Wonder if we'll see some more of this from Ron Ron vs. Pierce:Â
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FD796H08J7w
I see the big key to the series being the Celts bench, which is a lot less deep than it was in 2008. Not too mention Artest is gonna be on Paul, which will cut down on Paul's ability to control the game. Rando is so much better than he was in 2008. Kobe is more banged up, but he's super focused. If Kobe, Pau, and Artest play 40+ mins a game, it might put the Celts on edge, cause they don't have a deep enough bench to deal with that much of those 3. I don't see KG or Pierce being able to play that much each game . . . esp. KG.fat_robwhy do you keep calling him rando?
and LOL at pheonix losing again, i love it. steve nash is such an overrated player. He will NEVER EVER win a championship as long as he is the best player on whatever team he is on. its just never gonna happen, just like Dirk. those guys aren't franchise players that you can build a championship winner around. i sure do love watching them lose though

if by putting up his MVP numbers at age 36 is overrated, I'll take it. You could also argue Amar'e is the best player on the Suns..
[QUOTE="Toriko42"][QUOTE="andyboiii"]Lakers beware too, Celtics just took out the Cavaliers and Magic, two teams that did better than the Lakers in the seasonCeltics better be prepared. This isn't the 2008 Lakers they're going up against
elpooz
Not to mention they've got a new aresenal on the bench more then capable to pick it up as proven already thru Davis, Robinson, Sheed, etc.Â
AND RONDO
Â
Regular season performance means practically nothing in the playoffs... the 16 that are coming in are coming into an entirely different atmosphere and level of play. That being said, the Celtics having worse records than the Cavs and Magic but beating them doesn't count for much... post-season teams are 10x different than their regular-season counterparts. And even looking at regular season records, the Celtics weren't that far behind either of those teams really...Â
Anyway, if you think the Celtics are taking a championship against one of the best teams of this decade because of Davis (lol), Robinson (lol, one semi-big game) and mr. ball don't lie (aka mr. inconsistent as hell), I don't know what to tell you. Odom > your whole bench. Farmar > Robinson. And our starters take some dookies on yours... Only thing I'm even worried about from you offensively is Pierce, and Rondo to a good extent. I'm almost certain Fisher can contain him decently, considering the great defense he played on both Nash and Williams... And Pierce... well, he'll hit, but if you think he'll be answering Kobe offensively, you've got your hopes too high. Overall though, our team is just way different. Bynum being in the paint is going to be a BIG factor (I'm still convinced that him not being there, + our lack of focus late in the series, is why we lost two seasons ago) simply because of his size and strength. Our bench has had extreme energy and their running game is going to confuse your defense on transition quite a bit. And speaking of defense, I wouldn't be surprised if Artest reduced Pierce to just an okay scorer like he did with Durant. Pierce is a great player, but watching the games against the Cavs and the Magic, most of his points came off of easy catch-and-shoots that he was handed by the defense. If the Lakers focus, he won't be getting those easy corner jumpers or open threes...
Lakers in 7.Â
I could write an essay but I won'tCeltics are better than they were in 08. They took out the Cavs, the favorite to take it all, and Orlando.Â

No, really, they're not at all... We took down a BETTER Orlando team in 4-1 last year, and would have rocked both them and the Cavs this year as well. I don't know how, as a Boston fan, you can say that these Celts are better than the ones in 08...Â

MVP is a regular season award....playoffs should have no bearing on them at all, granted they usually only go to players on playoff bound teams. Still the award is for performance during the regular season. You are saying they were wrong two years in a row.MVP is a regular season award....playoffs should have no bearing on them at all, granted they usually only go to players on playoff bound teams. Still the award is for performance during the regular season. You are saying they were wrong two years in a row.Apocalypse33
they're wrong most of the time. if you actually watched basketball you might know that
they're wrong most of the time. if you actually watched basketball you might know thatmems_1224i thought nash deserved it the year he came to the suns and they improved by 30 wins...the 2nd time he won it, Shaq clearly deserved the award though imo
there have been other huge snubs...CP3 deserved it the year New Orleans made a serious title run.
if playoffs should have no bearing on them at all, then why does it always go to players on playoff bound teams? your logic is terribly flawed....as is the inconveniant time in which the voters get to vote.Colt45fool
Â
not always do their teams go to the playoffs, but usually, I don't necesarily agree with that logic. I just know that is how it works. But I firmly believe only regular season performance should have bearing on that award.

when was the last time a guy won an MVP award and his team missed the playoffs? how often does that happen? come on now...if that's how it works, then they should include the playoffs also. clearly the only people winning the award are people who are going to the post season anyways...

no because the finals MVP rewards the best player of the finals which is the ultimate stage of the playoffs. The MVP is for regular season play but usually goes to playoff bound players because an MVP is supposed to make his teammates better ( at least I think that is the logic) and if your team blows, then obviously you aren't making your team better.[QUOTE="mems_1224"][QUOTE="Apocalypse33"][QUOTE="mems_1224"]why do you keep calling him rando?[QUOTE="fat_rob"]I see the big key to the series being the Celts bench, which is a lot less deep than it was in 2008. As for the Finals, this is gonna be fun. Gonna be tough series, chippy. I got my Lakers in 6, I think homecourt is gonna be huge. We could have won 2 years ago if not for the huge brain fart in game 4, still makes me mad to this day.
hey halftime...
since I know this is the only thread you consistently post in...tell me what you think of this song...not saying it's a good song or a bad song, just tell me what you think. Is it good? Is it bad? What does it remind you of if anything...Apoc and I have a little debate going on ;)
Based on the Draft Measurements that came out Greg Monroe can play center in the NBA...
and Demarcus Cousins in huge. 6'11" 290 lbs...
http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/?year=2010&sort2=DESC&draft=&pos=&sort=3Â
And I bet Petrie tries to play him at Center...christ...
Greg Monroe as the 5th overall pick is pretty much a given at this point.
I know its the NBA Finals but did you guys see the covers of the new SLAM Magazine that just went on sale....
wowÂ
here's how i think this will go down.why on earth would joe johnson go to miami? especially if there isn't already another superstar there.
lebron: ny
wade: chi
bosh: ny
amare: phx
dirk: dal
jj: miami

I need Game 2 already... mad pumped right now. Game 1 had me yelling and jumping off my couch non-stop... let's hope my Lakers deliver and bring that same intensity. elpoozGame was mad boring...
Celtics will bring it anyways. Remember that horrific loss they had against the magic, then they came back on fiyah
Celtics will win in a nailbiter. I can't watch it though cause I have an exam tomorrow
That game was far from boring, anyone who says that is a straight up Lakers hater. No basketball fan would have disliked that beautiful walton-to-bynum pass and bynum's slam (or any of his nasty dunks that night), Kobe's dunk off the steal, Kobe's alley off the BLOCK (which, in itself, was amazing), Rondo's buzzer beater (I hate the Celtics and this had my jaw dropping..), Artest stuffing Davis and then recovering the ball ( :| MONSTER) or Gasol squishing Rondo with that huge block/steal. I'm sure if you had won, you'd be saying it was an entertaining game lol.. learn to appreciate more than just your band of angry, egotistic players... the Celtics couldn't BUY class or sportsmanship. elpoozYou can't talka bout class or sportsmanship as long as you have Vujacic on your team...
And no, I can admit an entertaining game win or lose. The first time Orlando won against the Celtics was one of the dopest game I've ever seen live.Â
Either way, we'll see how it goes tonight. I hope to catch the last half.
Yes because he is such an evident part of our team... you know, he makes the press go nuts, he gets tons of minutes . that was weak toriko, come on now... just accept that your team is full of PO'd bums with anger management issues that are way too cocky. I'm sorry the team I support knows what respect is ;)elpoozCeltics give respect to players and teams that deserve it
the lakers are not fun to watchrubbersouIthis. while we're on the topic, their fans are not fun to listen to, or debate basketball with either.

If any other team in the NBA deserves their respect, it's the Lakers, so wtf :|?
If you think that foul on Kobe on the bank was a good call, you're nuts ^. Gasol's fouls have been BS as well...
I'm going to laugh if the Celtics take this one and everyone talks about how much they fixed their game up... it's a one man show out there, if it wasn't for Allen's 3 pointers, they would be getting it handed to them again lol...Â
