[QUOTE="Realmatic"]I just listen to joe's album again. Still as good as the first time. I just acurried Boyz II Men first two albumsColt45fool
the first half is pretty wack imo. the album is too inconsistant. but damn when joe is on [friends don't let friends, metaphor, come get to this, love's greatest episode] dude is on point. some of the best r&b joints this year.

"Friends don't let friends sleep alone" ... love that joint. Really glad you guys are enjoying that new Joe record. I honestly thought I'd be the only one here playing that.

And lol, man did Ryan Leslie ever **** up what should've been an un****-able situation. Ryan had everyone on his **** earlier this year and then he blew it all by releasing a garbage album. Now his second album is out and I still haven't heard a single opinion on it. I'm interseted, if it's good, but I really can't get my hopes up after that last record ...

Agreed on that Ryan Leslie.  So much potential, and so little came of it. The album has it's flashes though, but Leslie is possibly the worst song writer in the history of R&B music....which is REALLY SAYING SOMETHING, because there are some REALLY generic R&B artist out there.

I might get the new album, but if it's more garbage I think I'm done with him. For a long time. There's a reason why I keep putting it off for artists that I know very little about.

haha, as much fun as it is to make fun of how bad Ryan's lyrics are, I think we both now there are definetely worse out there. But perhaps what does make them that bad is that most terrible lyricists aren't pretentious; Ryan seems to think he's a genius. I was looking at his new album at a store today, and it says "the follow-up to the classic debut". Yea, classic. But it gets worse when you look at the back and read Ryan's "concept" for the album; it's like a concept album of love songs about an imaginary relationship he had or some **** like that. No thanks.

LOL, so true.

The mainstream hyped him up too much. People heard that he was a genius, and the media (more or less) brainwashed them into believing it. I recall when the Ryan Leslie disc came out, all of the "contemporary R&B fans" out there were ecstatic for at least 2 or 3 months. Every day I can recall somebody on their facebook status, or twitter update talking about how great the damn Ryan Leslie album is. All I could think to myself was do people actually like this trash, or are they too stupid to realize that the media has brainwashed them into liking this trash? I'd say the latter, which really says something about the every day listener.

I would put Sean Garrett over Ryan Leslie as far as lyrics...

doubt that

keri had the industry backing with her being a songwriter. "Knock You Down" was a smash and i doubt Melanie has anything on that level. However, Melanie can sing her ass off. "If It kills Me" is one of my favorite songs

Keri is young as well as Melanie. Give it a couple years. Keri is like a femaile version of Ne-Yo to me..

I have debated picking this up.

And regarding Pleasure P; I've heard it's quite solid, but I can't get beyond the fact that it just screams "these lyrics are going to be cliche as hell". I'd be more interested in checking out the new Pretty Ricky cd. I've never heard any of their albums, but they have always been entertaining as hell when I've seen them on tv. And the fact that they're still doing their thing on the indie circuit means they must have some dedication to this art form.

i gave it a spin last night. Personally i didnt like it, the whole "doctor, i need a cure, lets have sex" got boring after a couple of tracks, and a lot of the beats had this elevator music sound to it. I liked the track with Game though :)

Yeah, Thicke is talented as hell, but doesn't really put out great albums.

Man, Usher should've really re-thought his new album. It's still being dropped this month, right? First off, he's following up the first album in his career that is pretty much universally agreed upon as bad, and now he's going into an album with no singles with any buzz. Well, it was a good career well it lasted, Usher.

Anyways, Boyz II Men were on Jimmy last night; apparently they got a new album out. Anyone hear it yet? I'm infinetely more interested in hearing that than R Kelly/Usher/Robin Thicke/any other mainstream R&B artists dropping right now.

I'm not saying I won't give R Kelly's album a shot, it's just ... two things:

1. R Kelly's past few albums have sucked

2. I'm pretty sure you've liked them all regardless of the fact that they sucked.

so that endorsement doesn't really do a lot for me. I already know R Kelly can put together a great album. It's just that his recent track record hasn't given me any reason to believe he will.

R. Kelly actually sings on the CD. Maybe except one song he uses Autotune.

Anyone heard this CD? It's one of the best things I've heard in a while. She's married to Ras Kaas and this was her debut but it sold like lame but it got really, really, good reviews. This isn't new but I doubt a lot of people have heard it.

Favorite tracks:

Be Your Girl

You'll Never Find a Better Woman (Ft. Jadakiss)

Caution: Love how she rides the beat

You Better Tell Her: Some of that Lil Jon production

Complex Simplicity: This is my jam

Caught Up

I Think Of You (Shirley's Song): So beautiful, she takes everything and just has a guitar and barebones instruments and lets her voice do all the work.

the 2nd point is so true on so many levels

I'm really interested in Thicke's new album. His last album was a SNORE fest, but first two albums were pretty good...ITI have you listened to "A Beautiful World" yet by Thicke? It's a bit juvenile, but Thicke really shines on quite a few songs on there. Anyways, I'm going to have to get that new Thicke album....I heard it's supposed to be a double disc (or at least there's a 12 song disc, and then a 15 song one....and supposedly they're sold seprately?)

That stuff the other guys posted is great and all, but the real heart of the new Bobby V album is songs like this:

Bobby V, "Another Life"

Can't think of the producer he worked with on that song off top, but they do a couple songs together on the album and they're the best songs on the album. Bobby V is a beast, pleasebelieveit.

Oh, and Rob don't sleep on the other stuff I mentioned.

Amerie - More Than Love feat. Fabolous // Amerie - Red Eye

Amerie really is  the best in the business right now. So consistent. My biggest gripe with her is that sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between her albums, but I guess if the formula works, don't **** with it. Her last two albums were a bit more go-go, but this album is just some straight up, hit you in the head 20 times type of ****. Amerie goes hard, and is probably the best in the R&B game right now (especially since Badu fell off, D'Angelo's MIA, and Maxwell is good, but not on the level he was in the 90's)

Dam-Funk - One Less Day // Dam-Funk - I Wanna Thank You (For Stepping Into My Life)

Most of the Dam-Funk album is instrumentals, but there all dope, and worth listening to...and when he does decide to sing, it comes out pretty good. Cali's really been pumping this album up, and it's

The-Dream - Take U Home 2 My Momma // The Dream - Fancy

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you don't like The-Dream since you haven't gotten this album yet...and if you don't, then you probably won't like this album. If nothing else, his first album is a better introduction to his music

Joe - Love's Greatest Episode // Friends Don't Let Friends

This album surprised the hell out of me....when ITI suggested this, I was so indifferent to copping it just because I've always hated Joe. Dude's got some jams though....he's inconsistent as sin on this album, but there are some real jams on here. "Love's Greatest Episode" is definitely one of my favorite joints this year.
