Great I go to bed sad and wake up to everyone painting in a room with no ventilation

I tried the Mass Effect demo, how the *(#@&* does it have that many technical problems when the 360 didn't? I mean even the freaking cutscenes have screen tearing!

Also they killed Little Big Planet 2

V Chronicles 2 is on the PSP this week for 15, thinking about that. The Witcher is 5 bucks on Steam so that's a must buy, and Bayonetta is 9 and change for the 360 version on Amazon.

Animal Crossing is interesting, it feels like a prison or a P.O.W. camp, there's a little spot of land and we're just supposed to keep busy and not upset the balance of the community. I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or if it's supposed to make people able to get OCD easier

Kingdom for Keflings is on the Live arcade right now, if you don't buy this game (and have the funds) I hate you

Someone wrote something like a Stephen King-esque fanfiction for Animal Crossing where the kid is essentially kidnapped and held prisoner on an island. It was actually pretty good, made all the more hilarious because he'd toss in pictures from the game with the actual dialogue and made it work. Perhaps you should check it out.

FTR I didn't stop posting because of Jason...well maybe a tiny bit because of him :P Things got hectic for me in the fall, I started looking for a job, got sidetracked when I found a lump in my thyroid and then my Dad got sick and was put in the hospital. Dad passed away November 30. Needless to say I haven't been following gaming as much nor getting a lot of time to play, adult life has intruded into my reality. DDRMom
Sorry to hear all that. I remember when Randy got a lump on his thyroid in Home Improvement but it was a goiter. Hopefully yours was a goiter too?

Your wart appeared almost in the exact middle of the last thread. I assume you get a lot of warts because it seems like you would remember getting one. The last time I had one was on the bottom of my foot and I had impromptu surgery on it because I thought it was a shard of glass from a broken vodka bottle lodged in there.
Just played the Mass Effect 2 demo, it's quite long. roboccs
Weird... I'm downloading the ME2 demo on the 360 right now, along with the Dead Space 2 demo. Haziq says I would like ME2 so I'll give the demo a shot even though apparently I won't be able to read any of the text on my SDTV.

And I also loved FFX. I put 100 hours into it trying to get everything possible. I can't remember if I actually accomplished that, but I was pretty close.

Suuuuuuuuure. I knew a kid in high school who always had warts all over his hands. He was also really awkward and had bad body odor. And another girl also smelled bad and probably had warts in .. other places.

So of course now they're both married and have kids. How does that even happen??? The guy was nice even though he was weird so I can kind of understand that, but the girl was mean and weird and gross. I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

Why does it always come back to a tv episode? Before my Dad passed away I was telling him about it and how the Dr had used the term goiter which I thought was very medieval sounding. My Dad asked if it was going to be like the Seinfeld episode where Elaine volunteers with the elderly and gets a lady with a football sized goiter. The term the Dr used was nodules and I have one on each side (4cm X 5cm on one side and 1x1 on the other) I'll find out exactly what it is when I go for a biopsy in Feb. and then I'll be having surgury to remove them sometime after that.

It's so worth it even at $60. The game itself is loaded with hours of stuff, not to mention multiple playthroughs are needed to get all of the story. Then you got over $100 dollars worth of DLC.

Metroid: Other M.

Not really sure what to think of it so far. I don't mind the controls as much as some critics did. The whole switching from nes-style controller to pointer isn't much of an issue. I do however tend to get stuck in a dead zone while in first person mode a lot, and sometimes it doesn't switch to first person mode when I point my controller at the TV. I've had a few problems with my sensor bar.. has anyone else experienced this?

Otherwise it seems solid, but I'm a bit worried about how scaled back the exploration elements seem. I'm also not a big fan of the camera. Lots of shooting off in to the distance at enemies I assume are there but not positive. Though I haven't played too much of it yet. Does the game open up more? Seems pretty linear with a few "hey now you get that missile expansion you saw earlier on!" thrown in right now.

I like the new name of the lounge. I originally thought it was a reference to V8 vegetable juice.

The controls work, and they are sharp. The problem is a matter of taste. Some people (including critics) like it, some do not, and the fact you can't fire missles unless you're in first person perspective would've been better The controls do work.

There are other Metroid games also linear- Fusion and Zero Mission for example. Other M is linear to the end, and won't get more open, just a heads up. Again, it's a matter of taste that some prefer open world, and others a linear path. Either way, the controls and linearity are this way because that's what the developers made it to be.

And just as I submit my last post, I get a glitch in the ME2 demo where I'm taking cover, shoot a mech, stand up, and am stuck in place!! Can't move, can't shoot, and I look like a fool.

No. Fix your sensor bar already!

Otherwise it seems solid, but I'm a bit worried about how scaled back the exploration elements seem. I'm also not a big fan of the camera. _BlueDuck_

It only opens up at the extreme end of the game. Any other exploration you might fancy is muzzled by inexplicably locked doors. And when there aren't locked doors, there's almost no reason whatsoever to go anywhere but to your target.

To save you some time, I'll just tell you that it's literally impossible to get 100% before you fight the final boss, so you might as well skip exploration (beyond visual exploration of each room) until the very end. I think the best way to play the game is to blast through the main story and then savor the exploration after that. I didn't play through like that the first time but I wish I had known to.

Majora's Mask > Final Fantasy X I just very strongly admire the loyal the Zelda fanbase, especially when it comes the n64 titles. I mean we actually will have another Zelda win- first Ocarina of Time as best game of all time and now Majora's Mask as best game of the decade! Just needs to conquer Smash Bros Brawl, which I'm sure are only voting Majora's Mask only because they want to see Brawl lose but still. Either way, Nintendo is #1. :D

[QUOTE="wiifan001"]Majora's Mask > Final Fantasy X I just very strongly admire the loyal the Zelda fanbase, especially when it comes the n64 titles. :Dcommonfate

Link is #1.

In which case, Link wins either way.

I am wearing my Twilight Princess t-shirt to support and recognize Link's inevitable victory on this day.

About freaking time, you're one of my favorite posters and I always look to take game buying tips off you

You're a part of this mishmash too you know

Jaysonguy

Yes, I noticed a distinct lack of ATLUS around here. You've bought like 200 games this year as well. Now I know I don't beat everything I buy but good golly do you even start half of what you get? Anyways, here is the list of games you should like.

  • PS1/PSN- Arc the Lad (and the $2.50 dungeon pack).
  • PS2-Ring of Red
  • DS-The My World My Way (.....yep)
  • DS-Retro Game Challenge
  • GC-Skies of Arcadia (it's at the point of being relavant now. Honestly by next year this won't be an "ahead of its time" title)

Which leads into the prediction of the year. Current count 3-0, Xseed was the new Atlus (make sure to preorder!), and Atlus sure as heck reprinted everything like EA does for those who kept score. Nippon-Ichi apologized for existing, not totally what I expected but they do deserve it.

Prediction for 2011 is.....The Dreamcast's reign is finally over, long live Sega.

And to everyone else, buy/sell/flip as many DS games as humanly possible. I have never seen so much demand for Ubisoft and franchise games in my life. Seriously. No seriously seriously. Like Terry Fawles Super serial.

The batmobile is now a real tank

I may have to sign up for the army if it means I get to drive around in the freaking batmobile.

Now I feel like an idiot because I thought the picture the Escapist put up was their prototype, aka they completely copied the batmobile 100%. Now I am sad.

I LOVE HOW THE LAST THREAD ENDED

[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]

I tried the Mass Effect demo, how the *(#@&* does it have that many technical problems when the 360 didn't? I mean even the freaking cutscenes have screen tearing!

roboccs

I noticed none of this. I'm going to play through it again but this time, finish the demo because i'm not starting as late.

Yeah it's there

KOTAKU EVEN DID A STORY ON IT

And just as I submit my last post, I get a glitch in the ME2 demo where I'm taking cover, shoot a mech, stand up, and am stuck in place!! Can't move, can't shoot, and I look like a fool.

roboccs

The ME2 demo is terrible. Why does it make you sit through so much story when it's just a freaking demo that's supposed to DEMOnstrate how the game plays? It took like 15 minutes to get to any shooting. I guess that's probably a pretty accurate picture of the game as a whole, but still.... I don't care about the story stuff because if I like the demo, I'll see the whole story, and if I don't like the demo, I'll never give a crap.

The Dead Space 2 demo, however, is amazing. It has a couple minutes of story catch-up then throws you right into the game and doesn't let up until it's over.

I'm scared one day that they are just going to slap Legend of Zelda one day on the box to some crap game... :(

That...can be debated.

Oh I've heard of that. So do you just shoot targets the whole time or something? No grand adventure, no memorable music, no cool new items, no secrets to try and remember, no exploration, no fantastic story with great dungeons and awesome bosses?

Yes. No moving either.

It's a rail shooter bundled with the Wii Zapper periperhal, and sold at my place for $19.99. The whole game is just shooting targets and foes that come toward you. It's just a rail shooting game with the Zelda license slapped on it.

Link never even had a Crossbow until this game came along!

A $20 game bundled with a peripheral with the Zelda license on it and it sells more copies than Twilight Princess.

As I mentioned in the previous thread, I've been replaying Super Mario Sunshine, and have been enjoying it a lot more. That being said, I've been putting off some of the secret stars, 100 coin stars, some of the more annoying regular stars, and blue coins for later in my playthrough. And now that I've gotten as far as I have in the game, I've realized just how much that's going to come back and haunt me. *sigh*

Those freekin blue coins made me hate Sunshine. Couldn't even provide a map or some sort of hint to which locations the blue coins were? "You have X blue coins left in this X land." Merciless and illogically hidden blue coins.

I had Sunshine for a while but I never beat it. I think I only got about 1/3 of the way through and then I just randomly put it away. Now I no longer have that little purple box... :(
