I, uh, own a PS3 now. The Move bundle. That I ripped on pretty badly for the last few years. It's not....bad. And I own a Madcatz controller. Which is something I'd never do but I own one anyways. It is very bad (like it needs to be plugged in and everything). Everyone else is talking about how good Naughty Bear is. They're, uh, right. I know a few of you own a PS3, but the machine is not staying at my place. So sadly no, I can't accept your friend requests on it.
I pretty much played everything i read that was discussed in the last month. Which is different. Usually I find something others miss and don't stick with it, but I'm 250 hours into Dragon Quest 9 and I'm ok with not playing something else.
I don't think my laptop is getting fixed. It is 6 years old and I'm saving up to buy a new one, plus I enjoy my time away from it. Not knowing there is a second Miles Edgeworth game shocked me. But I mean, it's pretty obvious that I was a casual gamer that just liked really obscure games, even when sometimes I couldn't stomach their bad gameplay. Its not really like I needed to read GoNintendo every day to have an inkling that I'll like Kirby.
Also (yeah like I wouldn't also), Jason, without someone to agree with you, you don't have the fuel to be sporadic. This is where self-righteousness comes into play. And Bob, Jordan might not throw parties but if you're in the area I'll make sure you get into one.
3DS keeps sounding better and better, now we know why GB andGBA games never came to the Wii VC. Also sounds like it is going to have good online and leaderboards for those who care about that stuff.
I'm just worried about the price tag. I'm guessing $250. THat's a lot for a handheld IMO.
the virtual console on the 3DS is awesome! can't wait to get some great games.... also did they say that some of those games are going to be in 3D?
$300 is too much, but i think they will reduce the price as well. Still the 3DS being as much as the wii?? Oh well i am still getting it :P
$300 = less chance of mass shortages. Even at that price point, some issues with stock could still come up.300 = fail
Get it under 200 for the American audience and then maybe
I do now that after this weak showing I'm going with the DSiXL

I'd rather it be $200 (or free!), but Nintendo would be stupid to release it for that. They MIGHT go with $250, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went for the full $300.
I have an extra 300 bucks to blow on gaming, I was pretty set on picking up a PSP and a handful of games. Now what with this 3DS news, I may have to reconsider. Considering the current line-up and VC, I can't not get one.
$300 is the conversion from the Yen - The Wii launched for the same thing in Japan and then launched in America for $250 and $275 in Canada. It'll probably be $250 in North America, which is still a bit steep for me. I was hoping $199-$230.300 = fail

That's what I did with the DS and it worked out perfectly. Don't think I'll be able to hold off for the 3DS, though....As much as I want it, there is a good chance I will be waiting for the price drop after a few years.
Plus, by then, I'm guessing I'll be able to get some good games on the cheap.

I had no intention of getting a DS, I got it as a gift a few months after launch. One of the most awesome surprises ever. I honestly didn't even really know what it was, I only saw the commercial once or twice and wasn't positive it was the next "GameBoy". Things are better when you have no hype going in. I will also have a very hard time holding off with the 3DS because it just looks so cool. I am going to try hard though... There does not sound like one standout games right now but I bet I would like a lot of them. If I had to choose one that would be closest to "must have" I would say it would be the next Paper Mario... as long as it's an RPG and not how it was on Wii. Mario Kart would be up there as well.

I never owned it on the N64, but I remember renting it at least a couple times because it was really fun. I don't know if it's another remake, but in this case it wouldn't matter for me because I didn't play the original enough to really remember it.
Star Fox and OoT, though, I can easily pass on, unless they've added a lot of content. 3D and portable aren't enough incentive for me to buy those games again when I can easily play them on my Wii.

The only time I ever did was I bought Mario 64 DS because I did not have an N64 at the time. When my brother had one I never played the game much and thought with the game on DS, I'd be more apt to play it... and I did and it was fantastic. If OoT and Star Fox 64 will be 30-40 bucks, it's a big waste of money because I can buy them for $10 on Wii. Exactly. I made the comparison to the iPhone. Even though it's like $500 and you have to sign a 2 year contract that costs like $100+ a month, people still snatch it up.You guys realize that Nintendo could probably charge 400 for this device in the West and it would still sell better than the competition?

I'm not so sure anymore
The DS used to be king and it's still king right now but with the iPod/iPhone and the other phones out there along with the PSP2 entering the fray soon the 3DS better have something up it's sleeve because so far what we've been shown is pathetic
Weak hardware with weak titles isn't a match made in heaven
I mean the little screen on the 3DS? WHY? You have a large screen on the DSiXL and then you go back to itty bitty screen. There's no *&(#@&*@# reason for a smaller screen. Keep the same sized screen and shrink everything around it.
I'm tired of Nintendo treating a visual medium like it's something else
Also the 3D is awful, we now have the ability to get the best images ever in our history and Nintendo is refusing to offer that so we can see shoddy visuals that pop
Screw you Nintendo and screw you again

I have no doubt
Thankfully the new Ranger game and Black and White are just regular games
I just don't understand who wants a smaller screen, bigger is better
I'm currently playing Dragon Quest IX right now too and I'm really enjoying it. One thing I really like, and ironically seems to be what it's most critically panned for, is the story. It works because it's light-hearted, very personal character based, and has good writing. The latter two you rarely see in RPGs these days. Yes, it'd be nice to see if there was more of an over-arching plot to keep things moving forward, pretty much each town has its own self-contained plot and that's pretty much it, but I'll still take this story over pretty much anything Final Fantasy offers.
Then again I'm not done the game (and not really sure how far along I am..), so we'll see where it goes.

I THINK I'm near the end, because I'm at the end of a prominent "get these seven things" part, which would seem like the end, but I don't know. It might be like Okami where what feels like the end is really the middle.

Many conclusions were made that I think your not in the position to make yet, like how good the 3d is I think as a standard you should not go backwards with important specs like screen size. I wish the screen was bigger myself but there could be a good reason for the smaller screen. There using 3d and they also have to account for horsepower. 3DS potentially could have games looking near 360 quality because the screen is smaller and therefore so can the resolution. Look at some of the games, they are visually more impressive than anything I have seen on the iPhone and PSP. The iPhone is not a dedicated gaming machine so better specs are deceiving. Its designed to run apps in the background and constantly be running.I've been playing DQIX more now that I have time. I loveeeee. So much fun and so simple and easy to get into. I can't wait to keep progressing in the game, its a good game to play in between bus/train rides to and from school :D.HaziqonfireI'm jealous. If I were to invest in any DS game right now it would be DQIX. I love JRPG and they are fun to play on portables for some reason. I agree with Jordan that current JRPG's are pretty complicated. Maybe that's why they are fun on portables... they are generally simpler, at least the one's I've played. I've got some down time this evening so I'm actually delving into Playstation Home to see what it's like. Not too impressed so far. Goldilocks planet found.
So here's the question: Assuming that there is no established intelligent life living there, assuming it were habitable, and assuming we could get there, would you want to move to this planet? Would you want to be a part of new Earth?
I say hells yes!

LOL! Greatest answer ever!! To aswer your question Bob, I would not want to move to this new planet. I think I read correctly (even though I skimmed) that the weather patterns are weird with parts of the planet getting as hot as 125 degrees and coldest being -25. Half the planet is bright all day, etc. No thanks. There is probably a small "sweet spot" on the planet with favorable weather and that area would probably get over populated. Cool article though... It's really good and I stopped playing RPGs a while ago, the only RPGs I really can think of I enjoy are the Mario & Luigi series, Chrono Trigger, The World Ends With You and the Kingdom Heart series (1+2, before the story got too convoluted), and so far I'm enjoying DQ9.
It's actually really fun. It's simple, but still has some depth to it. It's not overly complicated. They've also done some smart things in it like quick-saves, no random battles (which I love, I hate random battles), a bit of stats upgrading, etc.

EVERY RPG should have quicksave. That is the best idea ever. I know developers are putting in save points instead of saving anywhere/anytime to avoid saving right before a hard part and doing something over and over til you beat it, but why not add quicksave to just avoid that problem. There have been so many instances I can think of when I'm scrambing and rushing to find a save point because i don't want to just shut off the game and lose my recent progress. EDIT: Changed my mind. A quicksave thing that worked mid level but would force you to quit the game and could only be loaded once would work. That way you can get halfway through a level and if something comes up you can continue the level. Some levels are long (5-2 I'm looking at you) so it'd be nice to be able to leave and come back to where you were. So save, get kicked from the game, and you can only load it once. That could work.
