Mary J. Blige's album dropped. The Queen of Hip Hop/Soul/R&B. Looks like she gonna sell 300K first week.

lol at the title of her new album ... I've got love for Mary, but c'mon, stop releasing the same album every single year. We get it, you've been through some hard times and now you're stronger.

lmao, surprised she's still selling today...most people who were relevant in the 90's aren't really relevant these days.

DigitalMusicNews:
It seems that Lil Wayne's Rebirth is setting the tone for a string of very early big-name album leaks. Among the latest casualties is Usher, whose album Raymond Vs. Raymond began appearing online midday Sunday the 27th, according to data from BigChampagne.

Like Rebirth, the album's release date has played a questionable game of hopscotch. Originally set to be released in "early 2010," it was then set back to December 21st, and then to "TBD" status.

Now, conflicting information surrounds the release date in the digital retail world. Best Buy, Tower, f.y.e., CD Universe, and others are offering pre-orders for a February 16th release date. So is Barnes and Noble, yet the album is absent from Borders' site. Walmart.com also has a pre-order option - but for February 2nd. Ditto Amazon for March 1st (keep a close eye on those pre-orders guys!). Adding to the mystery is it's complete absence on iTunes at the time of writing

After watching Usher's performance in a tribute to Michael Jackson at 2010 Grammy Awards, Jay-Z believes that the 'My Boo' singer is about to become a new King of Pop.

Jay-Z was so impressed with Usher's tribute to Michael Jackson at Sunday night's, January 31 Grammy Awards, he's tipped the R&B star to become the new King of Pop.

Yeah because someone replaced Elvis as the King of Rock

When Usher makes an album that sells like a bajillion albums then he can do that.

It's not even that which is my main point

I mean look at Elvis or any King ofanything, their role is permanent. It's not an inherited title.

It's like if I became the King of Hip Hop since there is no King yet that I know of, I'd have it for life and beyond. It's not like when I die 50 Cent gets it...

RnB shweet.

You oughta check out Nnekas album - not entirely R&B however.

Also Angie Stone & Corrine Bailer Raes new ones are great as well.

Keen on the new Sade anyone heard tracks from it?

Seems like the general listeners don't think so.

After a decade of keeping fans waiting, Sade has returned to store shelves as Soldier of Love debuted at No. 1 this week. According to Nielsen Soundscan, the singer's long-awaited comeback album has sold 503,100 records after one week in stores.

production is ON POINT! some of the best production this year, period. lyrically...badu came SOFT. she's never been a good songwriter, and her best **** is when Jill Scott was ghostwriting for her (a la baduizm, and mama's gun)....this stuff is decent from a lyrical standpoint, but really badu needs to get Scott to write her ish again.

idk what I think of the album on a whole...it might be a solid B...but it might be a C+. LOL @ andy saying the album was nothing short of amazing....andy you need to cop some more r&b playboi.

mama's gun is NECESSARY LISTENING. best badu tape, period. one of the best soul discs this past decade, period. baduizm is dope too though. worldwide underground is worth it also, but more along the lines of new amerykah part 2 [if you like this disc, you'll like worldwide underground]..new amerykah part 1 is the outlier really. i dont like it, but maybe i should listen to it again.

Just recently heard that Usher track "OMG". MUCH better than that awful first single from his album, but still, nothing great enough to make me want to go out and buy the album or anything.

Anyways, since R&B is so awful lately, we should talk about 90's R&B - what did/do you guys like from this era? I was just going through my records yesterday and played some Jagged Edge and K-Ci & Jo-Jo. And of course you've got your Boyz-II-Men. I dunno, I remember loving R&B in the 90's but my memory of that era is kinda shot. Help me remember some of the jams from that time.

Help me remember some of the jams from that time.IsThisIt_basic

Hell yeah; I need to step up my Keith Sweat collection.

The other day I went through some Tyrese and 112 ... man, good times.

Yeah, Lately was a jam for me back in the day.

Glad to see other people actually like him. It's hard to tell if I'm just nostalgic or his music just is that good.

No, it's that good...I didn't cop the self-titled disc until late 2008. I tried to get people in here, and in the Lounge on him like last year/late 2008, and everyone looked at me like I was crazy.

I don't know about his other tapes though...I was kind of afraid to delve any deeper because I heard the stuff after his first album was hit or miss.
