BTW, I thought that gannon was Green? So it wouldn't be racist to black people, but Martians!

Ganondorf is as black as the ace of spades.
Let me guess...You were one of those people who petitioned for the ban of RE5 right? C'mon give it a rest. I could say sony is racist, because all of their consoles are black....see where I'm going with this? TechGuru89He was probably one of the ones making fun of them.
[QUOTE="zenszulu"]i actually found it quite funny, that so many people have the time to read through 13 pages before they answer to a topic. if u have so much spare time im happy for u, i dont. i read the first two pages and then i decided that i read enough to answer. Well why read only part of something since you may not get the full story, and it didn't really take me that long to read through most of it to relise it was a joke, I could understand at first why some people may have taken it as serious but to continue after it was pointed out to be a joke, does show people jump the gun rather than finish reading things.I actually found it quite funny, more so some peoples raections that continue to consider it as serious and dont read anything but the first post before replying, it's true when they say people shoot first ask questions later even when the answer is right in front of them. It is interesting how people chose to have to defend something that could of simply been an opinion no matter how completely insane it may have been like this one. Although based on expierience if some one were to think a simillar way to this there would be no way of changing their mind since they would want you wasting your time trying to begin with, I actually quite like people proving a point though with something as amusing as this though.

I'm not going to read all 13 pages of this nonsense so forgive me if this is redundant but come on.
Why don't we just make every game black and white like madworld so no colors could POSSIBLY offend you.
The way you describe it its like the only way a game can't be racist is if the good guys consist of a white guy with brown hair and eyes,a black dude, an asian not in any outfit that might be deemed "silly", a chick, and lets just toss in a guy in a wheelchair so we don't offend parapalegics.
Its just a character. Its not meant to be racist.
The only even remotely plausible point it Mario and Italians. Yeah hes a stereotypical Italian.
No one cares

Dear Nintendo,
I have been a fan of your products for a few years, my first system of yours being a gamecube, and i have followed you loyaly ever since. Lately, however, I cant help but notice some racism going on within your business, whether it be within your games or during a conference. I hope that you will consider my opinion next time you are doing something that could be construed as some sort of racism. Lets start with racism inside games.
Several games that i have noticed with racial/sexist messages/innuendos, are The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Yes, even Super Mario Brothers. Let me elaborate:
In The Legend of Zelda, you play as a blond-haired, blue eyed, or arian, hero, who has to overcome impossible obstacles, despite his young age, and ultimately defeat the black-skinned, red-haired pig man. I don't believe that much explanation is needed here to say why this would be construed as offensive. Red hair is the clear mark of an irishmen, with the features and complexion of a black man, one of the ONLY black men in any of your series, and he plays the ultimate evil. The message that i recieve from this is, is that Black people are evil, ad irish people are evil, but combined they create an incredible evil. i would appreciate it if changes were made to this character to avoid offense anymore.
Second up, is the Metroid series. Now some of you may think, "Why would anything in Metroid be considered offensive? Samus is a girl!" but this is what i have to say to that: Who knew? the only female hero you have only has power because of a very MASCULINE suit of futuristic armor. The game was clearly suited towards men, and alot of men had to be specifically informed that the hero of metroid was a girl. I would reccomend not hiding Samus ( which is a pretty manish name) behind her armor all of the time, to not offend the women.
Lastly (in games), but not-in-any case least, is your infamous Mario, who has single handedly been pumping racism and sex into childrens minds since you have started your little business. Lets start with the basics of the game. Your ultimate goal in every game is to get Peach, a blonde-haired, blue eyed (arian) beauty, whos name coincidentally happens to be a slang term for a private part of female anatomy, subconciously telling every little boy who plays this game that his ultimate goal, much like Mario's, is to get Peach. Mario, for second, is a very steriotypical Italian plumber. He is quite often pointed out in his games for his mustache, as Italians are stereotypically hairy beings, you could see how this could be offensive. Yoshi is a mockery of dinosaurs everywhere. No dinosaur would allow itself to be ridiculed by being ridden by a man, being punched in the back of the head to the point where its tongue would fly out of its mouth, without retaliation. Wario is clearly portraited as your sterotypical American, being lazy and cheap and crude, and i would like to inform you that as a caucasion U.S. male, I find this quite offensive, and would greatly appreciate it if you would change the characters characteristics in these games.
During your GDC event, you showed a picture of an asian man, dressed up in a ten-gallon hat and other cowboy apparel, looking ridiculous. I would like for you to personally apologize for this image, as it is making a mockery of a race of true pioneers that worked their keesters off to provide the U.S. with a better tomorrow. Without them and thier trailbblazing ways, we might not have had such a liveable america, and i for one, am gratedul that the cowboys existed, and i am quite appaled at the lack of respect you showed towards them.
I truly hope you consider my points, altough i have no power to take any actions, i would hope you just care enough for the consumer to peruse his words. thank you.
I don't know if this was said already. I don't have time to read all the posts here but If you were so observant on all these "Racial and Sexist" Ideas Nintendo has placed in there games. Wouldn't that make you racist or sexist. I mean, in all do respect, you noticed these things and unless they were thoughts of yours you would have never noticed. BTW. Link has blade hair because its an angelic symbol and ganon has red hair because red represents power in some cultures. Samus Aran has proved herself suitless in Zero Missions and in the "Justin Bailey" code from the orignal so that knocks that one out. I am also mostly Italian and Mario reminds me of my father and two of my uncles so that doesn't make Mario racist. Unless you flat out tell all the little kiddies out there these far out stretches of racism and sexual content in gaming then they won't notice it. I suggest perhaps Philosophy might be a good Major for you. You've thought way, WAY to far into these games.[QUOTE="Head_of_games"][QUOTE="snowman6251"]Why don't we just make every game black and white like madworld so no colors could POSSIBLY offend you.snowman6251But black and white is racist! In order not to be racist a game have equal amounts of every color on every surface! Everything must be tyedyed! sorry thats offensive to hippies This is tough. We can't have equal amounts of every color, we can't have any one color be more common than the others, and we can't have a lack of color. In fact, we shouldn't have any visuals because that is offensive to blind people! And while we're at it, sound is offensive to deaf people and controllers are offensive to paralyzed people! I know! We should eliminate user input and console out-put all together! :D

I bet if this guy went after Nintendo he could get money, he's the kind of person that would sue Nintendo [as some people did] because wii fit told them they were fat.
It's also people like this that complain so much till game companies lose their creative expression because they are now tied down by "making everyone happy" so all we will get out of them are games like, well i guess Mario paint is okay... but you get my point. Games are an art, and art either attracts or offends people, its call choice and free will, welcome to the rest of the world.
I kind of like this thread even if the ideology condemns the reality of human nature. Theres nothing wrong with trying to be better than the average brute I suppose.
I think we found quite the sociologist among the forums. Cheers to that.
Racism is always there, racism is also an individuals perspective of a scenario and how that figuratively fits within their schema and within their generalizations. there something wrong with that most likely, but games were never meant to be pc in all honesty..
You also come across one of the biggest dilemnas of all when you try to solve racist inferences. Once you try to correct it, you can just as easily be infered as racist because your motive is to alter and try to regeneralize a common understanding into something more than it really is. Once we try to start being super pc, then we stop functioning normally, because most likely we'll spend ungodly amounts of time thinking about how our actions can be interpreted as racist because we have to take into account every person alive, and that is just not possible.
Even if the thread is a parody the concept still technically applies. Making a joke out of something crude and terrible in order to relieve the stress is a natural coping mechanism, but when it becomes the exploitation of certain groups or people, then it can be determined to be not okay.
I guess the goal should be to stay in the middle between the extremes or you lose both.
He has to much time on his hands. Why do people always look for subliminal and racist things in everything? You all ever heard of disneys subliminal messages? People just look for this kind of crap.

1. So what if Link looks the way he does. Would you have really expected Nintendo to change the way he looks, just so people don't see them as racist? As for Ganondorf, he's more green if you ask me :P. As for the hair, I think it's just supposed to represent his fiery, evil passion. Btw, Agent Spin from Elite Beat Agents is a black Nintendo character.
2. Hiding Samus's female-ness was their original intent. This wasn't because they were sexist, but it was because they wanted a woman protagonist in one of their games, while still having the appeal of male gamers. Besides, nowadays, they're showing ZSS more and more (more than just the end in MP3 and in Brawl).
3. The damsel in distress didn't start out aryan, nor did Peach start out as Peach, just saying. As for the name, do you honestly believe the Japanese game designers were hip to American slang? And Mario being "hairy"- possibly stereotypical, but not racist. When they point out his moustache (talking about how amazing it is in Paper Mario/Mario and Luigi games), it's just because he started that way and has become his trademark. Along with his hat, it's what makes him unique. As for Yoshi, look how happy he is. I've yet to hear one complaint from the Yoshi community. Wario's traits are just from Nintendo giving him some personality. Your argument's a bit of a stretch there.
4. First off, "cowboys" are not a race. Second, Miyamoto was meant to look like a steriotypical bandit, not a cowboy (I'm sorry if I've offended any bandits right there). It was meant to be just a lighthearted joke.
Was the TC really serious when this topic was made? I just always looked at Ganon as a dark green-colored fantasy character than a black character. I mean there are way more white/asian video game villains as there is, so I don't see the point. I'm African American and I'm not offended if Nintendo intended Ganon to be 'black'. Actually, I think Ganon is pretty badass and perhaps he could be played by a brotha if they ever make a Zelda movie.
Wow, this failed hard.....especially since you don't know what you're talking about. Dude my family is Irish and not one person in our family has red hair. Red hair comes from the Norwegians. Also who cares if ganondorf has dark skin but red hair, ITS A VIDEO GAME.
:lol::lol:
"Yoshi is a mockery of dinosaurs everywhere. No dinosaur would allow itself to be ridiculed by being ridden by a man, being punched in the back of the head to the point where its tongue would fly out of its mouth, without retaliation."

I just love those lines! :P
I think that you're taking things too seriously, especially when you said that for a liveable america or something like that (you were talking about your country which is not called America, it's United States of America). In most of your points I don't agree, but I think your opinion is valuable and it's your personal point of view. C'mon guys, this is a forum for discussion and not for aggression against someone that has a different point of view.
Is this a joke? The only racist thing I've seen in a Nintendo game (and I've seen games on all platforms) is in a Warioware game where you had to 'pick the weirdo' and it was a black face in amongst a bunch of white ones. This game changes all the time and at this point we hadn't created any Miis.
The references to Yoshi and Samus are both way over the top. There are plenty of games with heros with different characteristcs than blonde hair.
How about Kid Icarus? Wasn't Pit supposed to be thousands of years old? But instead of making his figure correspond to his age they made him young! Nintendo obviously thinks that old people are bad! And Star Fox is offensive to Wolves, Chameleons, Panthers, and people with only a head and hands!Ha! This thread is still going AND people are still taking it seriously!
Also there must be more racial issues within Nintendos gamesthenthe ones mentioned in the original post! There has to be!
Shayde_Shadow
And Star Fox is offensive to Wolves, Chameleons, Panthers, and people with only a head and hands!Head_of_gamesExactly. The depiction of Andross as an evil character only propagates the stereotype that leads to this attitude.
Exactly. The depiction of Andross as an evil character only propagates the stereotype that leads to this attitude.[QUOTE="Head_of_games"]And Star Fox is offensive to Wolves, Chameleons, Panthers, and people with only a head and hands!JordanElek
Now that I think of it, creating characters is hard. It should take careful planning or else anybody will attack it somehow. Who knew Ganon was a black irish man?
As an Italian and American, I do not find Mario or Wario racially offensive. On another note, 30 years ago when Nintendo made all these games this crap called "political correctness" didn't exist, and unless you worked in the sex business you didn't know about any of this sexual slang crap
maybe we shouldnt play re4 cuz its offensive to mexicans or not use ness in brawl cuz it shows kids to play with fire. gimme a break. just play the game cuz there is no racism
umm... haven't read EVERY post (way too long) but am I missing something with ganon? wasn't he... green? Because I think he was green...... Any green people we could offend? (and if someone says that that points towards more irish people, seriously. shut up.)

I just love it how you say that this part is racist on their part, when it's really YOU who can't get over your OWN racist issues. The "race of true pioneers"? If that isn't pro-white propaganda, I don't know what is. P.S.: I'm white too. Deal with it.[QUOTE="garrett_duffman"]I just love it how you say that this part is racist on their part, when it's really YOU who can't get over your OWN racist issues. The "race of true pioneers"? I can understand someone seeing the massive wall of text, assuming it's a bunch of stupid trolling, and think that Garrett is and idiot, but this = It is not humanly possible to take that paragraph seriously! Of course, maybe I'm just making that very mistake and you are also being sarcastic. Stupid Internet.
You're kidding, right? Nintendo has already proven that they're not racist. Last time someone said they were racist, Nintendo created Super Smash Brothers, which brings all their characters together to fight battles in which everyone is a winner, kind of...I don't know... you're stupid.
...last i checked RE4 didnt take place in mexico. it took place in spain. not all spanish people are mexican...maybe we shouldnt play re4 cuz its offensive to mexicans or not use ness in brawl cuz it shows kids to play with fire. gimme a break. just play the game cuz there is no racism

Some kid is hating on you because you are a Japanese company.
I find this very troubling. I can't stand racist people.
Please ignore him and continue making your fantastic games that everyone enjoys.
