Games are rated M, which means they're for mature individuals. Immature people need parental approval.

So my question: Since you think it's flat-out inappropriate for you to play M rated games, do you then consider yourself immature?

Here's another question: if the zombie apocalypse arrived, would you just let the zombies kill you or would you fight them off? Because in RE4 you're not killing humans, they're already goners. No, you're killing the walking dead. So is it not ok to play that game just because you're shooting at what once was humans?

Why do you refuse to have your own opinion about which M rated games are ok to play and which aren't? For example, my girlfriend hates violent games but as long as she's not killing humans and instead some kind of imaginary monster it's ok for her to play them, regardless of rating. You have to learn to draw your own line in the sand, not let some ratings board do it for you. You're an adult, you should act like one.

bob_newman

That zombie apocalypse in real life thing is just silly. Next.
You didn't even read my posts. I draw my own line in the sand. You're not following though.

Resident Evil 4 portray humans that are too human like. Blowing off heads and watching blood spatter all over isn't something I want enjoy myself doing.

I already explained how I...draw my own line, and provided plenty of examples.

Bob, the only time you ever talk to me is through the anti-religion, ormy standards. Your only purpose here is to exploit me of any potential flaws regarding standards. I will not tolerate that any longer. For the 3rd time, I draw my own line in the sand. You do not worry about what games I choose to play and why.

Do you understand? Do I make myself clear?

Hmmm

I can't remember the last time I knew what rating a game got

Like if I'm playing a game and I see someone explode I'm like "oh this is an M game" but when I play a game and I see aliens or something explode I don't know what that would be.

Killing is killing isn't it?

Like boobs and swears and all that means M I think, aren't you allowed a certain number of swears in a G movie then once that's eclipsed it's PG-13?

Actually I think G movies don't swear. Some PG movies do. Shrek comes to mind. Referring to Donkey "I have to save my ass".

I can't think of a single non-Pixar G movie to come out in the last 10 years. Or really longer than that. Does anyone else make G movies anymore?

Oh I don't worry about it at all. I'm just curious because I can't follow the logic. Your problem seems not to lie with violence in video games but rather with how well rendered the violence is and to me that just seems a little hypocritical.

Its like beating your kids is ok as long as you don't leave a mark for anyone to notice.

wiifan001

It's understandable to not be able to follow the logic of those attempting to provide some sort of moral standard when it comes to video games. I don't expect you to undertand because you yourself probably aren't the guy who selects their games based on what's on the esrb, so I don't expect you to understand and I mean that in a nice, honorable sufficient way.

Wait, how is this a response to what snowman said? I think he made a very good point in that there really is no difference in the actual amount of violence in something like Goldeneye 007 and Halo, and you seem to be more or less just sweeping it under the rug by talking vaguely about "moral standards". :?

Heading off to D-Block tomorrow, visiting my gf's family. It'll be my first time on a plane...well once when I was 2 weeks old but parts of that memory are fuzzy.

Roboccs, what's to do for fun around there? I'm going to catch a Tiger's game but that's all that's planned so far.

Why are bosses in fighting games always so cheap? They're always incredibly overpowered and they don't play by the rules. Blazblue's idea of a boss battle is the last two characters you fight in arcade mode will be unlimited characters. Unlimited characters are altered versions of normal characters that essentially break the game. They do more damage, they have more health, their moves are changed to have larger hitboxes, and they will sometimes alter the move to do different things (sometimes a whole new attack, sometimes a powered up version that does extra hits). The new moves also open up new combos. Hazama's final two fights are Hakumen and Ragna. Without getting into too much detail Hakumen's thing is that he has a really big sword that does really big damage but he runs on a special meter unique to him that lets him chain moves, only if the meter is filled enough. Unlimted Hakumen's meter comes back so fast its essentially always full letting him spam big damage attacks and combos that he normally has to build up to, and then if he misses, the opportunity is missed. One 5 hit combo from unlimited hakumen (that he spammed) took out half my health on a hit. Ragna's thing is that his attacks heal him. The trade off is his health bar is fairly small. He regenerates a stupid amount of health in unlimited form. I took him down to half health, he hit me with a 5 hit combo, he was at about 80% health. To beat him you pretty much can't lose more than 30% of your health because he'll have regenerated too much to die. Playing against unlimited characters isn't fun. They don't play by the rules. They are a classic example of this. They're lazy boss design and one of the low points of blazblue. And in case you couldn't tell I just beat them after giving myself all sorts of wrist cramp.

It's great. Just remember, all it takes is one bird, one lightning bolt, one pilot's heart attack to bring the whole thing down.

Watch it Chocobo. Plus, I'm sure she doesn't live in Detroit, no one lives in Detroit anymore really. I'm guessing she lives in a suburb of Detroit. Bob, a Tiger game is your best bet, Comerica Park is awesome. If you like Coney Dogs Detroit is known for having some of the best. 2 places in Detroit are Lafayette Coney Island and American Coney Island. I don't know if you're in to museums but there's the Detroit Institute of Arts or Detroit Scienece Center. If you want to see the history of the automobile and the industrial revolution and all that jazz you could check out Greenfield Village; I think that's in Dearborn or something which is really close to Detroit. I don't know if you have Cider Mills or Apple Orchards in Vancouver but this time of year with the weather change is great for getting cider and fresh donuts/ If she lives in the Suburbs then it's pretty much like anywhere else. Not a whole lot to do; I'm kind of blanking right now.

I hate planes not because of fear but because they are highly uncomfortable. Damn seats have no leg room and I'm always near the crying baby.

I am going to a University toga party tonight.

I feel like I am far too old to be doing this kind of thing; but on the other hand.. how often to you have an excuse to drink caesars while wearing pretty much nothing but a bed sheet in public while still being perfectly sociably acceptable?

I was kind of disappointed with my frat party adventure. I mean there was alcohol tingling my brain but there were no windows, therefore no ventilation, so it was really hot and the air was stagnant, there was barely any room to move around, it was filled with loud, bad, music, and getting there and back was a legendary pain in the ass. Its not exactly something I see myself doing very frequently.

I went to one party in college then quit. Not my thing. So we had our own parties at our own apartment that didn't make you want to kill yourself. Good times were had by all, and stupid people weren't invited. So that meant like ten people were invited.

I hate bars, too. They're loud and smelly and expensive and you need a DD and you're stuck there until the lowest common denominator of your group feels like leaving.

The occasional party was fine once in awhile. Sometimes it's just fun to see stupid people in action.

I totally agree that the bar-scene is a waste of time. There was one bar we would go to sometimes that was a piano bar which did lead to some memorable times. What's more fun than the emotional high of blasting "Living on a Prayer" and "Piano Man" at the top of your lungs filled with some liquid courage?

I always liked small get-togethers with buddies at an apartment. I've never attended a frat party and was better for it.

Multiplayer modes shouldn't be added to every single game. Dead Space 2's Multiplayer looks bad ... at least the actual single player campaign looks amazing.

Looks kind of like Left 4 Dead meets AVP. I don't know it looked alright. Maybe worth a couple rounds. i don't expect to spend too much time on it but it could be an interesting diversion.

Competitive multiplayer in a horror game?

Sigh... you know it'll boost sales, too, which is the sad thing.

They are two team Ico games. In Ico you wander around a castle solving puzzles to escape but you have to bring along a girl with you. The game is like one big escort quest (but done much better than every shooter with an escort mission) and the puzzles revolve around getting the girl from point A to point B. Shadow of the Colossus, the game I care about most in the package, does two things. You explore the world on your horse and you kill bosses. That's it. The overworld is massive but there are no enemies in the entire game, except the bosses, which are gigantic. Its considered one of the best games ever by many but my PS2 broke before it came out and I never got a chance to play it. If this thing is legit, I'll finally get to play it.

Because I'm such a nerd I find competitive gaming more interesting to watch than sports. I love watching the best Japanese players do Blazblue matches. They're insane and I can learn combos and the like from them. I also watch starcraft matches even though I don't play the game because they're really interesting. I could care less about shooter replays because its just twitch reflexes most of the time.

I also prefer pro football but my love for college is growing. I don't care if I didn't go to the school, I still root for the home team.

I'm not a big football fan, or really a sports fan in general but today my school had it's home opener, which is always a good time. And we played our long time rival and beat them. And our team sucks. It's a horrible team. Won two games in the last two years. And our rival is very competitive. Generally for football games we assume we lose so we just go to get really drunk and chirp. We all figured it would be a loss by higher than about.. 50 points. But we won! Success.

Also, the toga party last night... no one else was in a toga. How embarassing.

T-Minus 10 minutes until Michigan V. Notre Dame...

I was there. It was a great game to be at even if my team lost. There's something about college football with all the players' flaws that makes it way more exciting to me than the NFL.

I haven't been to parties. Nothing in High School and nothing in University. Haziqonfire
Same. No parties for me. Just let me be in my parents basement completely isolated with nothing but video games for the last several years :P Screw friendship! Up with animated pixls and shouting in front of your TV with the metal music cranked up to an 11! :P:P Yeah! :D:D

I'm not familiar with the work of either game. What are they? Are they going to be sold in stores or on PSN?

Instead of Sony fixing their problem with backwards compatability they're going to charge their owners for the mistake

I guarantee you if Microsoft released Halo 1 and 2 in a bundle with HD graphics you'd hail them as the greatest people on Earth. Also another benefit to the HD remake of these two games is that, Ico in particular, are insanely hard to find. Ico goes for crazy money on Ebay.

A-HA! *claps twice* But it is an HD update ....Look at me trying to defend Sony :(

EDIT: There was one more sentence I added, but I realized it was just stupid shortly after.

So I finally got around to fixing up my room and unpacking/hooking up the Wii, only to realise I have forgot my nunchuck at home. Dammit.

Oh well, at least I can still play Metroid Other M once I get around to getting buying that.

I just got back to college with all my stuff and I forgot my mouse. I have to use the crappy laptop finger pad now. It has no scrolling wheel. How will I open things in a new tab with one click!?

What a horrible day for the Lions. They lose their starting quarterback with high hopes to a shoulder injury (you kind of need a shoulder to throw the ball) and they got JOBBED at the end of the game. I understand the ref's call but it was still crap in my book.

What a bummer. I'm guessing Stafford won't be back for awhile.
