Wii U September Conferences Thread - 2 Bundles, Basic and Premium Announced [JP]

For those of you living in North America that are just waking up, Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct Japanese conference at 3AM and announced a whole bunch of details that might give us information about the upcoming US/EU events.

Japanese Conference Summary:

16:02 Wii U supports full HD 1080p, uses a "GPGPU." Main mem: 1 GB. System: 1 GB. Total: 2GB.
16:03 Games use only 1 GB of main memory. System memory is for OS. Game discs 25 GB, up to 22.5 MB/s (megabytes per second).
16:03 The Wii U consumes up to 75 watts of electricity. Typical power usage is 45 watts. Wii accessories can be used, as can Wii games.
16:04 You can import your Virtual Console and Wii Ware games from the Wii.
16:07 You can play games, watch video on the Wii U GamePad. It features smooth, low latency.
16:10 You can do multiplayer using a GamePad and several Wii remotes. Dual-screen play possible.
16:11 On controller screen: menus, maps, communication interface. Play without the TV possible. Miiverse is the system-level social network interface. You aren't the only one playing.
16:12 Miiverse is the system-level social network interface. You aren't the only one playing. Wii U software will be showcased at 11 pm Japan Time tonight. Now: NSMBU and NintendoLand.

Seems like the Premium package is the way to go. For (supposedly) 50 bucks more you get some pretty nifty extras with it.

Pretty cool I suppose. Nintendo premium seems like a good idea even if it applies to all non-retail games. I do download a lot of VC and eShop games on my 3DS (and I downloaded a good bit on my Wii as well) so if NA gets a similar deal I might be looking into that one.

When I saw the two options I thought straight away "oh I'm definitely going premium", but on second thought (as the poster above me has said), I might be better off buying an external hd, as I buy my games physically. But I'll have to see what Nintendo has to offer in the online space before I make this call. Regardless, I like the options they are providing :)

Damnit, less than a week before my ring ceremony and a week after the final 350 dollar payment on it. Looks like i'm probably going to miss out on launch, priorities :( Hopefully I can scrounge together some money, my hype has seriously piqued like crazy this past week, today just solidified it.

No joke, Nintendo went all out, they should have done this at E3 on the worlds stage instead of an online stream!! In any case, seriously fantastic conference, that was a major recovery in my eyes from all the blunders theyve made about defining what the console will be about. They certainly made it very clear today!

Nintendo confirmed that the Xenoblade team is still hard at work on a new RPG for the Wii U, stating that it is a new game and not related to other series.

You all have me sad :( No day one for me.

I'm going to get my deluxe white wiiU preordered right now if they're available for preorder. I'm grabbing a 500GB external from Tigerdirect today as well. Nintendoland and the Charge station are more than $50 extra by itself but then you get an extra 24GB on internal storage? Yeah I'm grabbing that one today before they run out and have to backorder.nini200

Well, I guess that's the official death of the wiimote. No publisher is going to ever allow support it for any real use since it's not in the box. The wiimote is full of un-tapped potential and it's going to stay like that forever now.

Nice, We will be waiting a while before we actually get it, prolly next summer. Give them time to get the updates, and VC up and going, as well as a bit more games in the line-up.

It does seem like it would be fun for the living room. (and all the old Nintendo backlog games through the VC)

Just to make sure I am understanding, the premium version, comes with black color, more ssd space, and controller accesories?

But I wonder would it ultimately be better to play this on a 720p, or a 1080p. I mean would we get better (graphical) detail out of choosing 720p like more Anti-Aliasing? Or higher framerate? In general for most games on it, not just a few specific.
