Hey Gabu, your explanations for Epic Mickey were pretty spot on to what Warren Spector said in this article highlighted in this thread:

Your name isn't Warren is it?

I have no idea how No More Heroes 2 scored lower than the first... I was floored by how much better Im liking the second, and I really enjoyed the first!
it improved some things, but overall it was just not as fun. and the bosses were sooooo much better in #1. as in they actually took skill to beat.I have no idea how No More Heroes 2 scored lower than the first... I was floored by how much better Im liking the second, and I really enjoyed the first!

I would agree on the boss difficulty, but the style, visuals, soundtrack, feel of the game overall was greatly improved for me

not to mention they completely scrapped the overworld, which was a big disappointment. overall i felt VERY disappointed with #2, it was like they dropped the ball on the best parts of #1 in order to improve some of the things i care less aboutBecause the first was overrated here. NMH has WAY too many flaws to earn a 9.0. It seems comparable to Epic Mickey in that regard, but Epic Mickey scored low. If there's ever a sequel, the score can reflect any improvements over the first. That wasn't possible with NMH2 because the score left no room to reflect improvement.I have no idea how No More Heroes 2 scored lower than the first... I personally think that they both deserved 8's. NMH 1 for all of the quirks it had, as it had more than enough flaws to go around, and NHM 2 for fixing a few things wrong with NMH, but they also scrapped the overworld and any sense of adventure along with it.[QUOTE="WreckEm711"]

I agree with the first gettin an 8, the minigames and overworld were horrible.
With that being said, I would give No More Heroes 2 a 9 BECAUSE it scrapped the overworld. It was a completely pointless breakup of the great fighting, and a time waster to get to even worse side-jobs. The minigames in NMH2 are FANTASTIC, and i can jump right into them. It got rid of everything I didn't like in the first and improved everything I liked :)
Oracles of Seasons... man that game is so good. Though I'm ready to beat this and move on to Oracle of Ages. I haven't played these games in years.
Anyone else looking forward to Uncharted 3 in the desert? It could not rip off Indianna Jones harder but I don't care. It's going to be awesome.snowman6251
I'm completely indifferent to the Uncharted series, beat the first two, I wouldnt rate them as high as they've been given. They are really polished cinematic experiences, but as far as fun gameplay.... meh.

Oh they're incredibly derivative but I think they are incredibly well done. There is essentially not a single original aspect to the game but its just so well executed that I don't care. It's what Tomb Raider should be. It's what cover based shooters should strive to be. Also I actually like the character of Nathan Drake. I get why some people might hate on him but I think he's way more likable than a lot of the other characters out there.[QUOTE="WreckEm711"][QUOTE="snowman6251"]Anyone else looking forward to Uncharted 3 in the desert? I'm really not a fan of cover shooters, so that would be the main reason, its just such a shame to have such stunning levels and such boring combat :P
I agree with the first gettin an 8, the minigames and overworld were horrible. That's exactly how I feel, though if I were to score them both, I'd give them maybe a 7 and 8 rather than an 8 and 9. The one thing that BOTH games completely fail to do is give any sense of personality to the environments surrounding the bosses. The boss fights are great, for the most part, but everything AROUND the boss fights pretty much sucks, especially in the first game. If the dev is going to take the time to create a unique personality for each boss, at least let that personality seep into the game beyond the actual fight. With that being said, I would give No More Heroes 2 a 9 BECAUSE it scrapped the overworld. But yeah, the organization and minigames in NMH2 are SO much better than the first game. The overworld and mission structure in the first game are simply a hassle, and any sense of exploration is misleading because there's nothing to discover apart from the floating balls.
Those games are generally underappreciated. Most people either haven't played them or completely forget about them when talking about Zelda games.Oracles of Seasons... man that game is so good. Though I'm ready to beat this and move on to Oracle of Ages. I haven't played these games in years.

They're fantastic but as far as handhelds are concerned Minish Cap is my favorite. I've played that game so many times. Still, I no longer have a DS (my dogs chewed it up) and I never played the Zeldas for those, though I surely would have by now if I still had it.
Just got my first perfect victory on Taksunoko vs Capcom :D Used Batsu and Tekkaman... i love this game.

I didn't much care for the minigames in either. the 8-bit thing was kind of fun in 2, but It didn't really contribute anything to me.Those games are generally underappreciated. Most people either haven't played them or completely forget about them when talking about Zelda games.[QUOTE="JordanElek"]

Minish Cap = Pure Brilliance. I LOVED that game. I never finished Phantom Hourglass, that Temple of the Ocean King ruined it for me and I haven;'t played it in probably a year and a half. I should suck it up and finish it but I may need to start over if I do because it's been so long.I need to pick up the Game Boy games again. I started playing Links awakening and liked it a lot but then went away to college and forgot about it, I should pull that game out again but then I realized I played it "improperly" if you catch my drift...

Of course. How do you think I have every single game I could possible want for NES, SNES, all variations of the GameBoy and Nintendo 64? What are you looking at? Of course I actually have them!
:P
But which part am I joking about? :o
Hey Jordan, where are you blowing up this year's off topic lounge and starting the new one again? You mentioned it in the last few weeks but can't remember what you said. I looked back a few pages and can't find it.
If I'm not mistaken, we had a lot less posts this year.

People all: A Link to the Past was hard, as was Twilight Princess. Oracle of Seasons / Ages had brilliantly implemented puzzles for their items. Those magnet gloves were so cool and I'd like to see them return in a 3d Zelda game. Plus the Oracle games were the last Zelda games released where you actually upgrade your sword / shield, with the exception of Picori Sword to Four Sword.Oracles of Seasons... man that game is so good. The Yogi Bear promo poster is better:
No photoshopping necessary. I think I'm late to the party on this one, though. The Bombcast introduced me to it, and of course they mentioned Fireplacing on WiiWare later in the podcast, to which Vinny added the tagline "Good people come in fireplaces."
And yeah, last year's OT Lounge had about twice the number of posts.
I bought Dragon Age Origins in some special edition pack with the DLC. Buying this right before finals was definitely NOT a good idea. I can already tell this is going to suck me in harder than Fallout did and that was pretty bad in terms of me putting off things.snowman6251I've been eyeing Dragon Age Origins a lot. Hopefully I'll get some gift cards for Christmas and pick it up soon.
And this is a really cool hockey story:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Quebec-Nordiques-fans-set-to-invade-Nassau-Colis;_ylt=AgWeG.k4LrTM4TkZDDYNhq97vLYF?urn=nhl-294338
I really hope that both Quebec and Winnipeg can get themselves a team. If I had a choice, I would hope the Nordiques would come back. I used to like them as a kid when they started to build a winner in the late 80's or early 90's. I remember watching them in the playoffs on Hockey Night in Canada. Then they move to COlorado and win the cup soon after. I'd be so bitter.
-Crawl out of the xbox 360 lounge- Well after much reflections i decided to spend 200$ on a red Wii in January in order to honor Mario and just to satisfy my old school self, of course there's emulator but it doesn't beat playing on a TV.
There's already a couple of games i have in head but i'll see in due time. -crawl away- ;D

I was barely able to convince myself to do my physics homework today, and that essay due Wednesday, well, it can wait a bit. I'm a Dwarf Rogue as I always play the rogue in RPG's but this time I've decided to mix it up and spec for Archery rather than backstabbing meaning I'll probably end up being a ranger instead of an assassin. But yeah, the game is really good, check it out.

I traded in Origins and Awakening for the ultimate edition :P (ended up being cheaper than just buying all the DLC) I cant standddd rogue, and I'm forcing myself to play through as a mage.. I highly prefer warrior :P
The VGAs are awful, as usual. The Arkham City trailer was great though - Hugo Strange is going to be in it - as well as TDK Returns.Haziqonfire
The obviously scripted jokes were embarassingly bad.. Didn't agree with a lot of the winners, but given the target audience for that show, doesn't really matter anyways :P

If given options I always choose warriors. I'll probably go mage if I get the game because I hear they can become very powerful.Dragon Age has done something I can't recall another game ever doing. It made me feel guilty. There was a dude locked up who could potentially join my party so I went to ask the local priest if I could have the key so he could be released into my custody and atone for his crimes by fighting some darkspawn with me. She was the first character I wasn't able to persuade into obeying me so I ended up having to threaten a priest to get this dude for my party. My ally got pissed at me and I got the character but felt kind of bad about it. Well done Dragon Age. Well done.snowman6251You are making me want it more. Story and characters are what make a great game and everything I read is that is what makes this game stand out. Did anyone see the video of the Metrodome caving in.

The game plays like a really well written choose your own adventure book with some World of Warcraft-esque fights thrown in between conversations. The story is definitely the main draw for me, not that the combat is uninteresting, but the story is just so good.
