Yes, you're blowing it WAY out of proportion, this is why people laugh at how finicky Zelda fans, because they can change something that was completely irrelevant before for the sake of improving gameplay and people throw a fit as though its the most important thing in the world, you really need to check your priorities.

So yeah, just you wait, they won't try it again.

Bye.

dude. i'm a lefty. AND IT MAKES NO FREAKING DIFFERENCE. it's just the hand you write. it's not like there's some KKK-like organization that hunts lefties and they suffer prejudice. you wanna know who else is a lefty? Zero. there, now go annoy capcom because every now and then zero shows up right handed.

i replied to you above.

It's in their ability,doesn't mean it's right.>_> Nintendo are humans,not gods.

They make mistakes.

I'm not blowing anything out of proportion.

And for the record, this is the first time he's officially right-handed,and that's only because most ppl are right-handed,which is stupid.

Don't misunderstand my words, search forums on the internet.

Imn not the only one,and i never, ever said it has anything to do with the story or game.

It's just something minor,but it's wrong.

Ok? you know it's wrong.

25 years of different incarnations of Links being officially left-handed,and now this?

GreekGameManiac

To BrunoBRS: Um.look at the artwork, and what Nintendo said.:/ Wasn;'t you that said that they needed to save memory in the old games? Don't accuse me of saying nonsensical things when you do. Example,in ALttP hes both if u look at him from the sides, but from the front and the behind hes left-handed. So yeah,he has never been officially right-handed till now. Wii version of TP was mirrored,it doesn't count. If you want to disagree with what ibwant, fine, but just get your own facts straight. Saving memory in an old game doesnt make Link ambidexterous -_- Thats stupid, hes left-handed in the art,and was said to be left-handed by Shigeru Miyamoto and others.

 You have nothing to back up any of your points, the game uses Wii Motion Plus so Link is right handed, this is a fact, its not wrong, and its the OFFICIAL statement of Nintendo. Personally I hope they change which hand he uses in every game in the series just to watch people complain about irrelevant things, it's very entertaining

You have yourself a fantastic day :)

Yeah...-_-

I mean,if they won't use motion controls for their new console.

Look.

I dunno why,but for some reason they can't have him be only left-handed in a 2D game with view from above,i think it has something to do with special programming.

Doesn't mean he's officially ambidexterous, look at ALL the artwork >_>.

You can't tell me hes been both hands, when the art shows him only left-handed,you can't use hardware limitations or developer laziness to back it up.

He's never been officially left-handed before this,period.

@bold part - oh lawl. you don't think they'll give up on the cash cow so easily, do you?

let me put this simply:

just like right-facing link was right handed FOR THE SAKE OF BEING PRACTICAL, link is right handed in skyward sword for the same thing. making him a lefty while you play right handed would utterly destroy the control scheme, which if you haven't noticed, is the biggest new thing about SS, to the point it's the only thing they bothered showing until now.

there's a reason why developers are developers and fans are only fans, and you're showing everyone exactly why.

they needed link to be right handed. he WILL be right handed, and the game will be better because of it.

In any case,it's awkward to have a left-handed person switch after so long.

You knew what i meant.

As for the motion controls...we'll have to wait and see,but aren't they making controllers with touch screens?

You realize him being left handed did not affect your gameplay at ALL right? And now the FIRST game where which hand he uses actually matters for the player to enjoy the experience and NOW you have a problem with it? I'm sorry you place higher priority on insignificant things that were forced by design over practicality and people having fun with it.

He was already right handed in the Wii version of Twlight Princess so its nothing really new. I don't personally care and I've been playing Zelda games since the first one. I actually had never noticed he was left handed until people started complaining. There are some angered fans, but to most people it's not that big of a deal.

FooFighter92

What are you talking about? Link is Left-handed in Twilight Princess.

EDIT: Oh, in the Wii Version! :P I'm stupid.

hahahahaha this. In other words TP for GC way better than for Wii.

Well, its just a Wii thing. The handhelds [and hopefully the N6 aka. Project Cafe] will have him left-handed.

a. Not a real person... so he really won't feel any awkwardness about switching hands. b. Even if he was, all Zelda games have a different incarnation of Link (with the exceptions of sequels, of course, i.e. Ocarina -> MM / WW -> PH) so you wouldn't really know if this one was left-handed or not, would you? The point remains, regardless, that switching his hands is only going to serve to make the control scheme better. I don't care if it's "wrong" like you say, we finally have 1:1 sword control, I don't want to move my right arm and have Link move his left... sort of defeats the purpose.

Edit: Sucks for real world lefties, though... sorry.

It is sad to see, being left handed myself. Link was the left handed hero, something very rare to see as 95% of hero characters tend ot be right handed. So it was a nice feeling to know that Link was a left handed character. There should be more left handed heroes. =(

That said though it is understandable why they had to change it. This Zelda is going to be motion controlled. Most people are indeed right handed so it only makes sense that Link would be as well. It does sux, since I use the Wii-mote left handed, but I'm only a minority, and the fous had to be the majority in this case.

In games that are not motion controlled I'm sure we still see a left handed Link.

see? slightly disappointed with the change, but accepting as it was made in order to make the game better. this is how people should handle the situation, at worst.

as for you, person i have quoted, just go play some megaman zero and enjoy your quota of badass lefty swordsman. also, controlling the wii remote like a right handed person is not weird at all (or maybe i'm used to it because i hate holding the nunchuk with my right hand). coming from a lefty that played SS, it should count for something ;) :P

Wait... what? I play with the nunchuck in my right hand and the Wiimote in my left, which I think is what you're saying, but why would I want to aim with the wiimote in my inferior hand? :P I'm HORRIBLE at Red Steel 2 trying to turn and aim with my right hand, it's simply unplayable. It's a little awkward adjusting to some of the stuff having the wiimote in my left hand for certain combos, but its better than nothing :P

XP Yeah, I've played Megaman Zero. I have also played Chrono Trigger with Crono and he a cool left-handed hero.

I can't play holding the nunchuk with my left hand, just does not feel right. XP Its my sword-hand and I like to swing with it. I did so with Red Steel 2. I'll adjust to the change, I'll make it work somehow. XP

how you manage to use the analog with the right thumb is beyond me. the wii might actually be making me ambidexterous. first guitar hero, then FPSs, and now this.

I can use the analog great in either hand, its the aiming and turning that is just soooo awkward for me in my right hand. Granted I broke my right wrist playing football and so I just got out of the habit of using it for any fine movements, I was pretty ambidextrous before :(

I find it odd that anyone would have a problem with the controller in their right hand, its the way controllers have always been, analog/dpad on the left, buttons on the right. The motions shouldn't be any issue, its not like your having an actual swordfight, where strength and dexterity is necessary, your just making basic movements, anyone should be able to do it with either hand. It would only feel weird to have the primary movement controls on the right side.

Dual analog and wiimote/nunchuck is a world of difference :P From now on play any games flipped from how you regularly do and then get back to me on it :P

I can use the remote in either hand with no issue, like I said, it just feels odd to have the analog stick on the right side. Even with dual analog, the main input device has always been on the left, putting it on the right, feels like playing the game with inverted controls.

True, I guess I just never thought of it as right side = aiming, just how I picked the Wiimote up for the first time out of habit then got used to it seeing as there weren't any games that it even mattered which hand you held it in for a while :P Now that I've gotten into M+ games it makes it a little awkward lol, it would be like relearning how to rehold a standard gamepad :P

now here's the funny thing: if you only need to hold the wiimote (say, sports games or a rail shooter), i hold it in my left hand. but if the nunchuk is involved, even if just for motion (like in boxing), i hold it the "right" way. actually i just made a test: i held my nunchuk with the left hand and then the right hand. with the left hand it intuitively went first to the analog, and then rested to its right. with the right hand, it couldn't find a comfortable position. aiming isn't really an issue for me (years of putting two coins into rail shooting arcades might have something to do with it  ) and honestly, sword motion is something so natural i could do it with my mouth if i had to. DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NOT, NOR DO I PLAN ON, USING MY NINTENDO WII REMOTE, OR ANY SHARP OBJECT, WITH MY MOUTH.

GAH you beat me to the impending joke I was about to make :P

I've been wanting to play through Red Steel 2 again, I'll try going through it with my right hand to see if I cant get acclimated to the feel so Skyward Sword wont be so awkward. Get used to new controls and replay one of my favorite games. Win win!

^ i actually really hate red steel 2, but for the wrong reasons :P

it's a good game, but the fact that you need strong, wide swings to slash with the katana rather than short, swift ones bugged me through all of my arm sore-ness.

note: the reason behind it is because i practice kendo (actually used to, i should try to go back though), so "doing it wrong" was hard... what was supposed to be a strong hit would count as a weak one or recognize weirdly.

the funny things are 1- in wii sports resort, my wrist flicks work pretty well and are actually pretty kendo-like (aside from anything but a downwards slash or a thrust, but i'm pretty sure nobody thrusts on WSR :P) and 2- it didn't annoy me when i played skyward sword. maybe it was the idea of actually holding a longsword instead, or holding a shield on the other hand... i don't know, but it worked fine in SS and WSR, but i went almost all the way through RS2 with it annoying me (and causing me pain).

i also refused to change the settings because i felt i had to play it the way it was intended to be played.

Really? thats weird, I really just found that wide swings as the game directed was all I needed for it to count it as a strong slash, not necessarily the force with which you swing. And you can turn the sensitivity up to lower the force required to generate a swing in the options menu :P I do get sore in my shoulders and feet though, I refuse to sit while I'm being an epic cowboy ninja, so after a few hours the feet back and shoulders start to kill me :P

^ you were too fast for my edit :x i do play any and all motion-heavy game standing up (hell, i fought the last boss in prime 1 standing up and it was amazing). so sports games and sword games? stand up. i don't even get how people can play wii sports sitting down and have fun. actually, i'm almost sure they don't. because they're doing it wrong. but even when i stand up, i don't jump around, at most a stance change, and even then it's not enough to get my feet sore :P

Haha sorry I beat the edit, yeah I really dont fiddle with too many settings. I don't think ive ever sat for any motion based game, and while I dont jump around and stuff for most of them, I get REALLY into wii sports boxing and I move around a lot >.< :P

if you don't play wii sports boxing like you were boxing for real, then it's not worth it :P

a similar case happens to be skyward sword, where the more over the top you act, the more accurate the controls (this coming from the booth guys, which i tested and approved... OKAYOKAYI'LLSTOPBRAGGING... i thought you'd like to know what the booth guys said :|)

and i actually sat and played "the unfair, silly, pointless way" for archery, when i was trying to get the stamp for hiting all secret targets (the things achievement hunting can do to a person... )

When I think about it, surely you can still play it with your left hand and it'd still work decently? Your back swing will be your forearm and vice versa, but that's no big deal really..

GreekGameManiac

um......

I don't care for controls.

I want LINK to be left handed.

I dont care for controls.

Haven't you been paying attention?

Ok fair enough. But the fact is that there are more right handed people than left. And you've gotta accept that fact. YOU will have to bear the burdon of playing your forearm swing as a backswing. But since you don't care for controls, your only gripe is with the untraditional use of the sword. But to put it simply, your "wants" are outnumbered.

You will get a lefty in the non motion games, so the tradition is still acknowledged, that should be good enough.

BrunoBRS

see? slightly disappointed with the change, but accepting as it was made in order to make the game better. this is how people should handle the situation, at worst.

as for you, person i have quoted, just go play some megaman zero and enjoy your quota of badass lefty swordsman. also, controlling the wii remote like a right handed person is not weird at all (or maybe i'm used to it because i hate holding the nunchuk with my right hand). coming from a lefty that played SS, it should count for something ;) :P

>_> are you reading what i say? i WILL play the game.

I'll just pretend he's left-handed.

Just cause i'm forved to accept it,don't make it less awkward.

So i hope Nintendo won't try it again.

Link is ambidextrous. Play ALTTP. Depending on which way you're facing, he uses a different arm to swing the sword. I believe if you're facing right, he uses his right hand.
