Not too bad. But more importantly, the game only sold around 40,000 copies so far in the U.S. (according to VGChartz), so it might be worth something some day. The best part was that Anubis II was sitting on the shelf for $29.99, and I got 3 games for that price. I had a good laugh and told the clerk that his boss was an idiot. He agreed.

Anyway, guys, I need your help.

I'm writing a paper for my Gothic and Horror Literature cl@ss and I decided to talk about the gothic genre in videogames (games such as Bioshock, Eternal Darkness, etc).

My problem is that I need to find some good sources for material. I need articles about how the Gothic genre is used in videogames, what works and what doesn't, etc.

I don't have a lot so far, so any advice would be really useful. Anything that involves Gothic + Video Games = happy times for me!!!

Start with Gothic art and find out when and how the styles were used

Then look at the video games and see which ones take their Gothic style from one particular style or age and what games use a mashup of the Gothic styles overall.

Another angle is then looking at how those games with various styles ranked in awards for art direction and such

Plus might I also suggest listening to the Smiths while you do this project? lol

I don't think those exist. Seriously.

You could use articles on the gothic genre of literature. You could show how the games borrow heavily from their literary counterparts in narrative structure and from their architectural counterparts in styIe.

I just searched several scholarly databases for anything directly relating games to the gothic, and I could only find brief mentions, usually in essays on popular culture. None of them went into any detail whatsoever.

I know, I know. That's what happened to me, too.

The problem is that those scholarly databases use peer-reviewed work only, a process that can take 5 years to happen, so obviously there aren't going to be many articles for my topic. I was just kind of hoping one of the regulars would know of a good site off-hand.

I searched non-scholarly stuff too. It turns out I can read EGM articles from one of the databases. The search engine I use (provided by my undergrad university) has an option for finding only peer-reviewed stuff. I didn't check that box, and it still didn't come up with anything good.

ok so Ive talked about my ministerness on the off topic forum just because there are a lot of religious threads and when I post there I do post as a baptist minister there but now that Ive been outed here I need to just say a quick disclaimer... the wii board is like my home on the interenet and while I always try to represent as a christian everywhere, when Im on here I speak as myself not as a preacher... a good example of this is the stuff I said about the media and girl's self esteem, that is all stuff I personally think and share as a private person but not something I would share with people that saw me as a representative of the church. So when you see me post just think of it as AG posting what AG is thinking, not oh so that is what christian's think.

Plus also dont feel weird posting what you normally would have before you knew this... sometimes people really change how they are around me once they know Im a minister.

I know all of you guys who are regulars on here wouldnt hold it against me but I thought I needed to just say this stuff anyway. None of this is as big of a deal as Im making it. Im off to bed for the night, catch you guys tomorrow.

I say the letters. It seems like all the Gamespot editors say it phonetically. SNES, too. It kind of bugs me, but not too much.

I worked with a guy named Jayson. He had a sad story. I'll tell it.

Jayson used to a be a professional baseball player. He worked his way through the minor leagues and finally made it to the big leagues as a pitcher for the Minnesota Twins. The year before they won the World Series, Jayson injured his arm. He could never play baseball again.

I met him while I was working as a third-shift stocker at Meijer (a superstore like Walmart) a few summers ago. He slid a tuna can down one of the aisles and made it stop perfectly where he wanted it. I made a comment about it, so he told me his story. All I could say was "...that sucks." I can't imagine what it must feel like to go from professional pitcher to a Meijer nightshift stocker....
