I can say after a few hours online and the first 5 or so missions i don't feel much was lost in translation from PS3/360 to Wii that i care about

Sure graphics aren't as good (who would honestly compare them to it?) and the physics with deaths are occasionally odd (strictly just when you get shot from behind sometimes your guy falls backwards somehow) but honestly i feel it is everybit immersive (for what its trying to do i dont think COD in general is super immersive) and maintains every bit of atmosphere as the PS3 version that i beat nearly 2 years ago

I do prefer the Wii controls, i believe they make this game so much better, as i can't stand the DS3's close analog sticks, and i'm loving the IR aiming as much as i though i would

i like the guns/hands as far as graphics go, it has a nice draw distance at all times and the fire animations are really quite nice IMO

I ask ppl this often: Do you the hardware constraints of the PS3/360 limit those versions from having the "atmosphere and immersion" of the PC version?

I don't think anything is really lost in this wii version, other than split screen (which i've never been fond of 4 IR pointers in tiny boxes)

I'm very satisfied with it and would like any owners of the game to look to my sig and add my FC

and this is easily the best online game on the Wii period. Only Mario Kart comes close to rivaling it but Kart doesn't have nearly the depth as far as online multiplayer as this does IMO

rejoice Wii FPS lovers, this is probably the only good FPS we will get on wii until, well unti Trey makes another fine COD for Wii (seeing as very little other devs want to make FPS on wii)

The gap between the PC and the PS3/360 is nowhere near as big as the gap between the PS3/360 and the Wii.

The number of maps is enough

I agree. There's 16 maps. More than twice as much as The Conduit.

No of course it isn't as large but if you're running WAW on high it looks better, esspecially in full 1920x1080 i'd imagine

(do the PC versions of COD run in native 1080p or upscaled like the console versions?)

I don't think it looks good

Infinity Ward's work has been torn down. The atmosphere is completely gone from the game

If there was never a Modern Warfare game anywhere else you could say this was an ok title, nothing great nothing horrible.

Since everyone has seen what Modern Warfare is supposed to be this just feels wrong

It's the mistake that so many devs make on the Wii. Instead of making something that plays to the Wii's strengths they instead majorly downgrade a game and call it a day

"""""I don't appreciate this kind of laziness anymore. It's 3 years since the Wii launched and it's owners deserve better efforts then this"""""

Darth-Samus

 - I feel that statement should have come from your "Baby carrying Wii Game" thread :P. Not a killer port of the revered Modern Warfare, right? Right?

I just don't ever understand you Jay.I know you'll say that I'm wrong here which I understand...but what I believe is that maybe you personally are not intersted in the game, which is cool, there's not one thing wrong with that, and that deep down you know that the video and the game look mighty impressive...but you're afraid that admitting it looks good will mean that you're saying you like the game when you don't want to.

Don't you think the video with the nightvision looks pretty impressive? How can you not? The mood and the pace as well as the action and graphics are all present. Add to that the superior shooting control and you pretty much have the superior version of the superior fps. One way I tend to look at it is that - if the original Modern Warfare on a completely made up scale would have a graphics level of say, 100%....the the Wii version looks to me to be at around 80%. Compared to most Wii versions where they really are "LAZY" and give us about 60% when, like you said Jay, Wii owners deserve better than that. Well....here it is. A game we can be proud. You (Jay) and all of us should be happy and excitedon the principal of the fact that we've gotten this great looking version of this game. It's a major coup for Wii owners. It won't mean anybodiy who doesn't want to be will be a fan of the game. But they deserve some credit I feel. Looks amazing. CoD fan or not:)

That was an epic little speech right there. *applauds* =D
And yet we have NO IDEA what the game REALLY IS. How about we keep the negative speculations to ourselves and stick with the facts? I saw no lag in the online vids. WaW had no lag and scored 8.5 and this game is gonna have better online. Having said that, I don't think it'll score better than WaW since this is an old game but even if it scores lower, I bet this will be a better game if you get my point. I could be wrong though, this "could" be a bad game but I personally doubt it since this is an updated WaW ;)carter15kd5

I can tell you what the game really is.
It's a cheap, inferior version and due to the wii's hardware limitations it will cause:
worse AI
worse sound effects
worse visuals

the clincher:
It's been out for 2 years already!

the first three things is usually prevented when the developers just put it on the wii as a PS2 port. B
But the most idiotic thing is happening when this actually being built from the ground up and released on the absolute worst time- the same day as Modern Warfare 2's release date.

you forgot bad online/ lack of dealing with hackers and DLC/ patches

wiimote isnt good for fast turning like on the pc

Incorrect.

With a proper control option (i.e. tuning, camera, X and Y speed. As seen in The Conduit and Reflex) it works incredibley well. Very quick.

Besides that, even if it's not quite as efficient as the pc, it's far superior to the duel analog found on the other two consoles. Isn't that what really matters. That counts for more than something.

yes it better then the other 2 consoles but as what i have played in the conduit n moh heros2 the turning is bad it never feel accuate enough

16 maps yes miore then the conduit but conduit is a joke

also i meant DLC in general wouldnt you want them to add more features to extend the life of the game (new maps, vioce chat, update on the engine to ruin better)

Judging from the videos, the online seems fine. True. Wow, DLC? The number of maps is enough

every wii game has lag even mario kart wii due to the lack of hardware

mario kart wii is able to hide the lag better then most other games because its a racing(this goes with any system in general) game but when playin a fps lag becomes more notisable

And yet Treyarch have said that they are going to be making the Wii version as good as the 360/PS3 versions and I do believe they mentioned same AI and same sound. Oh cmon Wiifan, of course there's going to be "worse" visuals but that doesn't mean it's going to be bad. Oh and some people already have the game and said the Wii version is pretty good. Who are people going to believe? The developer and people WITH the game or someone who's clearly bitter about this game for some odd reason? Also so what if it's been out for 2 years already? Okami has been out for the PS2 for so long and no one complained when it came to the Wii. And honestly, who cares if it's coming out on MW2's release date? Will that affect Wii MW sales? No because MW Reflex is for Wii and MW2 isn't. If both MW2 and Reflex were on Wii and came out on the same day then I'd agree. Oh and don't even say "Why didn't teh Wii get MW2 tehn?!" because we know this game is for Wii only owners or Wii control lovers and we can't have MW2 without an MW1.

They're going to come out with a new Call of Duty every year. The franchise extends it's own life.

Mark Bozon from IGN has some issues with the game. Interestingly, one of his complaints was the controls.

Oh and don't even say "Why didn't teh Wii get MW2 tehn?!" because we know this game is for Wii only owners or Wii control lovers and we can't have MW2 without an MW1.

Okami is a different story.Clover Studioswere already developing the game beforethe worldwide announcement of the Wii. It even came out 2 months before the launch date of the wii. And it was PS2 exclusive, so it counted outgamecube, xbox, and pc owners, and I'll throw in XBOX 360 too.

For Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward had their chance to develop it for the Wii back in 2007, maybeas early as 2006. They didn't. If they had, the odds are it would have been made for the ps2, and then ported to wii, and it allshould have been launched on the same date.

Instead, over a year goes by, and Infinity Ward goes something like: "OMG Wii owners want this and Wii can handle it let's do it!" And they put it on the same release as Modern Warfare 2.Unlike Okami though, Modern Warfare has already been collected and playedby the 360 owners, the PC owners, the PS3 owners, and that includes those have multiplats, a Wii and something else. By then it was established it would buy it and who wasn't interested in it.In this stage, the only appeal Modern Warfare on Wii is are thehardcore gamers who have no availability to have played it before due to either not owning another console or not having the necessary computer requirements to run Modern Warfare on their PC. That's not many people at all.

The reason why "hardcore gamers would rebuy Modern Warfare due to its controls"hardly exists is because it's HORRENDOUS timing to be scheduled on the same day as Modern Warfare 2, with its expansive and newmultiplayer options, maps, achievements (for their XBOX Live or PSN or whatever is on PC), etc. MW Reflex may get a few buyers for those just wanting to replay it for the motion controls, but certainly not on a scale for the companies to make profit. Modern Warfare Relex will be a big waste of time and effort.

For now

This game has been torn apart before it's even released.

Give it a week or so for everyone to start tinkering with it and see what happens

I don't even want the game, or like the prospect of porting it over; however, you are being a drama queen. What happened to playing for fun? Nearly every online game has cheating/hacking of some sort; I speak from experience. In CoD:WaW, they deleted multiple accounts of players that hacked. Please leave that gibberish out of the thread.

Absolutley bro. I know I am at least!

We have both Reflex and Modern Warfare 2 in my house. My roomate just finished the MW 2 campaign about 20 minutes ago, he loved it but he did it in one sitting and in leass than five hours. I'm jazzed to play it and tried it a bit at the midnight launch last night, but I just can't take my hands off Reflex yet lol. The wifi matches are too good! But I'll get to MW 2 in a day or so. I mean I know it'll be the better game...till MW2 Reflex comes out ;)

Maybe because Treyarch never released any other screens? Idk.

Yeah but the controls seem like they're fine.

The main thing is that there is a lot more customization possible. I personally did the controls for this game, among other things. I gave you control over everything I thought would be useful, and most options are sliders rather than preset values. Your main categories are aim ****, camera turn speeds, sensitivity controls, deadzone proportions, button configuration, and then some miscellaneous options. Each of these catergories has 4-5 tunable options in it. You can set almost everything separately for whether you are firing from the hip (normal fire) or aiming down the sight (ADS), and there are additional parameters for when you are using a scoped weapon, a turret, or the ac130.fyzxwhyz

And that's why the controls rock. Again minus the 180 degree spin which I use all the time in The Conduit.

Modern Warfare Relex will be a big waste of time and effort.

wiifan001

Great points you made there but Infinity Ward couldn't have made the game 2 years ago because they couldn't make the game while making a Wii version at the same time. We knew there was just no way they could dedicate all their time and work for two games at the same time. Also the only reason why Modern Warfare Reflex came out two years late is because Treyarch only got the Modern Warfare engine to work on Wii last year with World at War. It seems pretty clear that Infinity Ward doesn't care about the Wii but Treyarch does. So I ask you, who made the MW engine work on Wii? Treyarch. Who actually bothers making COD games for the Wii? Treyarch. Who is porting the Modern Warfare game to Wii? Treyarch!. Infinity Ward had their chance like you said but only Treyarch would actually bother and they only bothered now because they only got the MW engine working on Wii last year ;) This is great for Wii only owners who haven't experienced the game and that's not a waste at all.

And that's why the controls rock. Again minus the 180 degree spin which I use all the time in The Conduit.
sooooooooooooo... i suppose everyone who got it is enjoying the game?Darth-Samus

I mean I know it'll be the better game...till MW2 Reflex comes out ;)

well that's interesting. i might rent it once it's available, just to check it :P

Well in keeping with the past few days' trend of Reflex overload, and being that I'm just super excited about it myself, I figured I'd share more. And like the topic said this is easily the best footage I've seen. It really shows how gorgeous the game really is. It stands against the 360 counterpart for sure (btw that doesn't mean I'm saying it's as good graphically. I know people would go nuts on me for that if I didn't clarify). Well here it is. Enjoy!

****EDIT: So I just got the game a few hours ago and have spent some good time both in the Campaign and online. So far here are my initial impressions:

- The graphics are very nice. I find them quite a bit better than WaW, though it is apparent it's an improved version of the same engine. Runs and plays extremely smooth.

- The controls are completely precise and build upon everything the Conduit has done. The best controls yet for a shooter as I had hoped andthey most definitely do improve the game. It's the best shooter out there with an evengreater control scheme. Brimming with win.

-However there is no 180 degree turn which I find sad. I use it all the time in The Conduit and find it to be a major loss.

-The online is flawless. Already many people playing online and it feels just as seamless as the offline campaign. Quick loading and no lag. Love it.

-As someone who played through all of the original between both the 360 and PS3 I can honestly say this is the exact same killer experience. In no way does this not feel like Call of Duty Modern Warfare. The excellent controls do nothing but enhance an already near flawless game. Not to sound like a fanboy, but it's everything I'd hope it would be so far. Totally love and I hope anyone who gets it does too.

It might help if you map it to a button you'd use. I can't remember the default but I have it on the up button. Especially if you play it online, give it a shot. I think you'll find out how efective it can be with just a little bit of practice.

Funny it has all the content of COD4 and i think its a good port

I'm loving it, just like every person who actually bought it on this board it seems who have none of the issues Bozon had, or find those to be so minor they aren't worth mentioning

IW doesn't try because the same kind of experience they're going for with the MW games isn't possible on the Wii. After looking at all the MW2 footage, its hard for me to even think that it'll be a good idea to port it over to the Wii.

well, it's a port with new controls. i'd go with "brand new game" instead of "new way to play a game i already have"

Doable maybe, but MW2 just ups the ante from the first game in terms of intensity and scale. So unless Treyarch gets to work NOW and really optimizes the engine to handle the stuff in MW2, there will be a lot lost in the translation. I watched a video of the sinking ship mission in Reflex, and it just isn't as intense of an experience because of the missing environmental effects. I don't like shooters that much, but I loved MW and I'm loving MW2 because they're very cinematic and intense, so anything that takes away from that experience is a huge negative from my perspective.

no DLC will be added to this game

Damn, I'm soooooo addicted to this game!

I agree with Jorden, and Haz.... I really, really don't think MW2 is even feasible in the slightest bit (even as a joke) on the Wii. There's sooooo much crap going on at once it's insane. From the AI on screen (enemies, NPC's) to just the visuals, and effects..... the game is just plain out insane. The multiplayer maps are pretty ginormous as well, I don't see how they would fit on the Wii

BUuuuuuutttttttt.........

I don't really care for the online so far tbh. It just seems like they added way too much to it. There's tons and tons of unlockables now (like icons and the like), but I really don't like the online, it just seems too different imo. Plus, I don't really care for the maps too much either.

Don't get me wrong, it's a damn good game, but there's a few things that I actually like about the original better. I'm glad we got the original at least for now. I kinda missed out on it the first time around (besides playing it at my friend's house). Still getting used to the controls though :P

I don't like shooters that much, but I loved MW and I'm loving MW2 because they're very cinematic and intense, so anything that takes away from that experience is a huge negative from my perspective.

I just don't find the environment makes games more intense. WaW Wii was intense, at least until the sniper missions when it became too scripted, because you were always under fire and any wrong move could kill you. Battlefield 1942 was intense, and there were no scripted events and it wasn't a very cinematic experience. In a game like Battlefield 1942, there are so many enemies that you never know where they are going to pop up -- that is intensity. Constantly looking over your shoulder, ducking in to a house and hoping the other team's army didn't see you and watching them run by. Gameplay is what makes a game intense. There were intense games that came out on hardware much weaker than the Wii. I'm finding the single player in MWii is too scripted, and that reduces the intensity for me. It feels like I'm just playing follow the leader, and that gets borring. The online does get fairly intense though because online isn't scripted, though the intensity would be greatly increased with more players. Since I have no control over cinematics, I don't find they add to the intensity at all.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone seen one of the opening levels in MW2 (the airport mission in single player)?

Man o Man.... this game is gruesome, at least that part is. I can't believe IW got away with such a level lol. Very well done though

That scene is really powerful if you're actually thinking about what's going on as you play. I found the same types of things in the first game.... It's very well done.

As much as I think Activision made a bonehead move with Reflex, I'm glad that a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't have played the game will now get a chance.

Yeah, that level is extremely intense. I just can't believe they
just smoked all of those civilians like they did
lol. I could see people blaming terrorist acts because of games now.

Also, not to sound horrible or anything, but a thought occured to me the other day while playing MW2 at my friend's. I wonder if terrorists actually play games like COD4 or MW2? Planning, and strategizing together. It's so realistic.... I might be thinking too deep, but it wouldn't surprise me

Yeah, I'm really having a blast with MWR. I'm glad I got a chance to own it for myself. I don't own any other console, and it gets a little annoying at times.
