Am I the only N fan that dislikes anime??? I would absolutely love trauma center if they gave it a more realistic style. I would like a surgery sim. I feel that it would also fit the more adult casual market very well. For instance, I could see my Mom/dad getting into a medical game, if it wasn't for that strange (imo) art design and rediculous soap opera dialogue. Not tryin to dis on fans of the series. It's just not my style. I do actually like the gameplay quite a bit.

Who else feels the same way?

im down for a surgery sim. and... trauma center is considered anime?!?!

I don't understand why its being argued on a Wii Forum when the Wii's top games anything except realistic.. And most have a cartoonish quality bordering these type of art styles.. Whats unusual too is from what little I have seen of anime, is their art design is vastly diverse.. There are plenty of very realistic looking artworks out there to the more exgerrated drawings.. Some of the best series of all time such as Final Fantasy has had a artstyle similar, yet its one of the top rated series out there.. IMO you would have to be childish and stupid (oh noes the graffics) to not play the game all because the art style is different.

By this logic alone you are infact cutting your self from Mario Galaxy, SSBB, and Metroid.. All top contenders that every one is waiting for the Wii which have art styles connected to "anime".

sSubZerOo

totally agree, BTW anime is part of Japan's modern culture and Nintendo is a Japanese company, So expect more anime-style games.

and BTW for all those people who said that anime is childish. I'd like to ask them, have you watched "Death Note" "Berserker"or "Samurai X trust and betrayal" because these are definitely not for children and they won't understand the story anyway.

One more thing is that RPG games based on anime are the best like "Chrono trigger" "Super mario RPG (Snes)" and"Fire Emblem" and if you people happennot to like these games, I think you won't dislike "StreetFighter" which is anime based.

i used to like anime and think it was all cool and stuff but now im starting to dislike it. Im thinking it's the art style. and the horrible voices ( i dont like either dubbed or real). It's mostly the style and sometimes the story line. especially long wait times that are pointless. i dont mind watching it if it's something im interested in, but otherwise, i find it much funner to attack. And nowadays i cant enjoy it. I dont have any real reason to have started disliking it. i just did. probably cause im chinese. :P Just kidding. im sure there's more chinese people watching anime than japanese people just cause there are so much more chinese people. but then again, they probably dont even let japanese made products get into china :P

o ya, i dont mind anime in video games cause most of the time, the anime games arent really even anime. they are mostly cell shaded or weird 3-d anime. Is that what you call final fantasy? i dont play final fantasy though i like tales of symphonia. Their art style gives off a kind of anime but not completely kind of feel. in fact, the OVA for symphonia is the only anime i plan on watching. ever. or just until my phase of anti anime ends. if it ever does.

Well I think anime is pretty cool. But it is not cool when people start dressing up like anime dudes and start acting like anime is real life. They give anime a bad name. You guys should really see the kids in my school that take anime to the next level. They do facial expressions and act like there anime characters which is very gay and nerdy.

Watching and playing are two complete different things.

Not like you play a game for its anime. But you do watch anime because you know it's anime.

The life lessons of anime are good and some are good but like someone said once you start a new series it kills a little inside. Some of it is for adults others are kiddie, i like them both. Peopple who drees freak me out. I was once in a club and i hauled *** there. You should keep a limit just like gaming, its not life.

ONE PIECE IS THE BEST and Fe ia a good series

Long rant, srry

I'm not bashing on Anime, but I do have a beef. Dragon Ball for instance, I just don't understand how they (the characters) can be so tough, and then be so whiny. It's not the art that gets me with Anime, it's the storyline, and the over emotional whiny antics that the characters employ. And some of the over exaggerated shock moments .......so totally stupid! No offense, to anyone that is a fan.....it is just an opinion! I get to a certain point when watching it, and then I'm like....what the hell am I watching this crap for? The characters get ridiculously, sickly stupid with their emotions, and get totally sissy after being totally awesome tough!:| WTF!

About 80% of anime is crap. Stuff like inuyasha, bleach, and naruto aren't exactly top notch anime. Anime you could enjoy though, are things like berserk, hellsing, and guyver. *original 12 episode series or ova, the 26 episode series, isn't so great*. Ever since the late 80s, anime has completely changed its tone. From going to a more serious tone like mobile suit gundam, to a more comedic and generic tone like sailor moon and tenchi muyo.

The problem is, when a game takes a anime approach, it doesn't turn out well normally. A good example, the castlevania ds games. In dawn of sorrow, you got traditional anime elements like a half-naked succubus. While a succubus is actually supposed to be naked, the traditional anime tone is to tease you when you see a girl like that. Gives things a immature tone, which is way too generic in anime these days. Though something like, berserk: chapter of the record of the holy demo war on the ps2, if theres nudity, it just shows it and makes everything seem natural.

Plus, anime today has basically 1 tone to it. Thats because all anime today is done on the computer, instead of hand drawn anymore. Exactly why todays animations in anime, look much more advanced, but its because its cheap and easy to make. Also the reason why theres a crap ton more animes today, than say there were back in the early 90s. Also, about all of todays anime for some reason have to have big band soundtracks. Problem is, its already become generic in anime its annoying. Compare the original hellsing to the hellsing ultimate series. In the original, theres all kinds of different styles of music. In the new stuff, it sounds like a big band playing random stuff. Though, this has to do more with anime in games than anime itself, so i won't go too much more into things.

In short, I like anime but I hate too much of it. Anime in games hasn't exactly thrilled me yet, but its been done right a few times before though not many.

Proving my previous post, its a generic thing in anime now. Back in the early nintys, you had anime that mostly took a serious approach, and then you had stuff like dragon ball z and sailor moon which are a bit light-hearted. That light-hearted stuff now floods and took over the anime industry for some reason.

First I know this your opinion and I"m not trying to bash you or anything, but in my case I like this new soa called "light-hearted stuff" you speak of. Is it really bad that anim have comedy in it other than just killing stuff and fighting or serious conversation? No matter how serious a anime is without comdey or something to change pace it likely it will go down. Pppl can't survive on seeing 25 episode of pure fighting they need other stuff to keep ppl interested. To take and the current example, why you think Goku acts all silly and stuff like being scared of needles. It fun to watch or at least to laugh at. Also, the main case is that *** taste=/= american taste in shows. What they might find awsome you may find boring or stupid. What you call fun they might think of it as boring or stupid. ppl from different countries don't have the same taste as others and since anime is japanese they have to appeal to the japanese ppl, not the americans.

I'm not saying anime has to be completely fighting, since that will probably be boring as well. What I'm saying is that I'm sick of animes being mostly light hearted. Lets take dragonball z for an example. Theres a part in the freeza saga, where freeza throws a energy blast at goku. After goku pushes it away elsewhere, he blows on his hands and acts like their hot in a comical way. That ruins a serious mood. Now the good part is, dragonball z and gt controls how comical it gets pretty good. I probably shouldn't have said dragonball z was light-hearted, but the original dragonball instead. Then again, when dragonball came out back in japan there weren't the flood of comical shows out there so it didn't bother me as much. Though a show like sailor moon, you'll get a few serious episodes, but its mostly the same thing over and over. Characters stay comical all the time, a plot comes up, and everybody just gets serious all of a sudden.

To be honest, my tastes in things are probably closer to japanese related. If I knew the language alittle better, i wouldn't mind being in japan myself. There are a few comical japanese shows that I do enjoy, like elfen lied since it evens the seriousness and light-heartedness pretty well. Though, it'd be nice if most shows were more like say gantz, where its mostly serious, but theres some comical gags that come along.

I just got one thing to say is that the Goku going "Ah! hot hot hot" which is called comical relief. Also, not "ALL" anime is to be serious as you should probably know. Some shows are made on the bases of being funny. Take for example Azumanga Daioh and Excel Saga. I dare you to find any seriousness in either of those shows. Also, you have to admit *** ppl seem to like comical related stuff. Also, most comedy tends to come out in random places and not always leading towards it explaining the DBZ things again and other funny stuff happening during serious stuff. Now adays seeing an entire series of episode without comical reliefe sticking in somewhere is pretty rare I'd say.

Yeah, the japanese love comical stuff. Just look at some of their comericals for instance. Almost all of them have comical stuff in them, even if some of its unintentional. Exactly why most americans can't get into anime, since it now it is mostly comical stuff. In the earlier days when anime started getting popular *like early 80s-mid 90s*, you always had a good helping of serious stuff too. Exactly why the original mobile suit gundam failed in japan, was because of its wayyy serious plot tones. Though stuff like that appeals to me, which explains the cultural differences. What I do hate though, are most of the forum posters who just simply saying "animes gay They probably simply saw the stuff thats on tv, cartoon network I bet. Most of the stuff on there, isn't exactly the best stuff to appeal to westerners.

Very much correct I would say. Anime seems to been stereotyped as most other shows specifing certain genre. ppl don't seem to lie to think outside th box or even try to look ouside of it. Just because they might hvae seen one crappy filler episode or one of them strange epis in some anime they go like "WTF is this?!" They tend to stick to first impressions and those who gave it a try and didn't like it well you can't say much about them. Personally I'd like anime art in games, anime games...no thanks to 95% of what anime show based games come out. Also, alot of ppl just say they hate anime in general give not a single detail why. It like saying sit-coms suck simply because they didn't like 1 or 2 shows (which probably the only ones they've seen). Plus, the only thing that makes anime anime is the way they are drawn as far as we know any anime can be made to a realistic cartoon or make it look like any other art form. Now if they say they dislike anime art then that's another story.

Now simply to add some stuff to the original topic of this, Trauma Center with realistic graphics=big no. Ppl do not want to see real looking organs and blood. trust me on this, I've seen a work accident vid and seeing a man's organ coming out of his stomach or seeing inside of him is not a pretty sight.

I agree with you anime is crap IMOfraz1776

Obviously, you've never seen Full Metal Alchemist or The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, but instead Pokemon and Digimon.

I Pity You, Dude...

i think that hating any genre of media as a whole is pretty ignorant... unless its like for a moral reason, like i hate new whiney rock music but thats just because i cant connect with someone who makes a living, (and a good living at that) by making music, and whining about life and hard it is on them... hating something just for the sake of hating it is just ignorance... but then again... i hate country music so dont listen to me...;)

like i was just saying... hating something just for the sake of it is ignorant. i think that the only real solution to that is to educate yourself, i honestly think that if you saw more quality anime you would like it alot more... im not a huge anime fan, but anything by miyazaki is pretty brilliant... and i would also suggest checking out full metal panic? fumoffu (i think thats what its called) its a comedy anime based on a serious one... pretty hilarious...

[QUOTE="Smogtoe"]I'm not bashing on Anime, but I do have a beef. The characters get ridiculously, sickly stupid with their emotions, and get totally sissy after being totally awesome tough!:| WTF!Duckman5

when is Goku whiney?

Its not necessarily him specifically, mostly other characters. Only been able to subject myself to so many episodes, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing an episode that involved Goku as well. I'll have to call up my friend in Dallas and see if he still has all his Dragon Ball flicks. Then I'll be able to say for sure which episode. Of course, you also have to know that a fan of Anime is not going to see my vision of "whiney". And for the record, there probably is a better word for it, I just haven't narrowed it down completely. So we'll just say to be continued......

See .....that proves my point.....other people actually agree with me, and some don't! So it's like a tug-o-war!

All top contenders that every one is waiting for the Wii which have art styles connected to "anime".

foooox

totally agree, BTW anime is part of Japan's modern culture and Nintendo is a Japanese company, So expect more anime-style games.

and BTW for all those people who said that anime is childish.

Uhh.....No....I can't say I agree with the "Mario, Metroid ......and SSB is Anime. There is another term for what they are, the Anime that I think of ....when someone says Anime....is Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon.....Pokemon, Digimon,.....Yu gi oh! ....you follow? A know I'm not narrow minded, I'm not an Anime guy! But I still can't classify those games as Anime! There is a distinct difference between Mario, Metroid, SSB, etc....and Dragon Ball Z, and Pokemon, etc! Yes, I know they are Japanese, but they are in a different genre. Now, games that you can compare and classify as Anime are the Turn based RPG's, and such.........and Mario RPG dosen't count,....is still not Anime. At least not in my book. If you know a better way to explain......lay it on me. And give proof if Mario and Metroid are Anime.......cause honestly I don't see the resemblence?!

does the extremely long wait times in some of the animes bother you guys. i dont wanna sit around wasting my time listening to people scream. I just stopped liking it for some reason. Unknown to me of course. I just started picking out all the annoying aspects and i cant find many good ones. I think it's my selective watching. once i start to dislike something, my liking for it collapses.

Funny you should mention that one! My wife just told me the same thing....go figure! For the record, I will totally admit that I am wrong about Anime, if it turns out that there is some Anime that I have seen and not known it was Anime. I think, I can probably speak for a great many out there......when you hear the word Anime. I immediately think of Dragon ball Z, Pokemon, digimon, etc., which in a way is closed minded, but they gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Just like so many gamers were against Nintendo because of the gamecube!

Let me just say something for a minute...

So, the only anime you can name is DBZ, Digimon, Sailor Moon and Yu-gio-oh! ? Now, I'm not exactly an expert either, but I've seen alot of other anime, and let me tell ya, it's much more broad than those titles alone. Hell, I could name a couple of types of anime right now: Shoujo, Shounen,Mecha, Seinen and (of course) Hentai. There are alot more, but I'm just naming afew types from my memory. Plus, it can also be separated by genresusually associated with novels and otherTV shows, such as Fantasy, Romantic Comedy and Historical Fiction.

Honestly, watch Full Metal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop. They're the best of the bunch, in my opinion. Then you'll probably know how wrong you are.

(PS: Yeah, there's also Azumanga Daioh, but it's... strange...)
