Yoshi's Island 2 shouldn't have been changed into Yoshi's Story, even though I still liked Yoshi's Story. :(Still the granddaddy of promotional videos.
SirSpudly
I had the Banjo-Kazooie promotional VHS tape. It looks deceivingly like the box to the actual game, which always gets my hopes up when I look through my old games and whatnot, thinking "what I don't remember owning this game! ...oh, it's just a tape", oh well.
I stopped Nintendo power before the N64 days so never saw those videos. I did get Dragon Warrior for the NES for free with my prescription. :)
I also bought Nintendo Power at CVS because it had a Twilight Princess Promo CD.
Whoops... I meant SUBscription. Kind of a fraudian slip because Nintendo power was a way to suppress my "addiction" to games!Just played some Link to the Past... I had forgotten how amazingly epic that game was/is/always will be.

It's pretty much Ocarina of Time only without the whole 3D thing, so that's to be expected. :P
which contributes to why A Link to the Past is 2nd only to Ocarina of Time. One of the best games of all time. We were talking about Nintendo Power and what-not yesterday and NP is what hyped me like crazy to get an SNES and A Link to the Past. The A Link to the Past issue was awesome and I looked at it everyday until Christmas which is where I finally got my SNES. I usually pick it up and play it around Christmas time and it brings back great memories.Just played some Link to the Past... I had forgotten how amazingly epic that game was/is/always will be.

Oh I see. You haven't played Ocarina of Time yet. That's ok, you'll get your chance. If you're not already subscribed to Kuriboh, you're insane. How did I manage to go a month without seeing this?
That is pretty much the greatest thing ever created.

I decided to preorder DKCR today. Partly because EB had a good trade-in deal going on, but mostly for the banana hammock:
Some scary poop happened to me yesterday night. Turned on the 40GB PS3 and a message came up instantly that said something like "HDD Needs to Rebuild Database". And I couldn't cancel out of it or anything . all I could do was hit X. So I went for it and loaded up my FFVII game save and there was nothing there. Then loaded my MLB10 season and it was. All this rebuild did was change the location of my internal PS1 memory card so I didn't actually lose my FFVII save, I just had to assign the card to a slot.... Phew!!
I was pretty scared though. I hope it doesn't mean my HDD is going to die on me soon....

Make sure you back up all you can and then hope for the best
I just had to deal with Sony to get them to fix a PS3 that's used maybe once a month after they told the owner that it's from "normal wear"
If it does break make sure you talk to a manager straight away, it'll help your chances
From my blog but maybe some of you can relate..
Urgh so there's been a lot of rain at home and my dad's basement got flooded. That sucks in itself, however insurance is covering pretty much everything.
HOWEVER. My Nintendo 64 collection was in the basement. The games all made it because they were in plastic bags/cases, but all my manuals and boxes did not, and manuals and boxes are not covered (which makes sense but still a downer). Since I'm kind of an obsessive collector who's a stickler about keeping things in good shape and complete, this is no good. So luckily I still have all my games but their collector's worth to be has been hit.
So now I'm not sure what to do, because it would be awfully hard to find replacements on ebay, and I cccould just buy all the complete games over again, but I'd certainly have a hard time justifying it to myself to not only rebuying games that I already still own, but also buying games that I've already bought and beaten, and will essentially just go back into storage.
One game didn't make it, which was Paper Mario. So I got a write-off from one "Nintendo game", which will probably be a new Wii game. Sucks I no longer have the original though.
Oh, and the one game that happened to not be on the ground where the water was... Pokemon Stadium. Fantastic.
I don't mean to make a huge deal out of this though, because it's not. A lot of people at home lost a lot more than boxes and manuals to their old video games. But I figured this might be an appropriate place to rant.
Why don't the Wii forum police (and the wanna be rats) just sticky this thread. Everyone else has theres Stickied.

Because there's no point to stickying this thread. Active conversation is the whole point of this place, so if there's no active conversation (which generally keeps this thread on the front of the Wii page), why bother propping it up?

Exactly. I never want this thread to be stickied. Ever. It keeps the quality up when people have to stumble upon it for the first time and then seek it out to continue to participate if they want to.
Touche.... :(The use of the wii remote speaker in NSMB wii = love

i dont get the sadface :(
However, most of the time that I've heard the wii remote speaker used it wasnt very good. I was SHOCKED when i was talking to my girlfriend on the phone and thus had the tv muted, and heard the sound when i picked up a mushroom. It was nostalgic glee :D

Why do people care so much about the country from which a video game comes from?
I made a top 10 list in my blog, and every game on the list happened to be from Japan, but I didn't even think about this while making it. Yet I've gotten several comments from people going "OMGWTF JAPAN!!!111", "WARE R TEH AMERICAN GAEMS", and someone even suggested that I probably lived in Japan. Really?

I love the people that say "I buy a 360 to support America" it's like do you see where every single console and handheld's parts are made? lol

A good game is a good game, a lot of them I honestly couldn't tell where they're from unless its REALLY blatant. (halo or final fantasy) Then you have games like demons souls where if they hadn't told me it was a JRPG I would never have known :P

Try it now, and hurry up before it too goes away, which may not happen because it's mirrored. Metallica finally received an answer to Ktulu. Now, they've been calling him since 1984, so it took 26 years to make his debut (just made that part up :P )

A guy who was suggesting Western-made games to me as games that he thought I missed included Resident Evil in that list.

Metallica calls it KTULU.
"An instrumental, it was inspired by the storyThe Call Of Cthulhuby H.P. Lovecraft. The author is a big influence on Metallica. In the book, the story says that mentioning the name Cthulhu (Verbally or written) will bring him closer. That's why Metallica used the name "Ktulu" and not "Cthulhu" - for fear of the beast."

I got my facts straight. If anything, I'm on his right shoulder, opposite to that of Cartman...which unfortunately in the vid is mirrored to make it look like Cartman is on the right shoulder. And the metal militia has been on Bieber, not H.P. Lovecraft. Metal, as in Metallica, as in The Call of Ktulu.
But I do see exactly where you're coming from, which I wouldn't have reacted so much in when threatened to be devoured like that :x
Because Metallica can. YEAH FREEKIN METALLICA!!!1

I bought Black Ops yesterday and what the hell Call of Duty. Remember when you got rid of infinitely respawning enemies and everyone let out a collective huzzah? Why bring that back? Why? I'll spoiler tag it anyway but I'll avoid any specific details.
There's one segment where you have to run forward into a horde of endlessly respawning enemies so you can kick a barrel of napalm at them. They keep coming back. It felt like luck every time I managed to make it to the first piece of cover because there were so many bullets flying up at my face. Then every time I managed to make my way down to the barrel and kick it I'd be instakilled right after the kicking animation before I even regained control of my character. When I did finally beat it it felt like dumb luck played way too large a roll in it as I barely made it back behind cover alive.
The other thing I don't like about the game so far is my teammates. You guys are invincible. Stop taking the good cover. Stop walking in front of me when I'm trying to shoot. Stop stepping on me when I'm prone in a pill box which forces me to stand up and get shot. Basically stop being terrible. Other than that the game is fine I suppose.snowman6251
Ughhh thank you so much for saying this, I HATED the respawning enemies in WaW and wasn't going to get Black Ops if it was included and proved to be an issue...
What I don't like so far in Black Ops is that most of the multiplayer maps seem very generic and almost randomly generated. Like in MW2, while not every map was excellent, you could still tell that each thing was designed with a specific intent and design. Black Ops maps all seem like they just took a wide open area and plopped random square buildings and corridors into it with out much design in mind. In the end most of the maps aren't very memorable and seem to be rather interchangeable.
Otherwise though the game is fine. After over a year of casually playing MW2 a new game is welcome, even if it isn't quite as good.
