OT: Official 2008-2009 NBA Season

The Hornets were just tearing up the Magic last night.......and they did it all without Tyson Chandler. king23_

The Magic didn't have Nelson and he's been a bigger impact for the Magic this year then chandler is for the Hornets who is averaging only 8 boards LMAO!

Aaron Brooks = stud. I've liked him since Oregon... him and Tajuan Porter used to be so fun to watch so I'm glad he's getting a chance to start in the NBA after so many people doubted his size and ability to run an NBA ballclub.

Rafer Alston is miles better than Anthony Johnson based on tonight. He went something like 1-9 but he had 8 assists and played great defense. Creating offense and playing solid D is all we need out of him... the team looked so much better when he was running the point tonight.

and I'm happy that Anthony Randolph got some meaningful minutes vs. LA on national TV the other night... kids a freak.

What do you guys think about this years draft class? How good, or deep is it? My kings are looking at a top 3 pick this year, and I want to know how good this draft class is, in case we get snubbed or the #1 pick :( Also, how deep are the positions? Specifically the PG, and SF positions...Colt45fool

They are so-so... #1 pick is going to be Blake Griffin no doubt... if he leaves. But he is a power forward. After him it is a toss up but it will prolly be Hasheem Thabeet from UConn just because you can't pass on a 7'3" center with his kind of defensive skills and potential.

You guys should prolly trade down to like #5 and pick Brandon Jennings if you want a PG... or get a SF like Al Farouq-Aminu. But I don't see how you could pass on Blake Griffin if you get the #1 though.

I'm also kinda wondering how high Tyreke Evans will push himself up the draft board. He's a freshmen from Memphis and Memphis was pretty meh this year because he was playing SG, then they switched him to PG and Memphis has gone undefeated since. He's no Derrick Rose though...

There's also that international kid Ricky Rubio, you might've seen him as the backup PG for Spain in the Olympics if you watched that. People have been hyping him up as the next great thing.... I think he just turned 18. People have been comparing him to Pete Maravich forever now...

Blake Griffin, Hasheem Thabeet, James Harden, and Greg Monroe will prolly be at the top. I'm a huge Greg Monroe fan, love his game even though Georgetown has been horrible as of late. Greg Monroe has SF skills in a 6'11'' body but I think he is gonna end up playing PF in the NBA. But his skills for a big man are incredible...

idk if we'd pass up a PF at #1 but we didn't take Jason Thompson at #12, and Hawes at #10 for no reason the last two years....plus both have played decently...though neither are probably as good as this guy you're saying will be #1 (both have given us about 10/7 with 26 minutes a night) but we still need some sort of athletic defensive big man in there. I have no faith in any of the guys we just brought in (all are probably expirings anyways, except for ****ing Nocioni! Whom is a ****ing WASTE) so I'm looking forward to the draft...right now our team would look like this with Griffin, assuming we get the #1 pick (we do have the worst record in the NBA :|)

PG: Beno/Houston's 1st hopefully
SG: Martin/Garcia
SF: Greene/Nocioni/Garcia
PF: Griffin/Thompson
C: Hawes/Possible 2nd rounder

I really don't expect to see McCants, Bobby Jackson, Calvin Booth, Ike Diougu, Cedric Simmons, or Drew Gooden to be here past next season....all of them are wastes. It seems like we went out, and decided to drop Salmons (stupid move) and Miller for cap (which even if we drop all of these flops, we'll still only have our money total between 40-50 million) and to round up all of the worst 1st round lottery busts of all time (lmao Diougu lmao). If Petrie makes the right moves, we'll only have Nocioni, and Kenny Thomas' contracts to worry about, and Thomas contract is done by 2010 I believe.

That Oklamona/Texas game owned hard today. Great duel between Abrams and Willie Warren. I must've jinxed Blake Griffin lol because he got a concussion early in the game and ended up having to sit the rest of the way. Willie Warren the freshmen guard on Oklahoma stepped it up big time when Griffin went down, and if Willie Warren can prove he can play the point he's another interesting prospect for the Kings... he can definitely shoot the ball.

btw Stephen Curry will be a good NBA player but I would not pick him in the top 10. He'll be able to shoot the ball in the league but he's not gonna provide much of anything else, plus he's gonna be an undersized SG and I don't think he'll be able learn to play PG. I don't think he's gonna have as much trouble as say JJ Redick just because he's better at creating his own than JJ is.

curry is going to be a good role player in the NBA nothing more then that. I see him being like Monta Ellis, a good shooter and decent player but he's not a player that will dominate anyone in the NBA.andyboiii

but my point is he won't dominate anyone in the NBA.  There are a lot of athletic freaks in this league, Tyrus Thomas, Nate Robinson, Rudy Gay Jamario Moon but they are not players that can take over games when the game is on the line.  it would be nice if ellis showed some life this year though, he probably still doesn't have his rhythm back yet

Jets > all. I usually just lurk around realgm to hear the latest news about my Kings, since there are rarely any games of us on TV anymore :(

btw I think I told you guys this before a long time but this dude on RealGM was talking so much ish about how he was good at basketball, how great he was at shooting, bragging about his amazing D.... and it turned out he was from Jacksonville. So I ended up challenging him to play me 1-on-1 in bball at this school bball court near where I lived... and we played 3 games and I beat him like 11-2 or 11-3 in all the games. He pretty much sucked but he would score by backing me down in the post because he was like 5 inches taller. But dude was making himself out to be like Michael Jordan over at realgm lol...

this team is so perfect right now i wouldn't trade anyone. even magette, he's been great off the bench. the difference from this year and next year, besides being healthy hopefully is wright and randolph will be starting next to biedrins. this same roster next year will be a serious threat. i feel like it's 07 again when people laughed at us but this time we finally have size and depth.rubbersouI

we didn't play tonight i'm hoping we keep it that way the rest of the season. so much of our game relies on energy which is why we play so well at home. but on the road against bad teams when guys are sitting out and we have nothing to play for we can look really awful. i like it.rubbersouI

That's a pretty nice young nucleus when you think about it..and Jackson, and Thomas' contracts are up for 2010, so we have a chance to get some sort of FAs (though it's going to be hard to convince a superstar to come to a bad Sacramento team). I still think this team can compete, given they receive time to get older, and mature. Of the group that's expected to be here next season, outside of Jackson, and Thomas, not a single player is over 30...what we really need is an impact player...Martin's a solid complementary player, and so is Hawes, but we need a third guy to solidify the group. We were hoping that would be Thompson, but he has yet to prove he's an impact player.
