I kinda wish they would change the score. It's hard to remember, I know, its just...I don't know. It just annoys me. :(

-PC Gamers being known now as pirates.

....do I even have to explain?

-The terms of System Wars such as hermits, sheep, cows, and whatnot.

Again...do I even have to explain?

-Considered a troll for liking a certain game.

Luckily I don't think I have yet to be called out for trolling when I legitatmently like a game but I have seen others and it's just ridiculous. I may hate on the COD games and I'm not a fan of the community but if the guys like the games then why call them trolls? Maybe the actually for some reason like the games. Now if they say it's the greatest game of all time then...they really need some help. DESPERATLY. Not to mention, SW is known to hate with a passion some games out there like Oblivion and I'm afraid one day I will say that one of my top five or ten or whatever is going to be Oblivion or something and then I get called out on it. Haven't played it yet so can't be sure but I'm dreading the day it comes...IF it comes. :?

-Consolitis

The disease in which PC games suffer because of a console portation. Games like Crysis I think are some really amazing games, yes the graphics are kick ass but the gameplay itself is none to shabby. Then...consolitis strikes. Crysis 2 came out and...it did not live up to hype for users. It took away too many variables of what made the original such a smash hit and instead made it linear, took away the engaging gameplay for a more streamlined approach, and they even made the multiplayer (which I throughly enjoyed in the demo but it was a little worriesome for them to release a patch for a DEMO) more, erk...CODesque? I don't know...but besides the power the multiplayer really didn't have it's own identity. Course I'm not sure the old Crysis had a memorable multiplayer but what this time around it just felt as if the multiplayer was too...safe, not trying anything new or captialising on the powers. Not to mention there was some multiplayer problems when the game was released as well! Overall, I'm happy for console gamers, but I wish developers would remember PC gamers and not half ass the job. Also, don't go full ass...that's just as bad if not WORSE. :(

I hate that things that are supposed to be on the game disc already are getting sold as DLC

I hate the fact that Single Player is becoming second fiddle to multiplayer or that now every game needs some type of multiplayer

the fact that bethesda releases all of its games riddled with game breaking and sometimes game ending bugs over and over again

the very fact i know more about games then the person working in gamestop, come on man u work in a GAME shop:|

360 becoming casual central, MS has released more kinect games than regular games

i could go on and on but i won't

since i go and game online alot the onlything that truly annoys me are the ignorant people that have this "code" if you dont play by it you are a noob.for example if i use a lancer or anything other than a gnasher on gears im a noob.cod if i use a smg(ak74u) im a noob.and it just goes on.

other than that people take scores seriously like if it's under 9.5 it's labled bad and shouldnt be played.alot of games that are 5.4s are good

There are many, but mostly i hate the constant arguing between different platforms. Why can't people just discuss games and not feel the need to try and bash other people? Why do people care if someelse prefers a different platform? Just enjoy your own one, I'm a PC gamer and i love it, but if someone else prefers xbox or PS3 then fine.

other gamers that always whine and moan about the littlest things or companies they don't like

There the loudest and ruin all the fun, I come to game forums to talk about how much I enjoyed a certain thing or how excited I am for something and then they come in and start going at it.Overjudging everything.

and also the "over coverage" so many games get, by the time the game comes out I already know how the whole game is going to be and theres just no surprises and the sense of something new is just gone.

I completely hid myself from skyward sword until it came out so I wouldnt spoil a single thing or know a single thing about the game....and wow did I ever enjoy it more because of that! The entire game was an adventure where I didn't know what I could do just yet or where I could go trust me people.....not knowing is the best part about getting a new game....sometimes you might buy some crappy but oh well! :D

More things that bother me as a gamer

all this DLC content crap for new games. Really? At least the PC versions of a game you get to download for free.

Its getting ridiculous for games with DLC content such as WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 and the new WWE 12 aka Smackdown 2012.

- The terms 'casual gamer' and 'hardcore gamer'
- Online passes
- Companies releasing broken games that are patched post-release, as opposed to being fixed before release
- Capcom
- Paid-for DLC that's already on the disc, overpriced DLC etc
- Sequel overload (don't get me wrong, I enjoy many games and their sequels but I also enjoy new IPs just as much)
-

I could go on.

- Online passes and One time use codes

- Games like Rage and Batman AC that force all offline gamers to miss out on content even if they buy the game new, they pay 100% of the asking price and only receive 90% of Batman AC what a rip off

- Elitest nerds who ruin end game content in WoW and other MMORPG's

- Digital/Cloud gaming, no thanks - give me a game I can actually physically touch then I truley own it and if I choose to can sell it or lend it to others

- DLC in digital form and released not longer after the actual game is released, the only time I'll pick up DLC is if it's in physical form, GOTY edition usually

- The lack of offline bots mode for FPS games, only a handful of games have this like Killzone 2 and Black Ops so why don't others? For offline gamers this can be the deciding factor in making that purchase, not to mention it's a great way to practice or if you lose the net you can still play MP in some this form or if you just get sick of those whiney little brats talking non-stop dribble in MP you have another option.

Will PS3 exclusives like RDR, Uncharted and Yakuza ever come on PC?

When will gaming catch it's fame and popularity in India so that we can take it to next level.

PC gamers elitism is nauseating

Brand loyalty

Sequels upon sequels. We get a new sequel almost every year.

Unskipable cutscenes. I am sorry but most game's stories are mediocre so don"t force me to watch the crap.

Too much story and not enough gaming. If I wanted to watch a movie I would but I play games to interact not to be passively entertained.

Certain companies are treated as gaming gods even though their games and system are behind the times or not as great as they used to be.

Motion controls. Its gimmicky and takes away control more than give it.

The lack of innovation. There is so much to do in software, yet folks are still focus on hardware.

Online gaming treated as the only form of multiplayer.

Annoying Fanboys who always think they are right

Nostalgia gamers

Charged DLC

People thinks its cool to bash CoD,Halo,MGS and other popular series, if you don't like them cool no one wants to hear you complain about a game you never played.

I disagree about PC gamer elitism. I am a small time PC gamer and I am not an elitist in away. I just think that there are some games that are played better for the PC and I'm sure other people feel that way. Plus you get free DLC while you have to pay for the DLC if you have a Playstation 3 or Xbox

The overuse of cutscenes and set pieces taking control out of the gamers' hands. These things are threatening what makes video games video games. It makes me cringe when a reviewer admits gameplay is bad but still says it's a fantastic game. That's just entirely illogical to me

Bots. MORE. BOTS. PLEASE.

They're extremely nice to have if you're not a super competitive person either (at least in terms of video games). I also like going against all the bots on the easiest setting sometimes so I can have a relaxing, mind-numbing fragfest. :D

[QUOTE="187umKILLAH"]The lack of offline bots mode for FPS games, only a handful of games have this like Killzone 2 and Black Ops so why don't others? For offline gamers this can be the deciding factor in making that purchase, not to mention it's a great way to practice or if you lose the net you can still play MP in some this form or if you just get sick of those whiney little brats talking non-stop dribble in MP you have another option.

Bots. MORE. BOTS. PLEASE.

They're extremely nice to have if you're not a super competitive person either (at least in terms of video games). I also like going against all the bots on the easiest setting sometimes so I can have a relaxing, mind-numbing fragfest. :D

When I first saw offline bots in Unreal Championship on the original Xbox I thought this will soon be the norm in FPS games but it never really took off, to this day I can't understand why. So many gamers are not online for various reasons and 69.8% of the world are not on the net, that's a huge chunk of gamers who would at least get something in place of the online MP but instead they have no reason to buy most FPS games nowdays due to lack of offline bots and most FPS focusing on MP with a short campaign.

Video games, video game reviews, video game "reviewers", video game fanboys, video game developers, video game publishers, and people who play video games.

My pet peeve is when developers think that all players are stupid, and make the game too simple.

Agreed, to all this. I think having more bots that can play at one tome would be nice, too. I don't want to play 6. I want 30!

As a "casual" laid back gamer LOL, I hate these things ever more

Hideo has changed. He's just screwing with Metal Gear Solid fans

DLC content really needs to stop with console games like the Modern Warfare crap and even the DLC wrestlers for Smackdown vs Raw 2011 and WWE 12. Just include the DLC as normal unlockables in the games.

Glitches - lots of them are just popping up in new games like crazy.

Capcom is losing it. They wont release Monster Hunter Portable 3 for the PSP here in the U.S. but they'll keep on makinganother Marvel Vs Capcom game one after another

Companies that can't keep your customer data safe, like Sony.

Fan boys that either say a game is terrible, or even downrate it on Gamespot when they have never played the game before (or, on the other side, fan boys voting 10 for their own game without playing it yet. IMDB has this problem - the majority of ratings for movies are sometimes just 1s and 10s).

Lag and losing your connection

XBox 360 vs. PS3 fanboy wars, especially when they try to claim a multiplatform game is better for one console than the other when there's no evidence of this.

People that whine about squeals while not even caring that the best innovation are coming from squeals

Those that points out everything wrong with a JRPG while over looking anything wrong with WRPG. Worse if they will attack anyone that try to point out what is wrong with WRPG.

"Multiple pick dialog and moral pick are need for a RPG." This ideal has hurt WRPG games.

Saying FPS games are mindless.

  • The state in which games are released. Bethesda being one of the worst. New Vegas (and Fallout 3 I think) had the same PS3 save bug Skyrim has. The latter has a texture bug on the 360. It boggles the mind - could be laziness, ineptitude, or they went unnoticed during development due to the size of the games. Which is hard to believe. Network/server issues on new games.
  • Quitters. In particular those who quit 2 minutes in or create a domino effect where everyone else quits making it more and more of an unbalanced mess. Why do they play in the first place? Very very strange behaviour. Uncouth, in fact.
  • Silly restrictions. I'm thinking of Gears of War 1 & 2 where you can't run or even walk at a normal speed because Marcus is talking to someone...
  • The likes of Advance Wars, Syphon Filter, Freedom Fighters, many more are dead and buried and the yearly CoD, FIFA, Madden, Need For Speeds getting more popular with each largely unchanged iteration.

biggest pet peeve...Video games are too mainstream all of a sudden. and all those new age gamers dont play video games for any reason but so shoot stuff. i cant complain, since i play these games. but for all the hate toward nintendo because they are kiddie. i know more adults that play mario then play COD. but my 10 year old son play COD and loves shooting people, having a 2-25 record. But he cant beat SMG and thinks it is too frustrating. why, because his friends play COD, and not mario. its just sad. but as long as devs keep making true video games(from mario to dark souls) then 25 million other people can buy COD MW4 next year, day 1 mind u.
