I didn't think it was liquid at all....

Yeah, I didn't think it was liquid but it's even funnier if it is. And the Lions are going to do that to the ViQueens today!!

I would enjoy it if the Lions beat the Vikings today

Their offense is really rolling and the Vikings haven't been a point powerhouse so far this season

So apparently I did the last story quest for Fallout 3 and then BOOM I can't play anymore. They're like "yeah I don't care if there are more sidequests and exploring you want to do, screw you, you're finished, no ifs ands or buts". The only way I can keep playing is to buy the Broken Steel DLC. What the hell Bethesda. I didn't even touch like half the game. This is some bull****.

I did not know about that. I tried to avoid things like walkthroughs and the like. The only time I used the wiki was when I became convinced I'd encountered a bug (happened a few times, nothing unfixable though). So yeah most RPG's like this let you do the last quest then keep walking around, but Fallout 3 is like "no, screw you, go buy DLC". Needless to say I'm kind of upset by this. I wouldn't have done the quest yet had I known that. I only had that one quest in my quest log so I just kept on doing it. I would've explored the map for new territories and quests had I known.

i think i only know because of some reviews, i heard it on these forums, and from my friends who have beaten the game. Oh well, are you going to get the DLC?

Kind of harsh... How did he know it was the point of no return if he didn't read any guide?

I just played it and I came across absolutely nothing that would lead me to believe the game would be unplayable after finishing the mission. That didn't even occur to me as a possibility until
The last mission gives you the option to sacrifice yourself and die. That happens in a room you aren't allowed to leave once you enter btw.
I did keep multiple save files in case I encountered bugs or something but I have them scattered about the final mission. If there was a a line given along the lines of "this is it" or "its all over after this" then I took that to mean this would be our final push against the Enclave and after I completed the mission I'd be done with the story missions. I thought it'd be like Oblivion. You finish the story quests, it changes the world accordingly, and you continue to explore the world seeing the fruits of your labor. But no apparently you're done for good. I can't think of a single other open world game that does this, because frankly its obnoxious. I looked up the needed DLC to continue the game and it apparently just starts with you waking up in a hospital 2 weeks after the final mission. Why the hell couldn't they just do that anyway and have the DLC add more missions? Its really dumb and I'm frustrated at this asinine decision. I was considering buying a few of the DLC packs (namely mothership zeta) but it appears I may now be forced to and that pisses me off.

I used 3 saves and rotated between them as I saw fit. I can't save new every time because I save a LOT. My friend has the GOTY edition and said he'll lend me that giving me the DLC for free. I guess that'll fix the problem but its still a stupid issue that shouldn't even exist in the first place.

I didn't know other M was bugged:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/112/1121498p1.html

I don't recall a bug ever ruining a gaming experience for me. I remember the Twilight Princess Cannon Room bug almost got me. I am a nutty saver and I rememebr after I saved in the Cannon Room I almost shut off my game but figured I would finish that part. Good thing.

I do remember way back when I had an NES when I was little and in Zelda II Adventures of Link it was so hard to get the hammer in death mountain. Then all of a sudden, I went to load up a game session and my save file all of a sudden had a bunch of items (including the hammer and the fairy spell) but all in the wrong order. Also had most of the hart containers. I had to start over. This happened one more time to my brother.

The only game-ruining bug I've ever experienced was in the PC version of Half-life 2. I got to a part a few hours in where an NPC has to acknowledge you and say a few lines of dialogue before opening a gate to let you progress. The guy just stood there no matter what I tried, so I had to start over. And it happened the second time through as well....

But I don't think that was Valve's fault. I'll just leave it at that. :)

I ended up buying the XBox version several years later, though, so I still got to finish that game. And I'm so glad I did..... It's probably the funnest FPS I've ever played.

Arrrrr Mateys!!

3DS release rumors from a German tabloid:

http://ds.ign.com/articles/112/1123555p1.html

November for Japan and Spring for Europe. Maybe that means December or January for North America. The $270 USD seems a little high; I'm still hoping for under $200.

You hate to listen to a tabloid, but at the same time, these things have been right in the past.

It won't be 270. Europeans always have to pay more than NA. Also it would be a dumb move on nintendos part to make it more than $200

I don't think it would be dumb. They've looked at the market and know what people are willing to pay. Look at the iPhone. What a waste of money that thing is, yet millions are picking it up.

I'm thinking a $249 launch price. I mean it's in3-D!!!

Ehhh, I haven't been "good" in a while but even that irked me to the point where I had to post about it

Don't worry, one day the impossible might happen things will get better and I'll be back making people cry because they're street trash that would have their heads cave in if they even tried to attain an ounce of cl a ss but until then?

You need a new edge. Something that says "I'm hip, but angsty".

As much as I hate tablet computing, the new BlackBerry PlayBooklooks great and it pretty much completely destroys the iPad, in terms of features. I still prefer having an actual laptop, but I have to hand it to RIM.

As much as I hate tablet computing, the new BlackBerry PlayBooklooks great and it pretty much completely destroys the iPad, in terms of features. I still prefer having an actual laptop, but I have to hand it to RIM.

Good. Maybe eventually these tablets will evolve to have better hardware, maybe an optical disc drive, an attachable keyboard, a couple USB ports.... That would be awesome.

Some of you have played Mass Effect 1 and 2 right? I've randomly started taking an interest and feel it may be worth sinking my teeth into it. I know ME2 is coming out on PS3 this January so I was looking for some thoughts from some people I actually trust. Is it worth playing 2 if I never played 1? The game looks pretty awesome and the whole series is really hyped up by gamers and critics.

It's one of the best games this generation, you know me and my need to play like 4 games on different platforms all the time and when I played Mass Effect 2 I only played Mass Effect 2 until it was done

I don't think playing Mass Effect 2 is worth it though if you don't play 1, you honestly create more then half of the story in Mass Effect 2 by playing 1 out.

The experience will be much better if you play ME first, rather than just skipping that and playing ME2.

That's what I was afraid you would say. Unfortunately I do not have the means of playing 1. I don't believe my PC would be able to handle it and I'm not getting a 360.

Man, game does look pretty awesome. I'm hoping for a demo on PSN.

Are you kidding me? What seemed like the most pivotal decision you could possibly make at the end of Mass Effect 1, which seemed like it would decide the entire fate of the galaxy, had its effects relegated to a tiny, optional cameo in Mass Effect 2. The entire design of Mass Effect 2, right up to setting it in the Terminus Systems, is based around minimizing the effects your decisions in Mass Effect 1 have on Mass Effect 2. Like every game of its sort, Mass Effect only ultimately presents the illusion of choice, one which makes the game markedly worse when one realizes the truth becomes disillusioned about it.

I still love the games. But I hold no delusion that it is some amazing branching story where your choices have far-reaching fundamental effects on the plot.

He's talking about the third half of the story.

LOL! That was well-put! When I read your first post I also wanted taquitos. Even after seeing the moldy ones, I could still go for some. But it's pasta night tonight, I had mexican 2 nights ago. Can't deny a good enchilada!

The "third half" being... the first half of Mass Effect 2? :P

No, the third half of Mass Effect 2. The first two halves are usually what we think of, especially the second half of the first half, but the third half has half the story from the fourth half of the first game for at least half of it. So that's why he said that.
....By the end of writing that, I got to the point where I don't even recognize "half" as a word. What the hell kind of word is that, anyway. HALF. GANDHALF. The wizard of India.
So all the hype about how much the First Mass Effect heightens the experience of the second is just that? I guess if I never played the first how will I know I missed anything?

The story of the first game is incredibly simple. You can google that. What you're missing by not playing the first game is the fundamental knowledge of the Mass Effect universe that you gain through character interaction and the codex. I enjoyed learning about all of the different races and their histories and tendencies much more than experiencing the actual plot. With that said, I haven't played Mass Effect 2 yet.

In terms of story, you will not miss very much by not playing the first Mass Effect. I'd still recommend playing it if you can - some characters do return from the first game, and you'll know who they are better if you've played the first - but Jason's claim that the story in Mass Effect 2 is strongly impacted by one's actions in Mass Effect 1 is just false.
